Yes,Jan.
I can read it.
I drive from week 79 till 106(last GT3 WRS) and now in GT4.

For the none Dutch readers,
I congrat Jan with his promotion and asked if he could read my Dutch,
He thanked me for that and asked if I could read his African Dutch and how long I I'm active here.

I took part in the beginning of the GT3 WRS but then missed the rest of the season ... but now I'm back for the GT4 WRS right from the start !

Hi Sjaak68,

I had never read Afrikaans. I knew it was similar to dutch, but I didn't know in which proportion.
What you wrote makes sense to me, except the word 'baie' and assuming that the
word 'bly' has something to do with 'blijven' (to stay) in dutch.
Is the 'y' instead of 'ij' (as in 'jy' for 'jij' or 'ry' for 'rij') the regular spelling in Afrikaans or is it only a shorter writing as sometimes in dutch ?

Anyway, welkom in onze tweede divisie, Jan, en veel succes !

Hallo daar flat-out,

Yes it is very similar to dutch in a way. We met 2 dutch guys here in South Africa last year, and we were merrily chatting away and understanding each other ...

In that sentence "baie bly" means "very happy" ... but let me tell you, Afrikaans is a very odd language in that "bly" can mean "happy" or "stay" , it's just in which manner it's used. "baie" can mean "lots" and "very" as well ...

No, it's the regular spelling, I think mostly where you guys use "ij" , we only use "y" , that's with most of the words I would say ...

So I take it you are also from Holland flat-out ?

Do you know Erik Breukink, Gert-Jan Theunnisen (cycling from the 90's ?) I was a avid cyclist at a stage ... always dreamt of the Tour-de France ...

No Jan,
Cyril is the only Frenchman in the whole world who understands Dutch.

And Breukink is now manager of the Rabo-team and Theunnisen is into the mountain-biking right now.
They both were very succesfull in the mountains, remember Alp du huez.(forgot how you write this)
Peter winnen was also very good in those days.
In these present days the Dutch aren't that good now.

But we have Albers now in F1,riding a fast tractor named Minardi.

O ok haha, nice to know other languages ...

Yes I remeber Alp d Huez very well ... my favourite rider was always Greg le Mond ... but lots of people did not like him though ...

Yes I wish I could say there was a South African in F1 or any other motorsport ... but unfortunately we are very rugby and cricket orientated ... probably not so bad as we won the test series against the West Indies ! 👍

hey sup guys im bunta prod (project.DownShift) is my clan name form SRS, NFSU2, and juiced wen it comes out. my real name is alex im 18 and im going to slap the guy who think's the SW20 is the crapsack out of the MR2's cus i love MR2's and it's the MR-S thats the crapsack.... i love all toyota's and subaru's (honda's can blow me) and i ben playing GT for the frist one as well. and i dont really take the WRS as a challenge more or less just some thing fun. so if you dont see me in a race i didnt like the car. i gota like the car or it's no fun and my point for being in the WRS is gone  and i dont think i'll be runing this week cus i cant stand FF's

i love anime initial D dragballZ/GT e'X-driver so i like just about all anime. if you have Xlink i'll race ya mine is prodbunta but you shoud AIM(goku6248) or MSN(ss1000goku@hotmail.com) me frist im never on it.

This is great! So many people from different places around the world and we find ourselves here setting all of the stupidity of the world aside for one thing in common. The love of racing and GT4. I love GT Planet. :D

Good to meet you ProdBunta. I love InitialD and Subaru also. I don't like FF either, but the SRT-4 seems to be a pretty good FF car along with the Mini Cooper S and the Volvo S60. So when I get some time I will drive my race rig over to the "Big Apple", block the streets off and give this a go. I really wish GT4 had online mode.

ya i do to. i dont think sony has an ass cus of the lack of online play, but maybe in GT5. i may give the SRT-4 a shot if you think it's ok but i wont like it damnit LOL

