Only times I play GT4 is after my girlfriend falls asleep in front of the t.v. ... and then I turn my best laps in any case, late at night with nobody interfering ... can play any other games anytime, but GT4 bores her ! haha.

Try taking her car shopping. I usually build up a million or so credits and then get my car list together and take my wife car shopping. She has her favorites, but doesn't drive them at all. The Missus is also a photographer IRL and she is just starting to use the photo modes in GT4. (I will probably loose time on the game if she really gets hooked in the photo area.)

DLR, the newest racing team to hit GT planet and WRS division 2, probably has the youngest racers in this division. Me and My cousin DLRgian have a lot of experience for only being 16 and 18. We are ready to drive the hell out of division 2. We wish good racing to everyone in here. 👍

Welcome guys...! Look forward to seeing you on the track... :)

Hope you have a spare few hours a week in order to keep up with the top guys in this Division :sly: ... but, as the old saying goes, two heads are better than one! :dopey:

Cheers,
TM

Actually, mad_nos, I am the youngest driver in this here division. And this division ain't big enough for the two of us  :sly:

Haha, well, anyway, I wasn't able to put up a top 20 time this week on account of being away since Thursday, but I look forward to competing with you in the future.

Hey DLR guys. Welcome to the WRS and the D2 pits. I'm sure you will find plenty onf competition here in D2 and if we aren't enough to keep you challenged then I'm sure D1 will really give you some high goals to attain. Good luck and have fun with the WRS.

Welcome DLR,

Hope you guys enjoy the series. I've only been in it a couple weeks and have enjoyed it myself. Lots of good drivers here and in the other divisions as well. Good racing to you both.

Good choice on the Camaro as a team car. One of my favorites.

Later,

Woohoo! I'm at the top of div 2 now :)

Congrats KTB! Well done. 👍 👍

You ran a good race this week on the Nurb. I could see early on I had no chance to catch you. I didn't have much time to devote to it, but hey no excuses. You either do it or don't!

Keep up the good work. Hopefully I can get a little more track time in this week, and move up a bit. We shall see.

Thanks dude! Good showing yourself 👍

Congrats to al D2 drivers that participated in Wk 6. Great times submitted, you guys. Special congrats to the podium finishers. Those are some fast times!!!

Ahh finally got around to qualifying for WRS!

Hi fellow Div2ers :) My name is Steve, I'm 28 and live in Cape Town, South Africa. kragbees: I believe you're from SA too? Good to see I'm not the only one 👍

I have a quick WRS noob question (the rules thread doesn't actually seem to mention this): I assume we can take as many laps as needed for each weekly race to set our best time (same as qualy)?

Good to be here and I look forward to some serious racing! :mischievous:

I dont belong here anymore.....

So sad.....

I mean, i didnt really make that much of a contribution to the pits anyway, probably cos i was out on the track all day, but hey! thats how we win points, and what do points make?

Anyway, thanx for being so friendly, and look out for my return very soon Kenny!

Just in case anyone was interested, i posted my replay for the nurb (in PAL) in the week 6 results thread.

Everyone said they wanted to see it, but no one has yet!

Enjoy yourselves, i'll see you soon!

VEXD out. Literally.

Welcome to div2 Steve. :) My name is Steve also. I'm new around here like you. I have only run 2 races so far. I think you will like this series. The racing is insanely competetive (in a friendly way) 👍 and everyone is quick to help when you have questions on setups, racing lines, etc.

As far as your question about the amount of laps you can take for each weekly race, you can run laps until either you or your equipment melts down.

Good luck dude. See ya at the finish line.

Your'e not the youngest driver in this division, there's a 13 year old knocking about somewhere, and he's fast!

It's in the genes ;)

Oh and welcome to all the new guys in div 2 👍

And congrats to Vexd on the promotion, don't be asking to come back to div 2 now :mischievous:

Welcome Zaratul. Are you the same zaratul from GTVault? Anyway, Congrats to Vexd on the step up. you deserve it with a time like that.

Sorry Mojo, that ain't me. So what's the consensus here regarding the best pick of the Skyline's for this week's race?

I honestly couldn't tell you. I've been going to school double time (I'm gone 15 hours a day) all week and barely have a chance to reply to the boards. If anyone has any input, please help a brother D2 driver out. Chances are, that other drivers have the same question.

My avatar is still stuck at the Nurburgring. :D

A lot of guys are running the '02 v-spec II Nur. That's what I started out with. For me it handles a lot better and has better throttle response than the other models. It sounds way cool too!

Mojo. Hope ur schedule clears soon so ya can get back to racin!

