Zero Cup

I generally never practice the tracks or the cars anytime it's race day I just come in ready to drive with my skill and mostly come first or second (depending on the car and track) I'm assuming you all practice, but I have never practice and I don't know how I come first or second I guess it's my natural skill :D

I have received an invitation to join a forum in the name of the Zero Cup, allowing us to advertise our series and to organise some Club vs Club racing. I personally would not have the time to do it. Would someone be interested in 1) participating in some more races, including ones not in the format of the Zero Cup, obviously AND/OR 2) representing the Zero Cup on that forum?
My decision to accept this invitation will depend very much on the amount of enthusiasm shown regarding this matter. The Zero Cup doesn't have to depend only on me.

Which also brings me to suggest that if you were interested in organising and/or hosting a Zero Cup event (by choosing the car, tracks, laps, etc), you could have a go. You may even see it as a platform to practice your hosting skills in case you wanted to start something. Not that I do anything special anyway...

For example I won't be available on the 14th. If enough people want to race that day and if one wants to come forward to be a host, let me know. It would have to be your event, though. :)

I've watched some replays and a few things have come up. Here is how I see it, feel free not to agree or to argue, and know that I am not thinking it applies to everyone, but I think it applies to the group in general, including me sometimes, probably.

I think there is a tendency for the quicker drivers not to respect the slower ones, sometimes forcing their way through, even making avoidable contacts where they would not take so many risks or they would make concessions if they were racing against their fellow quick drivers.

Not respecting slower drivers, as slow as they may be, is the best way to make them feel unwelcome or unworthy of their track position, sometimes maybe even pushing then to give away a position without a real fight.

If I'm wrong in my assumption of both sides, please shout.

I also noticed some cases of careless driving leading to ruining other people's racing without making any concessions or by not checking their surroundings when recovering after a crash. I'll sort that out in private.

2 things, kkg. 1) I don't always watch the replays so unless someone says something, I won't know. But 2) in the bits I watched yesterday you did nothing wrong. ;)

I'd say sometimes in lap 1, you go through gaps I wouldn't try but that could also be me preferring the cautious approach.

2 winners tonight, with the same finishing positions, so there's nothing to separate them.

Cheers for setting it up Warrius, i was a complete mess with first track, finally got the hang of it last race, how many of you use manual?...no problem if you want to hide it  im definetly going to try it out this week practicing.

Agreed thank you for setting it up warrius. Excellent racing each and everyone. Willow springs is a bad track for me but I was starting to get a hang of it. It seems everyone was having to trouble and going off there. 2nd race at clubman was more fun than i thought it would be. Warrius was and I were sticking together throughout most of the race. Spa in my opinion was a great track and warrius and I had another great battle there too.

I have used manual for quite a while however there was a time when I did use automatic. That was during my beginning days of gran turismo. I used automatic during gt3 and at first during gt4 but then I just started using manual and I liked the sense of control much better and I drove manual ever since.

I've never really liked automatic. I had it on when I first started at GT2, but I quickly got annoyed every time the car changed gears when I didn't want it to. So after the first few weeks I've been controlling the gears myself. It helps a lot to be able to induce a bit of oversteer mid corner when manually downshifting or saving the gearchange time on unnecessary shifts, especially when the shifts are long like in the 2000GT. Shortshifting is also a common technique to keep the rear planted on corner exits, certainly not possible to do if you cant change the gears yourself.

Cheers Daddyo and Third Reign, i seen a youtube clip were someone did 0 to 200 mph on a straight line just over a second quicker with manual, since the days of forza ive been meaning to try manual, i didnt bother in that game as i knew i was moving to the clearer side of gaming with the ps3 :)(also thank god the ps4 seems to be ripping the xbox one apart) nos the time to try manual, i was thinking only it would give me more speed, which it will do, and didnt even think about how it might help control wise.

Cheers

Yes all good points third reign. I have control of shifting cars down but I haven't quite mastered when to downshift when coming into corners especially one I'm not very familiar with. Also I haven't been able to manipulate it to change the steering during a turn but yeah I believe I know what you're talking about as I have done that by accident a lot. I honestly feel like slower cars like ones with less than 100hp are more difficult to figure out when to shift. Take the autozam for example. It has extremely high rpms however it's better and quicker to shift at mid to high rpms on it as the car begins to slow its speed gain when your rpms are too high. Automatic will have you shifting up in those high rpms which is significantly slower. I've always liked having a sense of control and if I when I was going through the tutorial for gt6, it was driving me nuts not being able to shift during it. Knowing when to shift depends on the car and it takes a little playing around to find the sweet spot.

Wow look at this wall of text

Good racing yesterday:) Allways manual for me, I try use engine with braking, changing down, before corner.

always manual for me , otherwise my th8rs were pretty useless
there are only 2 cars in the game so far where I have to use auto transmission. the pooper jag and the merc sl55 :irked: they sound weired at downshifting and I can't get used to shifting without getting a response from the engine :odd:

Trust me, when you get used to it, you will never want to go back. Do you want some help mr white? I can't make any promises but I may have time this weekend to help you out if you want.
