It was fun watching the Golf club meeting. Plenty of strong drives going along a fairway before finding a sand trap. Nobody got a hole in one but my own performance was a bit of a bogey, as I was cooking dinner while the event took place!

Hope to take part properly in the next one.

In race 2, I did a few laps. Got a 1:20.4 and the fastest lap was 1:20.1 if I recall correctly.

Fun car and good tracks to showcase the great handling of the Golf. 👍
Thanks @Sparkz_360 for this nice evening!

So is it the A-class next week?

Here is the full schedule:

1st August 20:00BST - Mercedes-Benz A 160 Avantgarde '98
Tires: Comfort Soft
  1. Cape Ring Inside
  2. Nürburgring Nordschleife
  3. Chamonix East
Yes, i hope a refreshing detour in the snow would be welcomed in these hot summer nights. :P

Nice track selection and good to see that old commercial again.
Mika was my favorite F1 driver back then.

Schumacher was my favorite for obvious reasons, but Mika had great dry humor and was a great rival. He is still well known and popular in Germany.
Yeah, I liked Schumi too. The two of them had a great rivalry and they even raced each other in Formula 3 before making it to the top.
They also showed each other respect off the track, more so than probably any other rivalry I've witnessed.

Catalunya 2001 was a good example of that. They both knew it was Mika's last year and Mika dominated the race after a difficult start to the season, but retired on the penultimate lap with clutch failure.

Michael won the race and the officials wanted him up on the podium for the post-race ceremonies but he said no and waited until Mika returned back to parc ferme. Michael ran around the fencing and up to Mika to say he felt bad for what happened. He didn't have to do that but it showed how well they got along with each other despite driving for rival teams.

Another instance I remember of their friendly rivalry was when Mika supported Michael in the Monza 2000 press conference.

Whats this?

Hi guys, we race every Monday at 20:00 BST, every week another stock car, only oil change allowed. Next Monday we'll do the Benz A-Class. We do 3 20min races on different tracks. Specialities are random weather (yes, even the weather settings are chosen randomly), infinite reverse grid and the resulting manual grid lineup before the first race and the Gentleman's Yellow Flag.
All that can be found in the rulebook, carefully compiled by @WarriusZero, the founder of ZeroCup who left us for ProjectCars. He makes a cameo appearance now and then and his future plans include a ZeroCup for Assetto Corsa on the PS4.
If clean, casual but competitive racing sounds like your thing, join the club!
If you want to check out the action here are some videos shot by infamous cinematographer @JockeP22: 👍

You forgot to mention the two guys who make it all happen week after week, @tarnheld & @Sparkz_360.
Keep it up guys, I really enjoy being part of the club.

Todays races should be fun. Looking forward to Nordschleife.

Should have used GT Arena, Autumn Ring Mini and one of the Matterhorn versions. 👍

Driving this on Nordschleife will basically be a boring 20 minute drive drive to work...

Chamonix East might have been fun. Chamonix Main complete track, too, a commute on snow is a rare and fun thing in UK as we don't use snow tyres.

EDIT: Nordschleife was fun thanks to the slipstream settings and @JockeP22 throwing a Gentleman's Yellow Flag at the perfect early stage. Bit of confusion on the restart but we were back together by the next sector and a group of 3 or 4 were always competing at the front until the very end.

Sparks accidentally wiped me out of 1st place at the downhill right, left hairpin, right before the bridge. (Lowest point of track.) He gave the place back but Jocke sneaked past both of us. Hardly a gentleman...that's just not cricket!

Eventually got myself the win! With some fantastic wheel to wheel. Watery cutbacks, like a pro regatta.

EDIT: Chamonix East was great fun! Frustrating to be in 2nd place with fastest lap 3 times over.

The snow spray is 100% solid and really white. Impossible to see the track when under 1 second away.

I held the gap and brought it down to 0.6 on the long downhill straight. But could not see the track, not even the driving line HUD! So I slid out after missing my turn-in point for the difficult uphill right sweeper after the bowl section.

In the practice before the race, I got fastest time. That earnt me last place on the grid. That felt a bit trolling. Especially as I had slowest practise time in first race yet was given last place on grid by the host. Weird grid logic and 100% rain being used without advertising that before the event...makes it feel a bit rigged in the host's favour.

