Your Car's Exhaust

Hah, I think he means if the person driving isn't wringing it out and shifting at a reasonable rpm, the full sonorous glory of many exhausts isn't achieved.

In cars that are new, there aren't any problems in revving to a reasonable rpm...

Bu in an antique car it's a little risky, since it's not a new engine...

I got my mate to record a bit of my car last night, and quickly edited a video and chucked it on youTube:

Its not the best quality but you get the idea... Plus I couln't really give it much as it was on a public road.

2001 Z/28, Hooker headers, off road y-pipe, Borla with no plate. 2-3 weeks car will have big cam and more goodies, will update at that time.

Healthy Sounding LS1!

Time to bring this thread back from the dead!

Finally got around to getting a video of my car's exhaust....

My bad on the double post.

Sounds good dude!

Recently got an Axle-back for the Camaro. Crappy camera though, it's all I have for now.

Damnit, there you go making me want a 3SGTE swap now.

This is the sound I'm going for with my Accord. Only this guy kept the single-cammer whereas I've now got twins. All-motor, 179whp.

I'll have a new video for my setup soon...

Cold start and a very small rev to 2K RPM after a wash:

JIC: It's my dad's car. I don't have a car, I just drive one of my parents' cars when I drive

Never have posted what mine sounds like with the header and tune. So instead of a usual flyby or other illegal means, how about an autox video?

Camera car is my friend's Si. I'm the car the goes immediately before him.

The '70 has a fairly healthy sound. 10:1 402 with an Isky Z-45 cam. 244 @.050, 278* Advertised. Exhaust going through a set of Hooker Competition headers, 3" pipe, some old California Turbo mufflers and turn downs in front of the rear end. It's got a bit of a lope at an idle, and it has a nice little growl when you stomp the loud pedal.

The '71 is pretty plain sounding at an idle. Just an 8:1 350 with it's stock 196*/204* hydraulic cam. It has Flowtech headers, 2.5" pipe, Raptor mufflers (Also made by Flowtech if I remember right), and turn downs in front of the rear end. It sounds ok once it gets rolling. I'll post up some videos tomorrow.

Not my car (I've had the pleasure of driving it a few times, though), but the exhaust we installed on a buddy's Elise. 1 of our group apparently recorded it & sent it to me an e-mail after I got home.

What wasn't recorded was the backfire this exhaust can produce when the cam switches over, but I'll make a note to have my own camera ready.

I was surprised seeing an RX-8 shoot fire from a high-rpm lift at the last autocross. It was in a stock class, so it can only have a catback exhaust. I thought it would have needed to be catless to pull that off.

Edit: That Elise sounds mean...Sure you didn't install some extra cylinders?

We are installing a supercharger & hi flow cat for it by the end of the year, as well. :sly:

The amount of crap surrounding the exhaust on this car was pretty surprising, tbh.

Does it have to have a cat? I'd just put a header and test pipe on it...
That would be my route. But, since it isn't my car & my friend doesn't want to have to deal with the emissions testing of not having a cat, a test pipe is probably out of the question.

I tried to convince him though that it'll be spending most of its life next year at MSR as a track car, so why not go all out. :D

Heres my Audi ur-quattro Coupe Turbo with the stock system:

Now replaced with a Milltek Stainless Single Box System, should have a video of this by the end of the week if all goes well with my new Radiator.

Here's an old video clip of my car, unfortunately I didn't rev the engine because the car is already loud enough and I actually liked my neighbors.

Ok, now updated with new Stainless Single Box Milltek system!

Unfortunately I think I had the camera a bit too low down and close the the exhaust as the deep burble it produces partially drowns out the revving, but if I moved it any further back it would be in the middle of the pavement, lol.
I may try and record a better one at a later date.

My FB:

Racing beat collected header (awesome piece), a dynatech split-flow race muffler directly after the header, and then a giant racing beat muffler at the end. One of the better sounding setups I think. It's a bit raspy on initial startup, but once it's warmed up, it sounds quite good. No flames, but definitely some backfires and burbling. Apologies for it not being a very good video.

edit: Also, my clutch fan is dying, so that's what the squealing was.

Interior (with good headphones, the sound is reproduced almost indentically)

Thought I'd repost this outside my thread. Little drive in town and then wide open on a rural road.

A little later than I said, but I uploaded some recent videos to Photobucket. The first one is of the '70 idling. Nothing special, just a mildly cammed big block idling for 20 seconds.

This one is of running the car through the gears. The shifting is quite a bit slower than my usual speed shifts. Don't know why I was granny shifting it.

I'll check and see if the videos I've made of the '70 are uploaded.

I have one recent one of the '71 uploaded. This is a full throttle power shifting run through the gears. I recorded this a few days after the first time I power shifted. That's why I short shifted second gear. I go up to the normal shift RPM now that I've gotten in the groove of it. To be honest power shifting is something I never really thought I would get to.

@Eunos_Cosmo

That is the BEST light around. But why did it take so long to turn around?:dopey:

Anyhow I did a dyno not too long ago.

Yes I know the rims are audacious.
