The chicane at the end of the Suzuka Circuit. Great overtaking zone for me. I make some dramatic wins from passing through this set of corners.

Very true. The Ai brakes too early, so it's great to squeeze by them, slamming the brakes and getting into the chicane at the latest possible moment. Sometimes I'll screw up tho, and wind up in the small sand/grassy area. :ouch:

The first corner at Fuji is also great. The Ai usually starts braking at about 200m...and for most cars, I can start at about 150 to 100 meters. :) So it's great to draft them down the long straight to keep up with them, and then out-brake them.

I'd have to say all the corners at Tokyo Street, i'm unsure of the actual name its been so long since i've played on GT4, my fav out of those would be the long swooping ones half way round then braking hard to drift round the near 90 degree

Wippermann! like the corkscrew but faster!

also that 180 turn that resembles an oval in Route 246, reminds me a lot of "La Peraltada" from the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, but without the banking ....

I have no idea why, but i liked that U-turn corner at the top of Nurburgring (can't remember what it's called, the one with Jaguar painted on the road in the middle of it)

The Carousel.

There's so many good ones... I'll give my top two, eh?

- The aforementioned uphill left n' right sweep leading to the Midfield straight. It's so satisfying to drop the hammer and blaze away down that massive straight. Even more hair-raising downhill!

- The also-aforementioned bridge at GVS. I love going round through the first tunnel, waiting to burst out into that spectacular view... and then that epic bridge, then the sweeping right hand tunnel after it. Absolutely amazing. If it looks this good in GT4, I'm foaming at the mouth thinking of GT5...

And, a couple of words on the spelling of the Karussell - true, the English term is Carousel, but the way the Germans spell it is Karussell. The Germans gave the corner that name, so it's right that everyone else spells it that way, regardless of what the word is in their language.

For instance, for another section of the track, we still call it the "Flugplatz" rather than "airfield", which it is in our native language, because that is the name of the corner given by the Germans.

Great thread 👍

My favourite 3 are all sequences of corners that are immensly satisfying if you get them right, but so frustrating if you get the wrong.

Third is the Citta di Aria section that Do you race? has already mentioned:

- The insanely narrow downhill section on Citta di Aria, just before that almighty straight. It's hell if you get it wrong, but you feel kind of cocky if you put every wheel right. It makes or breaks the lap.

Second goes to the chicane before the last corner at SSR5 - thread your way through the first 2 whilst braking, chuck the car at the third apex and nail it.

My favourite corner, ever since I first drove it in GT2, is the final chicane at Seattle - get it right and you can carry so much speed through onto the following straight, get it wrong and your lap is toast.

None of them are as much fun in the reverse circuits.

I like the Karusell (sp?) on the Nurb, immense corner that, if you catch it right you ground as you exit, just showing how much camber is on it!

Drive it in real life and you'll never feel that again when racing in GT4 :D

I wonder whether I'm the only one with a penchant for taking childish airborne shortcuts over that last right, erm, "corner" of Trial Mountain...

Another good one is on the inside of the first corner at Infineon, on the grass. It's easier to get to at speed driving the wrong way round the circuit.

For instance, for another section of the track, we still call it the "Flugplatz" rather than "airfield", which it is in our native language, because that is the name of the corner given by the Germans.

Literally in English, "flying place".

I stand corrected 👍

And yeah, I totally forgot about the two last hairpins at Amalfi. Nothing is more satisfying than pulling the handbrake, sliding around and powering out, WRC style :sly:

I would have to say the series of Turns at the beginning of Suzuka. They keep me on the edge of my seat as I push my car past it's limits on those turns.

Those turns are so much fun with the F1 car in GT5P.

The left turns can be taken at 250km/h with full downforce.

Hmm not sure..but I would have to saw I love any corner which is a long sweeper and you can just flat stick the throttle out of it.
Maybe Suzuka the corner that connets those two straights before the chicane. I love that corner.

Thanks.

I love all the responses, but one seems to be missing for me: the really tight two corners on Costa Di Amalfi. Just before the straight.

ever tried drifting on those?? I seldom bring out a Toyota MR2 SW20 every time I race there, it just feels like Irohazaka :dopey: .., just wish they would have cut off a portion of the fence so that I could jump those two hairpins, lol

@ Roo - agreed.., 👍 I always let my MR2 slide around those hairpins.., when I watch the replay, it just looks plain cool. :)

my favorite corner(s) are the esses on Citta 'di Aria on T2.., it feels like a touge, love the way my Spoon Civic tackles those :D 👍👍

The section of multiple corners at Opera Paris. Be carefull not to touch any walls!
Funny, my favorite corners are at the track that I hate the most. And not only that: I got gold there in the super licence today :dopey:

Corners 5 & 6 of tsukuba circuit.
I love Tsukuba as a whole but I love those corners.

Bergwerk ( top of map ) , right before the high speed floor it and give her all she's got section.

