Found this while looking for supercar wallpapers earlier this week. It is the Covini C6W, an Italian 6 wheel supercar inspired by the 1976 Tyrrell P34 formula one car.

This car makes me rub my eyes.

Spotted one on the Nurburgring Webcam a few weeks ago and at the time and had no idea what it was.

I love the Covini. They also made a convertible. I can't find a pic, though.

How does it actually go, surely 6 wheels isn't better for performance?

Not sure on the Covini, but Tyrrell discovered that the same "setup" in their P34 actually created downforce & the car was actually somewhat competitive.

I have been recently reading a book on Concept cars and have came across a few cars that I never knew about.

This is the Ghia Focus from 1992, which had carbon fibre bodywork, a wooden floor and used Escort Cosworth running gear.

This is the Mercedes C112, which was built to test various technologies such as radar distance monitoring and traction control

And now, a Rolls Royce without the Spirit of Ecstasy on the grille and a Hemi under the bonnet. No surprise that it was from Chrysler, the masters of badge engineering.

It actually won a few races and was banned after that if I remember correctly, the biggest advantage it had was in the rain where the first pair of front wheels effectively cleared most of the water for the second pair of front wheels to grip better.
Biggest disadvantage was tyre changing during pit-stops obviously.
It also inspired Panther to create the Six in 1977, a mid-engined twin-turbo Cadillac V8 powered 2 seater convertible of which only 2 were build and sold.

-> I'm glad that someone took my VWL as a reference to this thread. :)

^ Wow, MBZ took great lengths (back then) of producing one sports car just for those 'measley' features. They've could've just customized an C, E or even an S-Class (like today's practices) and be done with it.

BT-> Here's something new:

Prong 3 prototype

^ Its a developmental prototype (for now) created by one man. Most of its components are based on the attention-grabbing-moto-car-hybrid CanAm Spyder.

(This car is already on the VWL log.)

:)

Of course it is.

But also its a really rather hilarious representation of one poor soul's photoshop 'skills'.
Huh? You do know it's a real car bild in the UK?

wikipedia
Although the original sketches have been compared to the Enzo, a mock up of the proposed shape showed an evolution away from the sketches in order to compensate for door openings and the result of wind tunnel testing for air vents. The wheel base has also been extended after a claimed "secret running prototype" had revealed a better stability at higher speeds
