I wish I would have saved the replay of that, I thought for sure we touched... I don't know how we didn't.

I'll send it to you as soon as I can (unless someone else beats me to it).

After a short exchange of messages with Drandiiski, it appears I should confirm again a rule: wherever the place, and whatever happens in real life in those places, you still have to keep at least 2 wheels on the track. If by accident you happen to go over the line, you need to slow down to clearly show that you're not going to take advantage of that mistake.

Other examples (but this is NOT an exhaustive list):

- the concrete and the last corner at Deep Forest
- Pouhon and La Source at Spa
- exit of Ascari at Monza
- the very last curve at Indy road course

The only already confirmed exception so far is London's pavements (the reason being the track is already narrow enough WITH the pavements).

And remember this principle: if you're not sure if you can go over the line or not, that means you can't.

I'll add a paragraph in the Rule Book.

Note: I've also read @watermelonpunch's Track Boundary Directory and as for the allowed exceptions, I will very probably confirm the same list for consistency, since a number of drivers participate in both series. And because we tend to agree on a lot of things!

Oh and @KingKlingeling, I forgot about it: your track reentry at Silverstone when you went wide in the last chicane was rather dangerous...

I guess it would have been a bit more helpful to go over the specifics of the track boundaries like in Watermelon's directory. If I had known beforehand that the Chapels tarmac is off limits I would have respected that boundary more. It's the only place where abusing the line felt natural. Its why I think the penalties handed out are a bit harsh, but agreeable in retrospect.

Also @watermelonpunch and @WarriusZero, how would you guys (and lady) handle the chicane "curbing" at Ascari (Rafael [T1] and Piff-Paff [T15?]), where the GT6 allowed "red time" still permits full use of the curb, but the tarmac follows a very undriveable back-cut?

Thats what I would say , too !

I'm triing to avoid this in the next events , I'm sorry for everyone who was involved :(

Bout my Track Boundaries Directory...

It's a work in progress, and I would appreciate anyone asking more questions, so that things that are other sources of confusion or uncertainty can be addressed there. Even if you're not participating in the MMShuffle races... I appreciate being reminded of various points in tracks that can cause people to wonder where the legal boundary lies.
I hope to make it a pretty exhaustive list in the end.
Because there are a lot of places on various tracks that people don't always think about until they are in a race... and suddenly see someone who puts wheels off somewhere and gains some advantage.

I have updated it with a particular about the Ascari track.
Clearly this is a difficult chicane and I would be hard-pressed to be overly zealous about penalizing track boundary violations at those chicanes, depending on the circumstances. But at least if the boundaries are specified... then you have a basis on how to start judging that chicane.
It's kind of like at Monza... there are areas that you shouldn't be going wide or cutting... But in the case of heavy traffic, or avoiding an accident... or in the case where you make no pass, and gain no advantage... I wouldn't nitpick about certain things, when an accident is made and maybe someone lifts off or gains no advantage in the first place.

But my general thinking is - you should NOT get in the habit of going wide or cutting as your normal line in a track. 👎

For example, if the concrete is allowed at Deep Forest - you can practice that to perfection and really really improve your lap times. If you are the only one cutting across the concrete, and everyone else is not... then clearly there is an unfair advantage that would qualify as cheating! And naturally, that makes other drivers annoyed because we all want to place based on merit within common rules of conduct. 👍

I understand where you come from, @Third Reign , Drandiiski also mentioned the Ascari chicane at Monza.
Even though the rules state that you should always keep on the track, the clarification is necessary.

As for Ascari, I would also allow going over these spots for the very reasons you suggested.

That chicane at Ascari is quite insane...

If you look at the video I made (linked from taht post)... you can watch the white car lead the pack into the chicane... now that white car - would I penalize that white car for cutitng the chicane?
No - but because he had a pack of cars behind him and negotiating it better could've caused an accident - like you see the Alfa Romeo Speciale do so in the pack of cars... that car does NOT cut the chicane - but creates more problems in doing so. *sigh*

So clearly it's very difficult to say.

But in general I would say this - if you have no cars close behind you or aside you - you shouldn't be cutting across and especially not mowing the grass...
And if you are behind cars heading into that Ascari chicane - it should be common sense not to try and go 2+ wide through that chicane.

Added:
I think we're all people with brains of course... and we should know what is cheating and what is not.
It should be understood that trying to cheat is bad, and trying to obey the agreed upon rules is good.
And to determine between what is fair and what is out of bounds, that's why sometimes you need stewardship & reviews for these things... because it's not always a clear black & white issue.

It's just a big coincidence that all of these photomodes have cars in the sand at Paddock by the BMW Power sign.

Nice shots! I see myself in the dirt on three of them.. Was so worried that I did not know Silverstone, that I ended up practising only on it and that showed a few times on the first corner of Brands Hatch...

I've edited the Rule Book a lot. The main changes are in:
-the Rules of Conduct, which I tried to simplify to get my message across more efficiently
-the Track Boundaries, which are a work in progress. Although to me, the list of places where going off track is prohibited is a bit unnecessary...
- Incidents

Note the detail at Ascari: in turn 1 and 15, you can go over the flat curbs, but you can't put any wheel on the grass

Yes you can. I doubt all 15 'regular' drivers will make it so there should be room for many reserve drivers...
And remember, all you need to be a regular driver is to be more regular than a regular driver. (very simple)

Can you still join the fun? This club sounds great.

Well I definitely can, but I'm not sure about you... :D

Before I can let any more people join in, I need to know how many of the already interested people will turn up.
Then I need to know if you have any experience racing in a clean lobby, if you've done your homework (see 1st post) and how you feel about it.

You seem to be a new GTP member so I will need you to try hard to convince me...

I can't make for tonights race guys. Had a weekend a partying, did not practice at all, and today I'm in no condition to drive save. Have fun and I'll see you next time.
