WRC is back in NZ after a years absence, going to a few stages south of Whangarei tomorrow, and going to the Super Special on Sunday at the Domain. It's going to be choice!

Will try and get some pics up on GTP on Monday NZ time, should be a good rally with Hayden Paddon back on home soil and defending winner of the Rally NZ (non-WRC round) in his S2000 Skoda.

Speaking of NZ / Aussie drivers... whatever happened to Chris Atkinson?

He's bouncing around the Asia-Pacific championships at the moment, driving a Skoda and dominating the championship. He made a one-off appearance alongside Block at Monster WRT for Mexico. He's also been linked to an IRC campaign if and when Subaru decide to make the Impreza R4 available for competition.

Went to a couple of stages today, Hirvonen and Loeb looked a step above everyone else. Hayden Patton just looked uncatchable in SWRC will put up pics later tomorrow

I'll try to get to the SSS at the Domain tomorrow. Might get a couple of pics as well 👍

And the winner is... Loeb. Surprise.
Its getting a bit much now, Only for the few of us on here, the thread would be totally dead. I actually included some IRC events to the thread to keep some interest. One wonders how good the WRC would be with the familiar 1st place holder Mr. Loeb, We can only wonder...

I read this thread, but not during the rallies as I want spoilers before I watch it for myself. I haven't been watching IRC however.

Oh Autosport last week reported Ford may pull out and go to IRC end of this year.

WRC is still going through its slow death pains that arguably started 10 years ago or more.
Only MotoGP is as bad, even Indycar has found itself its own space to exist, even if its not much - though Indycar is always on the brink due to the petty team owners.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ford leave, IRC is slightly cheaper and easier to win. VW will replace them though so its not going to be the end of WRC just yet.

Personally I think Ford should focus on touring cars and give Team Arena some much needed backing and support in WTCC. That would gain them far more publicity than WRC currently does.
But even WTCC is a very weak series at the moment.

X Games Rallycross 2012 Los Angeles featuring Sebastien Loeb, Ken Block, Tanner Foust, Travis Pastrana

^A nice reminder that Loeb is bloody good. Its so easy to forget and assume because he has such poor competition in the WRC that perhaps he isn't so great.
Hopefully for the WRC's sake VW put together a good car and Loeb and Ogier can go head to head for the season next year. Although I will admit I'd love to see Loeb take 10 consecutive WRC titles just for the sheer incredible achievement.

Not a huge fan of Block put I thought I'd put this on the thread for the Block Fans out there, see if we can put some life back thread, Enjoy!

#GYM5 is here!

I have to say I was definitely impressed that Block managed 2nd at the X-games. I was really really really looking forward to a Loeb Vs Grönholm battle. :(

Ya, I gotta give credit to him, he's really is putting the whole Rally/Rallycross thing out there in the states, was great to see Loeb on this side of the pond, lets hope he doesn't intimidate to many people to challenge him, we really need someone with pure class to stand up to him at this point. Wouldn't it be brilliant to see a WRC event in the US, I can guarantee I'd see you on the stages Donald! lol
👍👍

Richie I've been waiting so patiently to see a WRC event in the US since I was 13 and I'm 28 now lol. I believe if the Global Rallycross series takes off here in the states, I can definitely see the WRC here in the future even with all of the crazy US safety regulations/liabilities bs. I witnessed round 2 of the GRC in Texas live in person last month and I was totally blown away! I think everyone who's into motorsports should at least once in their life hear the raw sound of an unrestricted rally car. Videos just don't do justice. Man when that day happens and the WRC lands in the US yeah I'll definitely be out on the stages, pumped fists and all 👍

Rally is one of the major things I miss about being back home in Ireland. I used to go to Rally of The Lakes in Killarney, International Galway Rally, Ravens Rock in Waterford, Stonethrowers in Tipperary, Cork 20 and many more, so many memories, one that stands out in my mind, at the Rally of the Lakes, I remember the rumbles and the echoes of the Turbos echoing through the mountain valleys, Unreal, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Here's a video of the 1997 Rally of the Lakes, Enjoy!

He's a horrible rally driver (but not too bad at Rally-X - he got silver at the X-Games driving with a puncture for three laps), but I think the video finally lives up to the promise established by the first video on the docks. I found Two and _THREE to be more style than substance, but I think he really pulled it off here.

Loeb was quickest in qualifying for Rally Finland today ahead of Latvala and Hirvonen.

The Ford is running a special one-off livery this week to promote Ford Ecoboost and it looks hot

Chris Atkinson is driving Al-Attiyah's DS3 because the Qatari is busy winning gold in the Olympics skeet shooting.

Tomorrow I'll jump in my car (which just passed inspection today, has been stationary since last november :nervous:) and drive up to Jyväskylä to attend the finnish rally for the first time.

Though it's been quite a bland season this year in WRC, I'm super excited for this because no matter how the championship is going, this is an event that everyone wants to win. Though it's probably going to rain on friday, I'll still be out there hoping to see some manic jumps. :)

I actually forgot all about that with him being an world class shooter. It confused me because I was thinking Chris was in the Ford earlier this season with Block. I do like the back of his car this rally, it's stands out!

Does it surprise anyone Loeb is fast! I'm sure your stomach isn't too happy after this rally with the rollercoaster affect either.
