In my opinion some car shouldn't be premium or even be in the game.

For example, Jeep from WWII, VW van, Isuzu concept who need that and cars from SEMA too.

They should spent that time on many decent cars like Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini Reventon, Maserati MC12, Ferrari F50, DTM cars.:grumpy::grumpy:

Hope to see DLC soon.

I think I'll have more fun driving those old cars than the new Lamborghini's and Ferrari's simply because they aren't just another supercar. Supercars are rather boring. (just my opinion)
I don't know about you but I don't see Ferrari's, Maserati's and Lamborghini's very often, but I often see VW's, Jeep's, Suzuki's and such. And I believe because of that they are more important in a game like this.

Edit: The series is called "the real driving simulator", not "the real supercar racing game".

Hey, Don't talk 🤬 about VW.
And last I checked there was no Jeeps in the game?

It should be called the real racing simulator given how we don't actually do any "normal" driving.

I'll agree to that. My speed in GT rarely goes below 100km/h, whereas my driving in real rarely gets to 100km/h.

Nobody stays in lanes, we face no street signs/lights, no police, "no traffic", everybody is a millionaire driving high end super cars, and lots of them aswell.......

After a long absents but keeping track on this forum I do want to release my opinion about this whole standard / premium story.

It's a marketing thing, plane and simple; there will be TONS of DLC released in the upcoming months where you can download all your favorite tracks and cars Premium..... at a cost. Thanks Kaz, thanks Sony, thanks internet. Sigh.

That may happen however Kaz appears to hate the idea of paid DLC. So I think what you see is what you're going to get. (Provided there is no free DLC)

Nooo! The fact it's more about the cars than the race is why I love GT over Forza. I've always said Forza is a race sim, GT is a driving sim. You play one to win the race, and the other to experience it.

i think that now after we now what cars are P and the ones that aren't i just say everything should be in one game not just release 1 copy this month then another next month

Are you saying they should release the game in a month with everything fixed? (all premiums, etc.)
One month is nowhere near long enough for this. The PS3 is nearing the end of it's life-cycle and GT had to come out to be a commercial success.

Would you people stop pouting about what cars they SHOULD have put in the game? That is YOUR OPINION! Not necessarily what was BEST for the game. I and many others like me are very happy that we don't JUST have a butt-load of super-cars. Bring on the Suzuki Swift challenge if you ask me. Some of the MOST FUN you will EVER have with this game is the tight, close races that SLOWER vehicles bring. Especially online with 15 other drivers. Quit crying already. Get the game, then cry about it, or don't get it at all, like Dev here.

End of its life cycle? Try not even halfway through it! It has only been out for 4 years, and exactly 4 years at that, in the US! This isn't the Xbox we're talking about here, it's PS. The life cycle will be at LEAST 10 years.

I'm not sure why people think so much stuff will be coming as DLC. Its taken them almost 3 years to produce around ~100-125 "premium" cars (compared to GT5P), make a couple of new tracks and to update some old tracks that were in previous games.

Unless they're holding back heaps of content they already have made, at that work rate I dont see how they could release more than a handful of cars and maybe 1 or 2 tracks as DLC in the next 6-12 months.

Sorry poor choice of words. I know the PS2 is still going and it's been out for 10 years however it was out for 6 and then the PS3 came out, this slowed the release of PS2 games dramatically over the last 4 years and now they are trickling out. How many new PS2 games do you know of?

Now the PS3 has been out for 4 years like you said, logically it will be replaced soon.
To me it looks like the PS3 should be replaced in the next 2-3 years with a PS4 or whatever they call it.

But since this thread shouldn't concern itself with this topic I'm going to stop here.

What I was saying in my previous comment simply says that for GT5 to be a commercial success on the PS3 it would need to be out soon, as the best time to release a game is near the end of the year and they don't have many of them left for the PS3. (Without a new console looming overhead)

Nobody wants to have new consoles any time soon. Publishers don't want them. Developers don't want them. And, most importantly, Sony and Microsoft don't want them. They just finished digging themselves out of the financial hole after 3/9 years (respectively) of losing money, so they will both want to ride this out for the time being.

Both Sony and Microsoft have claimed their consoles are aiming for a 10-year life cycle this time around, and considering all the new upgrades (3D support, Kinect, Move and so on) it's clear they're trying to keep them fresh for as long as possible. I think they'll ride this one for a while, a new console now couldn't really offer much in terms of improvement. It'd be somewhat minimal in most peoples eyes, the way DVD to Blu-ray was. Sure there's a difference, but DVDs still look good so people were hesitating when it came to the switch.

Judging from what I've seen in this thread, there are a large number of guys who are truly happy with standard cars. That's fine, I wish I could feel the same way. But one thing that even the most ardent GT fan can't deny is this: it should never have been this way. If you're happy with it, good for you. But I've said it before and I'll say it again. In a car game, the cars themselves are top priority. Yes, features like weather and day/night, course maker, etc. are all very nice, but they must take a back seat to the cars themselves. It's also pointless trying to defend PD by saying that graphics are not important, because here is a company that has always been about top-notch graphics.

With the current international currency and market climate what it is, expect this gaming generation to be longer. Honestly, a PS4 announcment 4 maybe 5 years from now. With a lauch a year later. Could even be further back than that. We may just need larger space for GT6.. I understand there are 300gb blu rays avalible?

I agree that graphics are important... which is why I'm glad they sidelined from the premium stuff a bit to give us the weather and day-night cycle. There's no point in the cars looking great if the scenery doesn't.

Hood cam/ roof cam in Nurburgring at night in the rain will still be awesome.

According to the latest info by a GTPlanet user who's got a copy of GT5, Standard cars cannot be used with the Photo Travel feature :(
The normal Photo Mode works for them, though.

More limitations, eh?
Why doesn't that suprise me in the least?

Okay, okay, I should bee happy that they can be used in the normal Photo Mode, right? Right? :sly:

Right. So you're telling me when you play a GT game it's irrelevant to you whether you come last or win the race? The experience is the most important thing? Tell me, what do you do in GT if you don't race? Simply 'drive' around the tracks at a leisurely 40mph admiring the scenary? :)

I did that often in previous GTs!

My point is the main focus of GT, like any other racing/car series, is to race. In all GT's, you don't have exercises which tell you to "Ok, drive down Nurburgring at 40mph admiring the scenary. Try not to exceed 60mph"
Sure, there are license tests but even in those the idea is to get the fastest lap time (in other words, floor the gas pedal), drive around cones to see how fast your time is, etc.

When you go out on a track against other cars, you race against them, generally speaking. You don't say "Wow, look at that tree over there, I'm going to slow down and admire it"
