Bahh knickers... going really well - closing back up on Fox for 2nd

Sorry for the couple of dives on you, Fox, both were an accident, got caught out... I enjoyed our lap battle though :D

No worries Plux there was no damage in both incidents just some good racing mate.

So the rain descends AGAIN  ho bloody hum. The first time was not that bad as the circuit was not that greasy but the second time it rained the circuit got real greasy and I kept spinning out even at low revs and even in 4th gear.

At that point I stopped enjoying it, and before I started hating it I decided to call it a night

What could I say about my race - better luck next time. I just hate rain with GT40. I just loved it when it got sunny at morning and I could run my best laps 👍 - then it started to rain again 👎

So we went to Le Mans for Round 5 of the Waterworld Sportscar Championship. A power-boost for the previously already quickest car on the straights meant that always fast guest-starter Gokartman was able to secure pole ahead of me & Yeratel, only 3/1000 separating us in 2nd and 3rd in qualifying. Thought I'd take it easy on the start and I did, until Panoz spun in front me and I juuust managed to scrape by with a small bump which luckily didn't cause me any damage. Unfortunately I had to back off, so I got overtaken by a couple of people and had to fight with a couple of Shelbys and Corvettes (which I couldn't even overtake out of the slipstream) for a while. It was a nice fight, but once I broke free after gokartman spun in sector 1, Yeratel and Lout had already put quite some space between us.

I then inched closer to them lap by lap, until I finally had them in my sights ... which is when it started to rain for the first time. On the way into the pits both Lout and me went off at Indianapolis as the car just wouldn't stop anymore on the wet surface. I was in contention then for a while, but my chances of winning went down the drain when during one of the downpours I came in to change to wets at about 60%, and apparently, just as the selection-screen came up I tapped the accelerator which the game interpreted as an "ok" ... and gave me another set of Sports Soft. So then I not only had to make another pitstop the next lap, I also had to go around in 100% wet conditions with those tyres. Must have lost about a minute there. The rest of the race was basically hoping to see Lout appear somewhere, but I never saw him again. Just before the end when the rain stopped, I wanted to change to SS-tyres again as early as possible, and the same thing happened again. Apparently the "take-over point" where the selection screen comes up, is right at the very point where you would accelerate out of the chicane at the pit-entrance again. So I accidentally tapped "ok" with the pedal again and went around the last laps on wets, because catching Lout was hopeless anyway. I knew I was 1 lap ahead of DK as I just had lapped him before, so I just coasted the last 2 laps on the wrong tyres.

So, an ok-result, but somehow it felt like it could have been even better.

taken out in the first hundred feet, slammed into pitwall and car completely destroyed

then accidently put on sports softs during second rain storm...then crashed several laps in a row...not a good day.
Now you know what I have been going through for the better part of the season.:indiff:

Oddly, yesterday I didn't have a lot of crashes(About 2). Coincidentally, one of them was on a in-lap to change over to wets as it was raining.:D I did however have the miscue of not having the pit menu come up as I was hitting the accelerator to get towards pit lane. That's when I heard the sound effect for when you select OK and hit the X button. Maybe that's something for PD to look at for a future update as in pitlane autopilot and the Pit Menu coming up at different moments for Le Sarthe?

@gtpanoz, sorry bud - couldn't give you anymore room as I knew somewhere on my inside was Furi and I really didn't want to touch him, plus the rear end was going to round if I turned the wheel anymore

Most pleased for @ranhammerR34 in his great run today! Just keep on truckin' indeed bud!

Well done Joe and Lout on the wins, I am gutted I dc'd though but there was nothing I could do to catch Joe. I think Mr. Ferrari left me a message inquiring about a switch from unreliable Jaguar :P :P

What about the one in the middle taking avoiding action not to hit the spinning Mk IV?
I think I had to do some threading of needles just to avoid all the car-nage.: o.O

No problem, I was in chase view at the start so I seen Furi beside you, I done the safe thing by taking the grass. Getting out of the grass gave me the problem.

I think I might have given someone a whack at the start when fishtailing. :indiff:

That's sort of what happened to me at the Nurburgring.

BTW Is Matterhorn track safy on pit exit? It's little scary when exiting from the pit to back on track right on racing lane. It's not funny to get damaged right after pit stop.

Yeah I know. Yesterday when I practice track felt more and more like Monaco - narrow and walls allover, not space for any mistakes. Passing will be difficult to me with wide car.

@Furinkazen What're track/room settings? Laps?

As long as he sticks to his word and it will be dry. It probably will be around the 90-minute mark this time though, right?

The track really is treacherous though. It took me something like 7 laps to finally get in a decent one and find a combination of braking points, corner speeds and lines that would not land me in a barrier somewhere and was halfway reproducable lap after lap. Especially the braking points are somewhat of a mystery as they produce vastly different results if your line is half a meter left or right from the lap before, like before the uphill hairpin and even more so before the final right-left-left with the huge bump in the downhill braking zone.

I think getting through without much damage will be even more important on this one than blindingly fast lap times.

Apologies for the delays here. Yesterday (as Snow will attest) was interesting to say the least.

Matterhorn - 75 laps, all in daytime, and no weather change. Will update OP to reflect amendments.

Lap times, anyone?

I think race pace in GT-O will be somewhere in the 1:11's...
I'll find out for my own part one way or the other later on today.

@R0ssingt0n, I can't help but wonder if you did a weight reduction and added ballast to your car to make the weight requirements. I have pretty much a stock GT350 and the rear panels on our cars are a bit different with yours having 4 holes.