Only reason I was competitive here was from doing a stock European FF club time trial event in the Art of Racing Grand Championship on the full Chamonix. Everyone else was miles and miles behind us.

Chamonix Race Summary
(Fun jostling for position.)
1:36.3 (fastest lap)
(In snow for several laps, closing up then sliding out unsighted.)
1:36.3 (slight improvement after dropping back to 2 seconds)
1:36.1 (nailed it on last lap!)

1st place had a best lap of only 1:36.6 before I set my 1:36.3 lap. So, quarter to half a second per lap faster...the race was decided by PD's opaque snow! :guilty:

Sorry I came in late then promptly pitted after only 2-3 laps then ran a couple of laps at the end to come in 4 laps behind.

However I got my fastest lap at 1.37.xx while I was lapping at the back!?!

Got lots of family staying and thought I'd get in a sneaky race. But they found me out and demanded attention hence my sudden pit and partial departure from the snow!

Great fun at the start.

Grid procedures and weather settings are clearly stated in the rules and links found in the opening post of the thread. > #1
The weather conditions will be known when loading the track.
Hardly a gentleman...

Again when one participates in a new club for the first time one should really take a few minutes
to read up on the rules. I feel it's rude to accuse the host of various things when you're not aware of
the rulebook and also to try and persuade the hosts to alter the track itinerary while in the lobby.
We should respect the choices by tarnheld and Sparks. It was a nice couple of races with clean and respectful maneuvers, as it should be, but the negative vibes can bring the enjoyment factor down a couple of notches.

The video starts playing at the end of lap 1
since the yellow flag period took away so much race time.

Edit;
If any of the Zero Cup'ers are up for a challenge the RR club
is racing the Audi streamliner today at 20:30pm U.K. > #660

Oh no, now I'm jealous. The NSX and the RX7 are some of my fondest memories.
Also I recommend the premium Hyundai. These are proper Zero Cup cars, not these fantasy VGT!

And no, I can't make an exception and turn up, I'll be around 750 miles away from my Playstations next Monday...

The A-Class was unusually lively, extremely fun to throw around and not too sluggish. In slower cars it's a feat to pass as the speed differences are usually tiny, that's why i prefer them for the great battles they deliver. The rain at the Nordschleife just made the car come alive, and with the spray it was an exciting race, as seen in Jocke's video! @gkgamer would have loved it! :D The Chamonix race was a gamble, i love snow races but i know a lot of you aren't exactly fond of it, so write it off as the host indulging in guilty pleasures. :P

We run infinite reverse grid that is even preserved between races, that's why we use the manual grid procedure before the first race. And the weather settings on tracks that support them always come from a random generator, just like in real life. See rulebook.

Jocke's move is perfectly clean and you and i would have done that same in that situation. And from the rulebook again:

"Avoid making any vague comments on the public forum. It's not constructive and it disrupts the peace between drivers."

You and i know you got the speed to be competitive, so no need for personal accusations after the race, i hope you are better than that. If you feel you have an incident to report, please do it via private message.

The cricket comment is a friendly jibe, not an incident report. :P

Personally I never go relentlessly for the win when hosting. The host will be unfairly familiar with the combination they have chosen. If I have the lead in my event with some time to go, I position swap and try to race back up to it. If I get it again, I position swap again. More fun for everyone that way, imho. That's all. 👍

In the Nurb race, looks like 8:20 is where I secured the win. Aced the downward jump into the surprisingly fast right. Jocke got a bit sideways on entry and lost speed all the way along the fast sweeping bends which follow. That allowed me about 1.5 seconds gap, safely outside the slipstream for the very long final straight.

A lot of racing to get to that point in the previous couple of minutes, though! I stand corrected about Nurb with slow cars - so long as a yellow flag is thrown to counter the early field spread. (Great call by Jocke, as I already said.) Then everyone has a feel for the track and the slipstream keeps them together.

10:00 Sparks360 more like Sharks360! ^_^

Here is the Wikipedia page. The episode is from series 7 episode 6.

There was / is a video on YouTube however it's not available in the UK due to a BBC worldwide copyright claim.

Give it a try. Your country might be able to play it.

(now i hope it is what it says on the tin :scared:)