Ok, I did an analysis of each course in GT. Each track has a unique corner. These are my personal favourites (I haven't included short versions of the world circuits):

World Circuits
-Tsukuba: Love the right-hander after the second hairpin, it can be taken faster than you think, also the last sweeping corner.
-Laguna Seca: Corkscrew (for obvious reasons)
-Fuji Speedway 80s and 90s: The Sweeping Turn after the first corner is literally terrifying in a high-speed car.
-Fuji Speedway 2005 and 2005GT: I like the first corner in both of them, and the corner that bypasses the chicane (in the GT version).
-Twin Ring Motegi: The corner following the second straight is awesome, the downhill straight means you can brake rather late, and the corner can also be taken rather fast.
-Infineon Raceway (both versions): I love literally all the corners, but the first few particularly.
-Suzuka: Degners Curve, 130R and the Casio Triangle.
-Circuit de la Sarthe I and II: The corner right after the Mulsanne, the Indianapolis and the Ford Chicanes.
-Nurburgring: Flugplatz, Bergwerk, Karoussell (hope I spelled those right) and the chicane before the pit entry.

Original Circuits
-Test Course, Beginner Course: N/A
-Motorland: I find the zig-zag before the final turn is a fun challenge because of the hills.
-Autumn Ring: All the corners are unique, and the track is particularly nice.
-Autumn Ring Mini: The Corners bypassing the original course are rather challenging.
-High Speed Ring: The first corner.
-Trial Mountain: The kink before the start/finish straight is a challenge in a race car
-Midfield Raceway: The kink early in the start/finish straight is like the Eau Rouge!
-Grand Valley Speedway: The hill section before the hairpin, the long sweeping curves and the last corner are awesome.
-Grand Valley East: The hill section bypassing the hairpin is interesting
-Apricot Hill Raceway: The first corner, the long sweeping corner and the last set of corners.
-Deep Forest Raceway: The track may seem easy in a sports car but it's a true challenge in an LMP/Group C car, the last turn is my favourite: can be taken flat out, but the line MUST be precise.
-El Capitan: The track is so much fun in an LMP/Group C car. I'd say the superfast kink before the first sweeping corner, the hill section after the tunnel (really plays with the front/rear balance), and the final set of corners.

City Courses
-George V: Long Sweeping corner and the last corner
-Opera Paris: The kink in the straight is awesome
-Hong Kong: Really like the corners on the waterfront
-Citta di Aria: The chicane and the kink in the back straight are nice
-New York: The sweeping turn before the start/finish straight is nice
-Tokyo R246: The superfast kinks in the straights and the sweeping corners are awesome.
-Cote d Azur: The hairpins are good
-SSR5 and CSR5: The tunnel section is a challenge, plus many of the high-speed corners in SSR5
-Seattle Circuit: The chicane in the start/finish straight and the turns before the hairpin.
-Seoul Central: The long right-left kink in the back straight needs to be taken with care
-Costa di Amalfi: The hill before the 4th hairpin makes it rather difficult to control the car, also the last two corners

Dirt/Snow
-Ice Arena: The whole course is difficult
-Grand Canyon: The first technical section and the corners after the straight are a real challenge.
-Cathedral Rocks Trail II: The corner before the last straight is difficult
-Cathedral Rocks Trail I: Same as Trail II, but the entrance and the exit to and from the Tarmac are difficult.
-Swiss Alps: The fast right hander featured in the license test is so difficult in a rally car
-Chamonix: All the corners
-Tahiti Maze: The speedy section and the kink is difficult (particularly in an Escudo)

PS: You don't need to write all your favourites like I did. Just write a few:tup:

I drove the shorter racetracks in an ASL Garaiya Race Car, the longer tracks in a Pescarolo C60 (both with super-soft tyres), and the dirt courses with a Hyundai Accent Rally Car

If I were to give a personal favourite though, I would say the last corner at the Deep Forest (Normal).

The turn can be taken flat out, but the line MUST be exact. I might approach from a few metres off, next thing I know is I'm on the grass. It's best to hit the inner curbing, although aiming for it without hitting it also works. I also managed a 55 second lap by this method, in an unmodified Pescarolo running on Super-Soft Tyres (my ghost from the previous lap literally flew behind me!).

Definitely have to agree with this one.

Also 7th turn and every turn after that on Infineon Raceway.

And the last few turns before the finish on Twin Ring Motegi. (I think those are the ones I'm thinking of...)

And many more I can't think of right now.👍

This final corner at Deep Forest normal direction has often bumped me a place or two. GREAT place to get some exit-speed. The Ai always slows down too much...usually all it takes is a dab of brakes, a flick of steering, and you're good. The Ai lays on its brakes like it's about to stop to check the mail. :ill:

It would be too difficult to choose between any on the giant list of corners at the Nurburgring which easily qualify as favourites. And I can't be sure about all their names anyway.

I bet not too many people will say Degner 1 and 2 at Suzuka! Certainly less than would say Spoon. I say both!
