I don't know about scrapping it outright, but it definitely is too heavy for a modern Japanese supercar. If they plan on keeping up with the current Evo and WRX, they need to loose weight; if they plain on moving upscale to the Porsche/Aston class, they'll need to loose weight just to keep up.

As it is, though, I think it's a highly capable system.

Why would you say that? I don't think the Skyline range handles anything like the those others.
The GTS4 would have softer suspension off the show room as compared to the GTR and it has much smaller brakes. Other than that and the engine they are basiclly the same chassis and drive train.
