:scared: (it was a close thing there... glad there were no more laps!)

Please don't post any photos of my Apricot race

I was a headless chicken round there. Made two big mistakes and in a one-make series your usually punished and I was doing everything to stop you lapping me!

Well now I want to go watch the replay and see this excitement. :sly: :mischievous:

Wait...what Apricot race?

Oh you mean this race. :boggled:

I was thinking you couldn't be talking to me - I never lap anybody!
I didn't know it was a possibility actually I was so worried about being passed. :nervous:

It reminds me of a race last year or the year before... we had a race with the Volvo Estates. On Autumn Ring Mini, and the one guy, who was usually very fast, was being lapped by the entire grid at Auturmn Mini in a much shorter race. :boggled: He kept going - he was driving his heart out. And after the race he started saying, "What is going on, I've never been lapped in my life!"
Then it turned out he had his power limiter down to 70% or something for some odd unknown reason.

Anyhow I could've been lapped at London for sure if I messed up just one more time. :ill:

hahaha, i wish i could have that excuse. I think I've done Apricot Hill so much in various karts recently that it threw me being in the Elan. Once you get off line on that track your out of sequence and it gets worse and worse. A surprisingly techincal track!

Thanks for the photos, @watermelonpunch , I wish I had a chance to do it myself, but I still haven't had time to even watch any replays...

I'm still waiting to see what people think of a possible change of time (thanks to those who have already answered).

It IS a tough track! That's why I was so shocked I did well at all. Though I should say - I test a lot of cars, and I always test them at Autumn Ring Mini - so it IS one of my better tracks.
It's also SO short that it would be easy to get lapped there, than any other track!!!
I think if you're going to get lapped - Autumn Mini is the place you can say - hey, the track is so short who wouldn't get lapped!?!
And yeah, if you miss your rhythm ... I've been there. Once I start messing up I tend to keep on messing up. :ill:
I had the luxury of starting in front - which makes me very nervous usually... but it's a definitely boon on tight tracks. And so I was able to get into a rhythm.

Also, that chicane-type area of turns - before the turn onto the S/F straight... You know, the part where it's easy for people to accidentally cut the corner there on the left?
You really have to start braking before the set of turns. It's a whole different story in say a kart - if that's what you're used to using there.
The Elan (and most low power RWD cars) benefit from getting your braking done before the sharp right-hander... and then kind of coasting it through the chicaney bits in a straighter line with momentum... so then once you're past that left hand part, your car is balanced (not all loose & wombly), and you can power out and get a good run of steady stable momentum for the last turn & up the hill of the S/F straight.

Hi guys! I just joined the forum, but I've been lurking for a few months until now. I was looking for a racing club and found this one so I registered. I like the idea of no tuning and the schedule is OK for me. I’ve been simracing on PC for about 5 years now, but last year I finally got a PS3 so I can enjoy GT5 and GT6. I’m using a DFGT and Obutto cockpit and I may not be very fast, but I’m careful when racing online.
So if you could join me in your racing club that will be great! At least you don’t need to worry about coming last lol :)

Hi @drandiiski , I'm happy to welcome you to our group but first I need to know: have you read the rule book (links available in the obvious places)? Was it boring or useful?

Well I’m familiar with the racing etiquette and a quick scan though the rule book proved that (to me), but I’ll read it carefully just to be sure.

You may join us on Monday then, as a reserve. The experience shows that there is always room for the reserves anyway.

The experience also shows that you'll get grilled by the others if you drive erratically!
But I'm not worrying about you. Sim racing on PC for 5 years has got to be good enough. (Still read everything carefully, though... ;))

Please don't forget to send me a friend request (I won't be around my PS3 for a few hours).

Thank you! I also won't be online for at least 3-4h because I'm at work. Will send you a friend request later and start practising:)

I've seen you've been racing with Watermelon so that's good enough to me not to ask any questions about clean driving (note I expect you to have read everything there is to read - should be ok, you must be used to long posts, thanks to Watermelon...). I've not thought I'd have to save seats 2 events ahead but the grids have been about half full so far so there shouldn't be any trouble.

Thanks I familiar with clean racing. It's nothing foreign to me. Yes I am used to reading the essays that watermelon churns out

I've given the start time some thought and here's what I'd like to do. The event will still officially start at 8pm GMT but the lobby will be opened up to half an hour earlier for some practice.

The first race will start promptly at 8:05pm which means everyone is expected to turn up either on time or early, or face missing the first race. I'm also planning on having only about 5 min between each race, as the practice would have been done beforehand. So if you need to get a break, go as soon as a race is finished...

Btw just to let you know in advance i won't be able to make it tomorrow nights race :( sucks really that im going to be missing out on a great handling car, sorry dudes hope you find a new winner ;) but i can defo make it for the ferrari dino event it will be fun to push that car around

It's a bit of a shame for you that you're missing this event since you've mentioned the Genesis a while ago.

I've done some checks about all the settings I'm using when creating the lobby and here are the settings that are changing:

Race quality: standard (for a test tomorrow, I'd rather set it to High)
Voice chat quality: Very low
Visible damage: off

And this one that I forgot to set so far:
Start type: Grid start with False Start check

EDIT: Rule book edited yet again to record all these changes and adjustments
