Nice! What happen in the game if you swap of these with an used one ?
I don't think it would do anything, as it just basically lists all the makers in the game, although I haven't tried.

This is all the makers in OPS2M Demo, I guess they intended to have PD as a maker.

Yeah, I guess I could try it.

I know, but for the final game they decided to make them have no manufacturer names.

I locked all memory addresses with the value "acura" in Cheat Engine to "plymouth", and tried entering Acura's dealer, this resulted. (I am on PAL, BTW, not sure if results would be different if on NTSC-U/NTSC-J.)

Sorry! I'm kinda new to these forums, so I'll try to adjust. Thank you.

I remember Xenn doing that from memory. It’s because Plymouth has no page attached to it just string references and nothing else.

There's no sign of removed manufactures either in the beta UI...I think these manufactures were scrapped in GT2000 (development as scene in GT3's demo Beta circuits which I believe were made for GT2000.

For cars like the Diablo VT, Veyron, EB110 etc. Were cut in GT3 Development.

Hello, I was checking out YouTube and found this video! Looks like Lu (this guy with GT Concept 2001 "Test Tracks" videos) had probably afforded something that may be Store Demo 1 or something close to it

That's definitely before Store Demo 2 (which I just very recently gained access to) Could that be the Trial Demo I've heard about?

For all I know, it have replay cameras set just like in Replay Theater Demo Version, so it's definitely the beginning of 2001. Most vehicles were available or at least they were just controlled by A.I (just like Impreza WRC or 206 WRC) in Store Demo 2. Also, 200 seconds of Time Limit (also seen in Replay Theater). So it's like a demo between Replay Theater and Store Demo 2, but seems like Store Demo 1 (even though only 2 cars of almost 20 are available and only 2 tracks, it seem that the game is close to be finished in about 40-50%)

I watched that video too, it's a cool demo with that "not available" logo ( it can be found in store demo vol 2 and OPS2M demo but it's unused there ) and also 200 secs, which means both races can be completed.

P.S. Here's the logo.

This is probably more modding-related than research, but not enough to warrant creating a modding thread for yet:

The PAL version of GT3 has now been proven to have everything required to make the removed cars like the 911 GT3 work, other than the body models. After adding the relevant models to the GT3.VOL file, the removed cars are fully functional as in the US release.

The first two are in French partly to show that it's PAL, and partly because I'm using a modified save by submaniac93 that has these cars in it.

So, it turns out that smtnorth used to be different (new news for me, at least), but sadly in the US Demo. both smtnorth and smtsouth appear as just dark gray voids (at least for me.) *** So I guess I would have to port the the tracks from a demo to another demo, but I haven't done this sort of porting successfully. I'm gonna need some help. Is porting between demos possible? *The tracks do work, I just didn't select them properly.

EDIT:
Does anyone know if there are some sort of codes or a way with Cheat Engine to control a car in the Replay Theaters?

EDIT V2:Seriously, could someone link me like some instructions on how to properly port stuff? I've tried so many times now, I just manage to make PCSX2 give me an error message when trying to launch the game.

Hey, apparently you added the body files in the GT3.VOL yourself? If you did it yourself, did you use some sort of a program that allows you to edit and build VOL files or did you HEX Edit it?

I wrote a VOL tool myself, but haven't made it public yet as I'm still testing it. It will eventually be open-sourced though.

I've not added any support for demo VOLs or GT2000 VOLs (yet?) as GTVolTool can already extract them, and the usefulness of rebuilding demo VOLs is pretty limited. The US demo is using a GT2000 VOL, so looking at the GTVolTool source code might give you an idea of how they work in order to hex edit them correctly.

If you get it complete, you should announce it here so people can find it. As a request, I'd like it to be able to rebuild the GT2K VOLs too.

I'm currently porting all tracks from the Theater demo to the US demo, both of them have their vol named GT2K.VOL and run on the same engine.
Since not all tracks can be ported at once ( different sizes ) I'll have to make 2 versions. In the meanwhile, here's some screens:

Dang, I've been trying to do that for some time now and have never succeeded. Does ANYONE know if there's like a sorta detailed tutorial on how to do porting? I've tried just too many tries, always manage to just crash the emulator. (I'd prefer a video tutorial but anything will do)

1. Grand Valley
2. Midfield
3. Tokyo (sweeper?)
4. Tokyo again (the under-bridge section)

I was checking this demo Lu uploaded few weeks ago. It's strange, because it's not a Store Demo 1, but rather something like "a playable version of Replay Theater demo". Some tracks are like from OPS2M Demo, but Tokyo, Apricot and few others shown here remains the same from US Demo. Smokey Mountain North have only dirt with made "special road to South section" near second checkpoint. Few tracks such as Apricot, Special Stage Route's 5 & 11 have either glitched start/finish place or few breakable walls. Also, just like in US Demo, there are a lot of textures for Vector, Venturi, Valvoline and Gran Turismo 2 logo

EDIT: Here's also an earlier video for these almost-finished tracks from this demo, they even have track map and logo

I ported all the theater demo tracks to US demo. However, that's not the US demo because the race music is different, so I think he ported them to another demo (or he made the theater demo playable somehow).

Or maybe it's Trial Version or Test Drive version of Gran Turismo 3. I don't know, but it's strange that this version isn't mentioned anywhere, like it's so rare

I guess the RT demo could be made playable, as the Playplay2 demo is exactly like the OPS2M, the VOL files are the exact same size, but they're just created 12 mins apart, but the PlayPlay2 still functions like a RT (no gameplay). This suggests that there is like a 0/1 toggle or something in the game basically that determines if it's playable or not. I could try my luck and try edit the game or just edit with memory editor.

-EDIT Yeah it's not about the VOL file it seems, just swapped the VOL of OPS2M to Play2 and it's still replay only.

RT demo and PlayPlay2 are both replay only demos.
The difference is that the RT demo is the earliest known build of the game ( after GT2000 ) , while PlayPlay2 VOL is identical to the OPS2M.
We should figure it out what toggle the game to "load a replay" instead of "load the menu"

I can tell you, it's no 0-1 toggle that determines it!
