Your First Car???

I played through the Super Speedway Endurance (SSE) with my NSX and won it with extreme ease (beat the #1 guy by about 5-6 laps if not more). I got lucky and on the first try got the f090/s :D . I used it and won about 4 more championships with it, amazing machine. I used it on the SSE again and got that Tickford car instead of the 'Vette which I really wanted :( . Oh well guess some other time or when I reach 50%.

I am thinking of doing a diff endurance race now. The only thing I am worried about is doing the race for like 1.5 hours if not more and then not getting an f1 car. That would suck bad.

Btw, I finally beat the IA license  . The final test was really damn hard. It took me like 1 hour + of try after try to beat the minimum bronze time by like .020. The other tests were fairly easy with the exception of like two. I think I am gonna take a break from the tests and just cheese some races with my F1 :D . Thanks for the help btw.

I have played GT1 and GT2 and I just got GT3. Can anyone please tell me what is a good car to start off with? I noticed that you can not get any used cars. So what is a good game plan on a good first car or aleast a good car to save up for. Thanks for any help on this matter:)

Welcome to GTPlanet
I started with the :toyota:Trueno but alot of people say to start with a :toyota: Vitz. Either one you have some extra money left over for 1 or 2 special parts. Or atleast a Racing chip. After you get some money a good car to buy is the Camaro or Camaro SS. They both cost around 25,000 Cr and will serve you well.
Hope this helps. If you need anything else im here so dont b afraid to ask.

Or if u want to really progress, get experience and u have a lot of patience, go for the licenses and get on all of them golds. Then u will get a nice Miata LS, for free!

Hey, welcome to the forums.
As for your question, everyone has their favorites and (like in real life) some will defend them to the death. Or, well, maybe just to nausea or something.

But anyway, I like the Miata as the starter car. Even if you don't start by getting all golds on the B license. Each of the under 18K credit cars have a following, though. The strongest seem to be for the Miata and Trueno, but I haven't done an exhaustive study.

After that, it's really up to you. You can always try some out either in Arcade mode or buy one, try it and don't save unless it's the car you want. I think part of the fun is finding your favs.

Another thing is to look at the upcoming races once you're past the first stages. For instance, if you have a front and rear drive car but need a 4WD, you might want to get one of those. Same with the mid-engine races, etc.

Of course, after you buy your first car, you'll start winning others, so you can be fairly picky about what you want to buy later. A few of my personal favs at the beg/amateur level are the Miata, Integra, RX-7, Imprezza, S2000 and the NSX. But that's just me.

I'd vote for the Miata LS. One nice thing about it, is you can almost immediately run the Roadster enduro. This race nets 100,000 credits and a 25% chance at the F090/S. More likely a miata, which you can sell for a few grand.

This is how the race breaks down:

Roadster Enduro:
I did an oil change, and used Medium-Slick tires.

Settings: ASM = 5; TCS = 2. I should have dropped both of these to zero, but I needed a cushion factor.

I pitted on laps: 8, 16, 24 and 32

Lead AI Pitted on laps: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36 and 39.

I encountered lap traffic on lap 20

MX-5 LS + 1 lap
MX-5 1.8 + 2 laps
MX-5 1.8 + 2 laps
MX-5 + 2 laps
MX-5 + 2 laps

Best Lap : 1’40.118
Total Time: 70’12.685
Average Lap: 1’45.317

So if you can manage a few test laps around the 1'43-1'43 you should not have a problem winning this race. The lead AI will bolt out of the gate, and leave you in the dust. However he pits so often, that you will catch him. If I recall, I caught him just before I pitted the first time.

Good luck.

I used the Mazda MX-5 to start, though I wish I used the Toyota Trueno, which is a much better starter car, and leaves you with money to do some upgrades. As a second car I'd recommend the Ford Mustang SVT, which is cheap and powerful, and can be upgraded loads.

I'm going to second what Der Alta said, though I'm not sure you can afford the Miata LS right off the bat. I'll add a few notes of my own:

Buy the most powerful Miata you can afford, then do the undriven-oil-change trick to increase your horsepower 5% for 250cr.

