Would you want a racetrack near you or not?

Living near a racetrack for non-petrolheads is a pain. When they used to hold autocrosses at the mall about a kilometer away, you could hear the awful open-header racket from my house.

But then again... if you are a petrolhead... there's no such thing as too close.

I live about 2 hours from then nearest full-sized track to the south. About 15-20 minutes from a kart track that's wide enough for road cars (time attack style... not side-by-side). And the track I actually work at (some three to four days a year, as a tester) is 2 to 3 hours north... about 40 kms and 1 - 1.5 hours north to Manila, then another hour and 130 kilometers north on the expressway to Clark Airbase. It's further than the south track, but much, much easier to drive to.

Its a store on Aoyama Dori near the beginning of the main straight on the R246 track. It would be on your left side.

Ah. That explains it. I'll take pictures inside and out.

How are you 4 hours away from Button willow, if I am 4 hours away also? But I live near Fresno.

It might be closer to 5? Sacramento to LA is about 6 hours, and Buttonwillow is around 2 hours north of LA, so I was figuring 4 hours from here to there.

I live about 45 minutes from Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway (World of Outlaws) 3 hours from Pocono (don't know how to spell it) 2 hours from Dover, and 4 hours from Richmond. Been to Richmond 8 times but never been to the others :/ Don't go to Williams Grove very much but Lincoln quite a bit :)

This is the only racetrack in my country, but then again, my country is pretty small, only inhabits a million people.

Problem is, if you and your friends wanna race on track, it's pretty pricy.

The thing that rubs me the wrong way is when people move to an area with a race track and then complain about it. If they had done their research, they would know that the circuit is there, and if they think it is going to be a problem, then they should consider moving somewhere else if it is possible. If they haven't done their research and don't know about the track until the day they move in, then that's their fault.

I live a few miles from a Drag strip. I can hear the races about 9 seconds after they are shown live on TV. Also, California Auto Club Speedway is only 20-30minutes away depending on traffic.

I like it.

I would want one just far enough away to avoid the noise pollution. No living near dragstrips.

I live about 5 minutes away from a Drag Strip called Santa Pod. Yeah, yes I did hear it the past weekend.

There's a race track outside Halifax that's about 35 minutes from where I'm going to school. I went out there on Saturday to go to a race with my uncle, it was a lot of fun. I ended up in the pit crew for a friend of my uncle's, and put gas in the car and helped with a tire change halfway through the race.

Not only do I live 1hr away from a race track, on top of it, it is SPA-Francorchamps :)

And half an hour away is Zolder....

I've got Silverstone and Donington both with 45 mins of me, and Oulton Park is only about an hour and a half away from me.

And Le Mans was under 12 hours away. ;)

I am about 3 hours from the Circuit of the Americas, but I'm an hour and a half from Texas Motorplex (a dragstrip) and I'm less than an hour from Texas Motor Speedway.

I live by Houston Motorsports Park, a 3/8 mile oval track, and drag strip, but i'm willing to drive 3 hours to Circuit of the Americas.

But one Lap on the Nordschleife is expensive, 26 Euros in fact (32usd).

I hope this was sarcasm.

**drooling at the thought of taking my car out for $32**

I live 1.5 hours from Watkins Glen but for that change you can only run the opening day parade laps.

Monticello Casino & Raceway is 40 minutes from where I live. It would be nice to have one closer, but that's close enough for me. It's not a popular track though. Watkins Glen is 3hrs and 30 mins away from here.

Isn't Monticello a horse track? Do they race cars there?

I live pretty close to the Nurb (4 to 4,5h), Hockenheimring (3), Spa-Francorchamps (1h), Zolder (40 mins), etc. Close enough, and far away enough to not be bothered (at all), on big events. Perfect :)
