Dream Theater's Constant Motion and Queens of the Stone Age's Go With The Flow are both tied for first place, with 183 apiece.

A massive, groundbreaking moment in my world of music! :) I’ve never reached the 200 play count mark before, because I’ve been through several computers.

playcounts2.jpg

according to Itunes, it's Around the world byt Daft Punk with 107 counts

this is followed by Peter Bjorn and John with Young folks AND the Boxer by the Chemical Brothers - both on 81 plays

According to my last.fm charts, my top 10:

Contrary to what my charts say, I listen to a great variety of bands.

Soul Coughing/Doughty and TMBG? We're gonna get along fine.

What's your most played song?

Bit hard to tell unless you are using iTunes (where it keeps a count of how many times you've played a song), or use something like Audioscrobbler...

Currently mine is a two-way tie:-

Frank Zappa
- Oh No/Orange County Lumber Truck (from 'Weasels Ripped My Flesh')

and

Jefferson Airplane - D.C.B.A. (from 'Surrealistic Pillow')

both on 25 plays each...

but, I just discovered this:- I've spent the most time listening to Neil Young - Cortez The Killer (from 'Zuma' ) - with 18 plays at 7:31 a time, I've spent over 135 minutes listening to that, whereas Frank Zappa's OCLT has only racked up 127 minutes :)

How do you check how many times and for how long you have listened to each song? I have iTunes (8.2.0.23) and I cant seem to find out how you got that information?

EDIT: ^ Please forget about the above post^
I figured it out. :)....

...And it would have to be: Through Glass by StoneSour

Mine is Arabella - Nabucco with a mere 15 plays, since I lost my play counts when I moved my library to my new computer.

Shock horror! A small change from last time:

1. Starlight - Muse 95 Plays
2. Knights of Cydonia - Muse 88 Plays
3. Plug In Baby - Muse 86 Plays
4. Hysteria - Muse 69 Plays
5. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse 60 Plays

It's funny, I haven't listened to Starlight for ages, or KoC either. I can understand why PIB is there seeming I often play it, and play along to it on guitar. I do the same with Supermassive Black Hole, but not the album version which is listed, I play to the H.A.A.R.P one. Strange.

And my first non Muse song in my most played is ranked 19th on the list, with 33 plays Feeder - Shatter. I think Muse is slowly taking over me

It has been almost two years since I got my iPod, and I just had a quick look at my playcounts and wondered what is my most played song in the last two years? The answers are quite interesting and quite comical - and there are two ways of looking at it... Play Count and Total Playing Time. The former is a better measure of the songs popularity (with me) and the latter favours longer songs.

My top five in both cases are:

Play Count

1= - Home At Last - Steely Dan (Aja, 1977): 71
1= - I Hear You Now - Jon and Vangelis (The Best of Jon and Vangelis, 1984): 71
3= - Third World Man - Steely Dan (Gaucho, 1980): 65
3= - To Be Over - Yes (Relayer, 1974): 65
5 - Deacon Blues - Steely Dan (Aja, 1977): 62

Note that Jon Anderson is also the lead singer/songwriter with Yes, so he has scored two in my top 3, while Steely Dan take all the other slots

Total Playing Time

1 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd (Wish You Were Here, 1975): 10h 8m 15s
2 - To Be Over - Yes (Relayer, 1975): 10h 5m 35s
3 - The Gates Of Delirium - Yes (Relayer, 1975): 9h 52m 12s
4 - Deacon Blues - Steely Dan (Aja, 1977): 7h 52m 14s
5 - Awaken - Yes (Going For The One, 1977): 6h 46m 28s

That's 44 hours, 44 minutes and 44 seconds (?!) listening to just 5 songs

From this, it is highly likely that my two most listened to albums must be Aja (1977) by Steely Dan and Relayer (1975) by Yes...

A quick look shows that Aja (1977) by Steely Dan is likely my most played album, with a total playing time of 25.18:59, more than 2 hours longer than any other album...

Then again I reformatted not to long ago and mostly have been using Winamp...

I wish my player kept track. I'm personally going to guess this...

"Pork and Beans"/ Weezer
"Stigma"/ Noisia
"Shortest Straw", "Blackened"/ Metallica
"Dead Souls", "Last", "Reptile"/ Nine Inch Nails
"Edgecrusher", "Linchpin", "Demanufacture"/ Fear Factory
"Clenching the Fists of Dissent", "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "Halo"/ Machine Head
"If I Hit"/112 Feat. T.I. and Ciara
"Ghetto"/ Fabolous feat. Thara
"A Millie"/ Lil Wayne feat. Cory Gunz
"By The Way"/ Theory of a Deadman
"Nutshell"/ "Down In A Hole (MTV: Unplugged)"/ Alice In Chains

Believe it or not they all get cycled through faily evenly. I was starting to get worried it looked like a favourites list, however.

I hate to say this but i actually have 124 plays for JOURNEY - Dont stop believing...
and second place goes to TURN THE PAGE - METALLICA at 112 plays haha. I think the reason journey is first is because when ever my friend uses my laptop he always plays dont stop believing and it gets annoying sometimes haha

THE SHORTEST STRAW!!! HAS BEEN PULLED ON YOU!! one of my favorites off of ...and justice for all.
A Millie is a cool song too, but it was only cool for the first month it came out because thats all I heard people listening to 24/7. It would never fail me to hear that song AT LEAST five times a day for the first couple months last summer, i would hear some guy listening to it in there car, then at a store and so on...it got annoying fast!

Okay, lets see here...

Top Five

Hooverphonic - Inhaler -837 plays
OceanLab - I Am What I Am - 636 plays
Shinko Ogata - Dearly Beloved ~Reprise~ - 562 plays
Hooverphonic - Barabas - 554 plays
Télépopmusik – Breathe - 499 plays

Pulled from my last.fm charts... Which to give you an idea of how often I have music playing... 102,066 plays total since January 24th, 2008. Which is on average 168 songs a day. Yes, I have music on about 12 hours a day, at the very least.

Most played artist? Hooverphonic and nearly 8k scrobbled so far.

According to itunes, here's my Top 5:

Nickelback - Gotta Be Somebody - 113 plays
Shinedown - Second Chance - 99 plays
3 Doors Down - It's not my time - 95 plays
Linkin Park - New Divide - 89 plays
Nickelback - I'd Come for You - 87 plays

Found a new/old favourite: "Blue Monday"/ Orgy. I must have listened to it about 14 times in a row just now. I have it, a version by Rammstein and a techno cut. Pure sick.

Cheers.