Since you are an experienced racer, keep the Miata stock for a few races (you should be able to win them) until you can afford Super Slicks. Then, run the Roadster Enduro (which only allows tires and oil as modifications). It will take you less than 75 minutes, and you win 100,000cr + a car (maybe a good one).

Don't buy a Trueno. It's a fine, inexpensive car - but it's also one of the first prize cars you'll win. No need to pay for it since you'll win one soon.

Speaking of prize cars, check out the list Official Prize Car list at the top of the GT3 forum. Print that out and use it to set your race-order strategy.

Above all, have fun, and welcome to GTP! There are a lot of knowledgeable, friendly folks here.

I started with a miata (forget which one) then I went to a Lancer Evo VI T.M.E and I raced with that until the German Touring Car Championships in amatuer. But by then you will have enough cars and you won't have to do a whole lot of buying.

I think the best way to make money fast is to get all golds on the rally liscence. It may take some time, but you get an Impreza Rally Car Prototype! And the rally racis bring in a lot of money and car's easily. Plus you can us your Impreza in 4WD races and in the last race in beginner league.

i used the voltswagen beetle. the best car to use? no. did it do the job? hell yes. however the best car to begin with? SPRINTER TEURENO. although ytou get it as a prize car in one of the first races. even though id still use it as the first car. good luck rookie

Old Files: Started with Mazda Miata MX-5( bought)
Restart: Mazda Miata MX-5 LS (All Golds B-License)

As far as the best car to start with, I'd say the Miata LS. I won it in the B-License Tests, and used the leftover $18,000 to add some racing-line parts.

I started with a Miata. Good handler, can't go wrong with it. :)

The Toyota Sprinter is also good, but its inherent drifting abilities might make you surprised when you buy new cars... the Mazda is a little bit more consistent with what you'll be working with early in the game.

Ok, I'm assuming you're not very good at GT3 (like me) but you want to save money right? My advice: go get all gold in your B-License. Can't do it or don't have time? Get the cheapest car in the game the Daihatsu Mira TR-XX, worth 11,140 cr. Spend the rest on power mods to bring your car up to around 90hp. Ok, you've done that now go do the Lightweight K Cup. No go do the series. When you win, you win a Mini, so sell. Aint no need for that crap. Keep doing the Super Speedway race in the the series, worth 2,500 cr. for the win. The rest is up to you, here's to some happy racing Shadow1826. ;) :) Welcome to the GTP as well. :)

First off, welcome to the Planet.
As for a first car. If you are patient enough, win the first lisence with all golds and use the Miata as described above. If not buy the Mazda, or the PT Cruiser.(it sounds ridiculous, but it has the most HP of the under 18,000cr cars)
If you are either really patient, or very good, Beat all the time trials, in arcade mode, in first place and you will win an Esparante. They aren't all that great to me, but sell it and you will be 500,000 cr richer. (Good luck).
But don't even start the game until you win the IA liscense. You will be eligible for most races at that point. As you win cars, sell the crap. (See the faq on the Home page and see what you should keep.) Once you are at about 50,000 cr. buy either of the Camaros, the Mustang SVT Cobra, or the Lancer Evo 7. And use the remainder to power up which ever car you choose. Then go fill up your garage with won cars.
Note: once you have over 500 Hp and Slick tires go to the super speedway enduro (yes, it will be the longest hour of your life). You can win easily on pit strategy (pit every 10 laps) All of the prize cars here are good either for racing or adding cr to your bank. The least of them will net you 75,000 cr on top of the 150,000 for winning.
ENJOY.

Vitz, oh yeah i was cheap and i used the cheap method that lets you start out kinda suped up at the beggining. i got rid of that peice of **** soon as i got my next car which was either a S2000 or a Mr. 2 the better one. got rid of that to the slowest cars in my garage are my rally cars at 300hp.

mazda mx5 is the way to go... add a turbo and it flies.
th only reson i eventually got rid of myn is that it lacked grip once the hp was boosted thru the roof :P

Mazda Miata LS...won for all golds on the b license. used the money i saved to upgrade it.

The first car i BOUGHT was the Mustang SVT Cobra.

Chalk up one for the Trueno...then went to the Mustang SVT. I think the second car is more important than the first...Need soething that accelerates good