Hi there DIV2 drivers :)
I have just been promoted from DIV3 :) my times arent too good so DIV 2 podium guys have nothing to worry about ;)
Im 24, I live in Poland - our economy is not so good (45 years of comunism :/) so life in here isnt very good but polish girls are the most beautyfull in the world :D
Im graduated in marketing and management (bachelors degree) and now I plan to make a master of arts in Japan (knock on wood !) - the place of my dreams :)
In GT im from the very beginning (take a look at my sig ;) ) but GT4 WRS is me first online competition.
Good luck to every one - I will try tu get podium ASAP ;)

Omedeto to your promotion. I am sure the polish girls are hot, but you will love Japan! The women here are stunningly gorgeous. The ratio is 'off the wall' as some gaijin say.

Hehe I hope that he didnt :P

My post is a little OT so I will add something from GT at the end - my times are very weak this week :(
Also can someone take a look at and answer to my question in week5 topic please ? :/

Hello D2,

I enjoyed reading your introductions and look forward to racing with you all. I've been here before, but it's been awhile. I ran the A.R.C. challenge (GT3) and had my arse handed to me, so I have no illusions of grandeur, like a podium finish or such. Other than improving and having some fun I hold no expectations.

Been living in Ohio now for almost half my life (42 years of it) and enjoy it. Grew up in Michigan and prefer the outdoor activities there. Right now I'm sitting about 10 miles from the Mid-Ohio Raceway and look forward to seeing the guys go at it in a couple weeks.

I got into GT3 a little more than a year before GT4 was supposed to be released and never did accomplish 100% of the game (98.7%). I just didn't want to spend the time to finish it. GT4 will be different. I find it's a good hobby, inexpensive, long playing and feeds my racing hunger. Been running with a DS2 controller and I think it'll be time to switch to a wheel soon.

Guess that's enough for now. Looking forward to this week and races to come.

Later

Hey Villainpl. There is no OT here in the Pits. That's what we are here for. You don't have to talk shop here. Whatever's on your mind, spit it out. 👍

As for your question, I have replied already. I know I'm not the best, but I believe I know how to race, I just need to get more consistant. That's what we're all here for. Anyway, I hope my reply helps at all.

Yes, the girls in Japan are awsome and plentiful. :D I've been to Okinawa, Hakaido and Tokyo on the main island. Tokyo is by far the best. Hakaido is too damn cold for me. The girls wear too much. hehe.

@ Canoe: Welcome Aboard, Man. 👍 Glad you like it here. My advice to you: If you will spend any time at all on GT4...Get a wheel. It makes it so much more fun and realistic. I have owned a DF and a DFP and love them both. I like the DFP better of course. (900 degree steering rules) Enjoy your time at the WRS and the D2 Pits.

Hmm so ur gaijin too ?:) I thought that you are Nihonjin.
I have heard that Hokkaido wa totemo samui desu ;) (ehh im just starting with nihongo  )
I would like to go to Tokyo especially cos I love crowd :)
And thnx for answering my question i will read the answer just in a moment.

Edit: PS I thing that I mistaken Mojo Rising for Speedy Samurai :embarrassed:

So many people in, been to or going to Japan. It was always - and still is - somewhere I wanted to go to, but not just for a quick visit, but rather a few months and an opportunity to live with the locals. I started learning the language in anticipation of a 3 year trip that sadly didn't work out :( But I'd love the opportunity to get myself over there someday.

