X1 Prototype- WOW!

Imagine how fast this thing lap the Nordschleife. I think <6 min.
I, and many others, have set times under 5'30 in the PD F1 car, so it would break into the 5 minute range easily.

I'd be amazed if it can do the 24hr 'Ring layout in under 5 minutes! :dopey:

I tend not to agree on this one.

Altohugh it is fast as hell, new physics - on Professional setting at tleast - is much, much more unforgiving than one in GT4.

If you take full-released lateral and vertical physics in concern - where you can lift the car off the gorund on kerbs very easy and make it loose the aerodynamics if you miss the line - comparation with insanity of GT4 is hardly plausible :D

BUt I agree it should go somewhere around 5:30.

The GT4 F1 lap record is 4'48 IIRC, so this should be a bit quicker and may attain a 4'20 ish lap.

From the looks to the performance, everything about this car is just extremely incredible. 👍

I wonder...will they make it in real life, in the future?

I suppose they will, as the GT by Citroën was made real...which was created in collaboration between Polyphony Digital and Citroën.

Now PD virtually designed another car, in collaboration with Red Bull Racing.

But I'm still a bit...doubtful about whether we'll see the X1 Prototype in action in real life.

I'm am so pleased that the turbine and CVT gearbox are no longer with us. The TT V6 and a real gearbox will make this so much more enjoyable.

I reckon some of the GT top dogs will set some amazing times with the X1!. Can't wait to be humbled (-:

I can't download wmv/qt video!Does it only me?
Anyway - what track is that? (Suzuka?)
photo19a.jpg

I can't really place it, it looks like Suzuka, along with the other rain-shots. Maybe the right sweeping corner after the hairpin, but the curbs arn't there in GT5p. The other shot with the crowd might be at the hairpin itself.. But it looks like it differs from GT5p as well.

We havn't seen a video of the facelifted (new pit facilities etc) Suzuka yet, did we?

I wonder if other F1 teams or manufacturers will be asked to design rival cars to the X1 for future dlc. That could make for some very interesting racing.

The X1's mega acceleration may compensate inexperience of the 'Ring, even with pro physics.

 Lion-Face has completed the 'Ring in GTPSP, with the PD F1 car. I believe L-F's time was 5'35. His settings were; N1/N1, Pro physics, no aids (including TCS), and quick tuning.

Of course, GT5's physics is more complicated.

Isn't there already a RedBull X1 Prototype thread? Shouldn't they be merged? Or do the normal rules not apply somehow and am I missing something here?
Nice news by the way.

Well don't get your hopes to high that if you get this car, you will win easily. Faster car means you need better skills in braking and handling.

The idea is to make a the fastest racing car. This does occasionally involve going around corners. A Bugatti may have a higher top speed, but apart from the Test Course Oval, there is nowhere you are going to use that speed. With the X1, you can accelerate to that speed in a small amount of room.

DCP
Agreed yes, but many youngsters playing this game only think of things like top speed...:)

the same youngsters playing this game only think of things like a fictional car that laps Suzuka over 20seconds faster than any car ever to exist.........right 👍

Exactly, it's driving experience will be so radically different from most other cars. I remember my first run in the Citroen on GT5P and how much I needed to get used to the lack of gears and the insane down force the car had.

More Performance=more time to truly master

Indeed there is. Merged.

In the garage pic with Virtual Vettel, the floor is unrealistic. Aren't garage floors meticulously kept clean and almost always a white color, to make sure every tiny part is accounted for after doing work on the car?

I know aircraft hangars where work is being done are that way, and I assumed most high-end racing garages did the same.

That mirrored surface would like hide anything that would happen to fall or get misplaced.

Nit-picking at its finest, ladys and gentlemen.

Seriously, "People_Know_Me". You're complaining about a visual design choice of a Background setting that we will not have any direct control within? I guess the waiting is really getting to some people. That or so much content has been added to the game that people are finding the game's background features, something to ANALize.

I find it fanboyishly pleasing to see how this game has the best modelled cars as well as drivers out of any other racing game, even on PC.

Looking at this pic I noticed the parts of another X1 ( the black or carbon-finished one perhaps ) in the background.
Look at the white RedBull decals on the rear spoiler of the one in the background and see that they're missing on the blue X1 in the foreground.
And Seb Vettel looks not entirely convincing to me although that would be nitpicking and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.:)