Steve

Yeah, the V-Spec II Nur was the one I've found to be best overall. Ran my first test session last night, rather successful, though still a bit slow. Are we allowed to share our T1 and T2 times here? If so, what are everyone else's so far (and with what car at what BHP)?

Heck yeah you can share T times here. just follow the WRS rules for posting times.(no final secter times, etc)

Yeah, the V-spec or M-spec Nur seam to be the choices of most.

I hope I can race soon too. But the sooner I finish school, the sooner I can get out of Phoenix.

 👎 @ Phoenix, AZ

OK, I've really enjoyed mixing it with the elite GT drivers of the world :) and am proud of my (generally) Top 10 in Division 2, but I'm probably going to take a hiatus for a few weeks, while I concentrate on progressing in the game... I have only progressed a staggering 0.4 % since I started doing the WRS six weeks ago , but I have undoubtedly become a better GT player because of it... in the last week, I've golded S-16 (first attempt!!), and completed Mission 34 (third attempt!!), pretty much because of week 6 at the Nurb 👍 👍, but in order to maintain the pace required in Div 2, I'm totally unable to do anything else in the game.... :( I'm dying to do some enduros, and to start collecting some motors... but my first priority is to get those 29 golds I still need... So it looks like I might have to suppress my 'WRS gene' for a while (see below... :sly: )

I'm trying to work out the best strategy... since your leaderboard rating is based on your 6 best out of the last 8 weeks (is that right??), i'm probably best to take a break rather than just do the odd week here and there??

Anyway, cheers for the racing thus far... respect to everyone who submits their times, and thanks to everyone who has helped me out by posting their settings and discussing their split times... I know what is expected of a Div 2 driver now :scared:

Yeah I agree with you Touring, I have been playing the WRS races only, not touching my own game progress ... which is on 28% or something now. Because I also have the cracked save game with all cars and millions of credits on my memory card, it's a mission to copy and put my own one back each time as well with the Max drive.

I'm such a procrastinator! My first week in WRS and I wait until the night before (just like a school assignment). Oh well, at least it was more fun than school work. :)

Are we allowed to share our T1 and T2 times here? If so, what are everyone else's so far (and with what car at what BHP)?

I ended with:

T1 31.703
T2 59.879

I guess that's a strange combo since it seems most people who get sub 1min T2's get much better T1's than mine. I must be doing something wrong.

I tried 3 cars:

GT-R Limited Edition LM
Bought this from Lot #2 a while ago, but hadn't driven it. I guess I saw "Limited Edition" and just let the sleazy salesman take my money. This had terrible understeer. I tried to correct it with suspension and LSD tweaks, but I couldn't get it under control.

GT-R '97
Just a plain old Skyline I found in Lot #2. This handled much better than the LM. I considered going with this but noticed everyone was talking about the "Nur." Having not ever driven a Skyline in GT4 or GT3 (can you believe it?), I had to see what the fuss was about.

V-Spec II Nur
The handling seemed indistinguishable from the vanilla '97. The salesman sort of lied to me about the power, telling me "oh, it's just 280hp." I get the thing in my garage and it's got 324hp w/o even an oil change!

Me thinks, "Sweet! It's a magic car" and I proceeded to stock up on parts.

Started with all the handling and drivetrain stuff (suspension, brakes, trans, clutch, etc.) avoiding the power upgrades. Took the car on the track again and tweaked the suspension. Then I got the LSD, but I don't really know what I'm doing with that so messing with the setting actually slowed me down.

I was getting:
T1 0'35.xxx
T2 1'05.xxx

Then I put on the stage 2 turbo and sport intercooler for 502PS (495HP). Got some decent times, more like what were being posted.

Then I decided to dump the intercooler and get the Port Polish and Displacement Increase mods done (kind of scary b/c there's no going back). Got me to 506PS (499HP) and I cut a whole second off my final lap time! I doubt it was just the 4HP difference. And after 100+ laps, I was pretty consistent in my line. There must've been some difference in engine response by going with the different setup. Anyway, I was glad I tried it.

252 miles on a brand new V-spec II Nur ...all on Motegi East

I also bought a Skyline 350GT-8 '02, hoping to size it up against the the more sporty-looking GT-R's, but I didn't get a chance to drive it.

Mojo Rising
Yeah, the V-spec or M-spec Nur seam to be the choices of most.

Can I ask why anyone would choose the M-spec Nur (1580kg) over the V-spec Nur (1560kg)? Seems to me the only difference is that the V-spec is lighter by 20kg.

BTW, I use PS instead of HP to make the info in the game more consistent. Check it out, https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60076

The Mspec handled better imho. Yes its the heaviest skyline but it seem to be the best