I spent one night in Tokyo... (yes, a whole evening in Japan! :P ) I was on a stop-over flight from Sydney to London... Got put up in a lovely hotel (owned by the airline) and I didn't take anything from the mini-bar, despite the fact it was packed with two of everything, loads of different beers and spirits, and plenty mixers (sorry, soft drinks...).. all I had was a can of Coke and some salami sticks, and dutifully ticked the items off on the little pad that lets room service know what to charge you... it was only when I checked out I realised that, being a complementary room, I could have drunk the place dry for free... 🤬 :banghead: :dunce: ...

still, if I had done that, I would never had made my flight, so it would have worked out very expensive anyway :ill: Needless to say, I didn't see much of Japan... but I plan to go back to Japan for a week or two, maybe even catch a JGTC race, when I pop over to Melbourne sometime soon to visit my friends who just got married over there... 👍 👍

i want to go to japan and rent a supra RZ and go drifting at the drift playground. that thing looks sweet i've seen them run it on G4 and i really want to go. i want to live there i mean come on they have all of it better. cars, girls, food, hell even cartoons are better over there LOL

LOL, not everything is better. Just different. Living in Japan can be difficult. If you are living in a large city, you can get by much easier as there is alot of english, however, it is difficult to find a good job sometimes. If you live in the boonies, you can find a pretty good job and make some good money, but you will be 'alone' without much support. It takes awhile to adapt. Just remember that you will be 'gaijin', or foreigner. You will never truly fit in.

p.s. Hokkaido wa samui desu ga, kirei desu. Nihongo wa muzokashii desu ne.

Seems a few of you have been or are based in Japan. Im off there next year around feb march for a 1 month needed holiday, so as the time draws closer might have to get some travellin advise off a few of you... 👍

On another note, my simulator has been painted and just putting it together now, so i will be able to get out of the pits and onto the track for this weeks race... and from what i have seen it looks pretty competitive from some of the div 2 drivers...

👍

For you guys/gals who are planning to visit Japan in January, make sure you don't miss the Tokyo Auto Salon! I was at this year's (1/15-16) show and it was....off the charts!! Best car show on earth, especially if you follow Option/Best Motoring/Hot Version videos. I got to stand pretty close to a couple of the drivers, but I can't believe they didn't recognize a GTP Division 2 driver!! I mean, come on, the second best group of drivers in the "Planet"!!! I bet Tsuchiya would be begging for my autograph if I made it to D1, which is not anytime soon...

Seriously, the titanium exhaust on the Amuse Carbon-R was just...   in person.

I might have to get to japan earlier than i thought MR8 👍

Alrighty, the Sim is all done.. although i am waiting on one more special sticker to top it off with, a Gt4 sticker of coarse :)
But here it is, i swear i'm pulling faster times now....lol

I can now get out of the pits....

LOL @ MR8. I bet he would too.

Damn WSSSUP, that thing is awsome. Makes mine look like someone dropped a turd in my living room. I still need a racing/car seat for mine. I also need a camera.

Hello all D2'ers, I was just assigned this week. I didn't know this was out here and since I've gotten into a funk with GT4 (57.7% complete) and I don't feel like buying Suzukis or Civics for the one-make races, this ought to occupy my time nicely.

Good luck to all!

Hey Androos. Welcome to the GTP WRS and the D2 Pits. I'm sure this will occupy your time quite a bit, if you are anything like the rest of us.

Can't stop playing ...GT4. No...bathroom breaks. Must ...keep going. Talking in...sentence fragments. *wets myself* Aaahhh, that's nice. Proceed. :D

Mojo Rising
Can't stop playing ...GT4. No...bathroom breaks.
Then Mrs Mojo must be hating GT4 as much as Mrs Flat-out.
I almost reached the step "No sleep" to have enough to do everything I want to do in a day (work, playing with the kids, playing GT4, doing some web programming, doing some family research).

Edit :
I just saw the above pics.
Poor Mr. Kolyana

@ Nat : great sim. One pillar for the afternoon lap and a fridge within hand reach is all what is required to make it perfect.

6 of them of varying color lined up next to each other, with 6 PS2's and 6 flat panel HD TV's.

:sighs:

I don't think any Mr. Kolyana would put up with that, but I live in hope. The current Mr. Kolyana has to put up with me saying "hey Honey, I'm off to Seattle this weekend for a GT4 lan party ..." I can't imagine that I'd get away with TOO much else :P
