Couple more tracks in the Store Demo Vol. 2, they're nothing really special.

Also, is everybody excited? Because guess what's next!

This is one I've been eagerly awaiting since EncounterGTR started going through this demo three weeks ago, I got a feeling it's going to be something big awaiting us... like how the big thing that was waiting for us in 2012 when Xenn went through the OPS2M demo was the old SSR11...

I wonder why he doesn't really research GT games anymore. The stuff he found when did research them was pretty amazing, like SSR11 I just mentioned above, he reminded everyone that the old Super Speedway was in GT3 (as there was lots of publicly released footage of the old Super Speedway before GT3 came out, everyone just forgot about it before Xenn found it), and he even found the old Smokey Mountain South from GT2 in an early demo... which BTW we never got a video on it... :(

Which demo was it?

Which demo was it?

The NTSC Demo.

It's easy using GT3gEdit to get the cars, including the Sample Test cars.

Aah, GT3gEdit. I tried it a couple years ago and it seems like it's the simplest way to get the 911, the Stratos, the Diablo, the sample cars, etc. I didn't really have any cheating things either, like Gameshark, AR Max, or Cheat Engine, just good old GT3gEdit.

That and it makes sense you wouldn't be able to buy hidden cars from an other save since they just can't be obtained naturally. Using GT3edit is the best way (though slow and kinda annoying 'cause you have to already have cars in your garage to be able to change them into hidden vehicles) to get them.

Fair warning, sample 6 (or 5? whichever is the one that's just boxes with wheel helixes) freezes your game when viewed in Arcade or Garage on NTSC USA by making the game unable to load any 3d models or races, and hidden cars except MX5s and S2000s have the placeholder Mira body on PAL, NTSC formula cars and sample cars as well. (however I believe sample 6 is playable on PAL, because it's got the placeholder body on it though).

Didn't somebody get Sample 006 to work once? I remember earlier in this forum I saw somebody had gotten it to work in a race where it showed up as a pair of balls, or three dimensional circles, to put it in better words.

Welp. Doesn't work for me :P But i'm ok with that. I was just curious to seem what they looked like since I come from the PAL version. I reeeeeaaaaally feel like PAL got the short end of the stick, what with all the placeholders and removed cars..

However, I tried remaking a hybrid I have on my PAL version on NTSC, and... it didn't work! Not as in I couldn't make my FTO LM hybrid, but the car would ALWAYS wheelie, even with 255 front downforce and 180 rear, and I could not get it to go past 500mph as it would perma-spin its wheels... on Formula wheels! The only car that does that on PAL is the Escudo when going for the wheelie setup, and on vanilla GT3 PAL, it's impossible to get it to fully rise on Test course. I can get to about 500kmh/310mph but no more. I feel like it's easier somehow to wheelie on the NTSC version.

Sorry, that was off topic a bit xD

That is pretty cool! 👍

I might be wrong but was SSR11 also in GT Tokyo Geneva? I think there was a challange with the iBOT car (the one with the smileys) and the chicane section of the track..?

If I had to guess, it seems the Store Demo Vol. 2 build is maybe a few weeks/months after the OPSM2 build. Of course, there has been builds where more updated tracks appeared while others seemed to be either recycled or strangely downgraded.

That is pretty cool! 👍

I think the track you're thinking of is Special Stage Route 5, I don't think SSR11 ever appeared in Tokyo Geneva.

Apparently EncounterGTR wanted to treat us with two tracks today, because Smokey Mountain North has already been uploaded.

No real surprises here, I in fact envisioned this one just like this...

You're thinking of the Toyota Pod race, which took place on the front stretch and pit lane of SSR5.

The mighty Xenn has spoken!

I'm alive! :P

That's my bad, I had plans to make videos of the NTSC Demo tracks but never got around to doing them. I'm more free now, for the time being, so i'll get to work on it :)

Great to see you back on board.
The amount of stuff you've shared is still quite the talk around here.

Well, I won't lie to you, I never tried to replace tracks before :)

Here's what I found: I have PAL version so I tried to replace courses from EU folder but it didn't work, after that I tried UK folder and it worked. I tried to replace Midfield with Course 100. First I tried "L_midfield1" but nothing happened, after that I tried "midfield" and it worked. Here's an image:

Update: It's best to replace every course to make sure it will work.

how did you replace a course?

Boy, have I got a busy day today. I've got to add all the US Demo tracks to the TCRF page (as it seems Xenn did the entire demo in one night), and I'm waiting for EncounterGTR to post the next track in the Store Demo Vol. 2, which is Complex String. I've also already added Test from the Store Demo Vol. 2 onto the TCRF page (though as an extra track, because it's just Laguna Seca). All while on my grandmother's iPad while I'm at their house... Oh and FYI EncounterGTR, when you do Complex String, make sure you disable the 180 second (3 minute) time limit, because although 3 minutes sounds like plenty to finish a track, on a track like Complex String, that's not enough time to finish a single lap even with the fastest car.

I used to have a document I began writing to list all the car files, their internal name and their on screen name but I don't have it anymore. I'm going to write that up again. Some manufacturers have more car files than cars in the game, indicating hidden cars. This just helps narrow them down. (I found that odd Tommy kaira last time i did this, but I wasn't finished searching)

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone has some data to help this effort. (The larger manufacturers are hard to search because there's so many)

EDIT: I found a new (duplicate) car:
ford 0024 --1.png
ford 0024 --2.png

"fo0024" a Mustang Cobra R with placeholder rims and a single giant rim projected onto the road.

CLK chassis was used for this, as I only swapped the body

I can try helping you build up a database of all the car code names if you want me too, via Google Docs so anyone can have access to the information to where the game is easily moddable.

what's that codes? sorry I'm a newbie.
On what Xenn is stating is that it will be hard to develop these codes to be finalized, in relation to htat you must understand Hex, and all the GameShark or all other platforms of other cheat devices. It's not that simple though since once you don't save anything it is dictated by the amount of RAM the PS2 cached in to look through one of those Memory Editors in full time. We have gathered a lot of information over the years of the entire 1st and 2nd generation of GTs, but I bet we can still find more stuff if we look hard enough.

It takes a bit of time to make a code easily, but you have to know the offset, and the altering digits that come after. PS1 codes usually alter 4-32 bytes of data. While PS2s alters 8-32 bytes of data via local memory saved or cached on the system at all times. Depending on the codes that are used.

It is embedded whether I like it or not...

May have inaccuracies but shouldn't.

By the way I found a Williams F1 but I'm unsure if it is just a copy of one already normally in the NTSC version. I'm unfamiliar with the FXXX cars. I should be a regional version as it is called wl1001, with the first 1 denoting regional. But that doesn't make any sense as regional F1s (Polyphony00Xs) are called pd001X.
wl1001 unknown f1.PNG

Considering there's a similarly named Lotus F1 which is referenced but doesn't exist, I think that the Polyphony00X F1s were originally going to be referred to as lo1024 and wl1001 respectively.
