I love snow races but i know a lot of you aren't exactly fond of it
I love snow races too. OK I can't see where I'm going half the time* but that just gives me incentive to get past the car in front.

*I usually drive with my eyes shut anyway.

Great video @JockeP22, plenty of last lap action. The Nordschleife with full rain! @bloodyboyblue must have been loving it. :sly:

Actually those little A class Mercs look pretty nifty.

now i hope it is what it says on the tin :scared:
It's a video of cats dancing - is that correct? :mischievous:

Personally I never go relentlessly for the win when hosting. The host will be unfairly familiar with the combination they have chosen. If I have the lead in my event with some time to go, I position swap and try to race back up to it. If I get it again, I position swap again. More fun for everyone that way, imho. That's all. 👍

Zero Cup, zero practice for me, i just bought the car 15min before the races. Besides, can't let the win against a WRS D1 driver slip. :P

Give it a try. Your country might be able to play it.

Not working here too. :indiff: Here is a test drive of the NSX Type R including the Nordschleife in the second part: :dopey:

And here is a NSX Type R Shoortout from BestMotoring on Fuji:

I've just had a moment of nostalgia... I just found some GT5 custom tracks related pictures.

This is currently my room (it's much tidier than this I promise ) anyway I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what I can do to my room to make it suitable for a steering wheel set up, always wanted one but as you can see, too small.

Do I move things around or just be patient and wait till I get a bigger room?

I use an omega wheel stand which I fold up to race each time, and put away once done. It takes seconds, and folds almost flat. You leave the wheel and the pedals on, so the diameter of the wheel is the height once folded. I tuck it down the side of the sofa, wheel first, bottom of the frame only just pops out.

Looking at your room it would fit perfectly between the chair and the TV for racing. The stand is solid with hardly any wobble.

Go for it. Then tidy your room young man. ;)

There are some neat ideas for small rooms in the Sim Racing Hardware forum, for example this one:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/the-least-conspicuous-way-to-race.343060/#post-11249886

And others in this thread, i think the Omega stand is mentioned too and the Wheelstand Pro which i use. The Wheelstand holds the wheel and pedals and can be folded but it's still pretty clunky to stow away. So maybe for your room a modified armchair like in the post linked above could be the way.

It is a little er, cramped in there for a triple screen full rig setup.

I think, perhaps as the others have said, a wheel stand of some sort would be your best option at the moment. It would be something you could use in the future in a bigger room as well. You will probably need a sturdier (and more comfortable) chair though. A all round stable setup is beneficial with a FFB wheel, if everything is wobbling about it may put you off and you may then stop using it.

To save a little space you perhaps could mount the TV to the wall with maybe a shelf to hold the console and controllers etc under/besides it. Above the bed would seem a good place, you'd then sit that way to race.

Stay away from the ironing board! I tried it a long time ago with my DFGT, to prove to myself that it couldn't work, and it's actually even worse than it looks...

The problem with such compact solutions is if you compromise too much with the sitting position, for example with the example above, the pedals are right under the wheel and it must feel like driving a bus.

Yeah, true. If you can afford it, the omega stand looks like the best, i'd prefer it over the wheelstand pro because the pedals are unobstructed, and that's the one thing that bothers me. 👍

One thing to remember when you plan on buying a wheel is the time needed to get used to it. When i switched to the wheel, it was like learning to drive again. All the muscle memory from the DS3 is gone, and you will be much slower for a couple of weeks. If you are really fast and consistent with the DS3 (and i can attest you are quick @Sparkz_360 ), don't expect to be much faster with the weel, in fact you will struggle to get to your DS3 pace. It's really a different experience, it's not making you quicker at all, it's the practice and dedication that makes you quick. 👍

Stay away from the ironing board
^ This

Sturdy = Good
Ironing board = Not sturdy

As Tarn says a wheel isn't going to make you much quicker but with good FFB it's the overall experience that is enhanced. It's much more natural with a wheel & peddles anyway and if you get the setup right you will not want to go back to a controller. Not that I ever could drive with a controller!

@Sparkz_360 One thing that nobody has asked is what wheel(s) are you thinking about getting? And I suppose that directly relates to how much do you have/want to spend. One thing to note is that older Logitech wheels do not (directly) work on the PS4, so that's worth bearing in mind.

And showing a picture would be cruel...
Go on, Sparkz won't look. :P

I was thinking of getting a G27 but that's a bit pricey, any other wheels in mind?
A good wheel. That's what I'm currently using and I think Tarn as well. And yes they are still rather pricey considering it is an older model now. But, as I mentioned above, it won't work on the PS4 officially. There is a mod that requires a bit of wiring and a PC running some software but with your limited space this might become a problem - more wires, PC ect.

Assuming you are sticking with the PlayStation, for some future proofing I'd look towards the Thrustmaster T150 or the Logitech G29, both in a similar price range depending on what deals you can find. @buybon355 has the T150 and his happy with it. I bought a G29 cheap(ish) in the Xmas sales last year just to be next gen ready and a back up to my G27. I've tried it and it's much like the G27, perhaps with some small improvements.

There are dearer alternatives but they are... dearer! (A T300 would be nice. Although they did suffer from reliability problems)

Secondhand might be a way to go or like me wait for the black Friday or midwinter sales.

Some of the other guys may have some views and ideas also.

Whatever you get do get it secured into place (on stand), the FFB can be quite strong.

You have a PS4, so I would discourage you from buying a G27. What's your budget? The G29 is currently £180 on Amazon.

Is the T150 good enough?

Yep, went from dfgt to t150. Nice and cheap but does the trick for me. Brake pedal could be a bit more firm, but other than that, no real complaints for the money, plus it works on ps4 too.

As tarnheld says, don't expect miracle lap times. Took me about 6 months to get back to full controller pace. Can't say I'm any quicker on the wheel really, just some things are easier, throttle control for example, but I was always x and square, so if you use the triggers, there's not a huge gain there. Can't catch slides as quickly on a wheel, so need to learn to drive without making big slides. It really is start again time, but it is sooo worth it. I've only been using a wheel 18 months now, and wish I'd done it sooner.

Take the plunge, you won't regret it.

I'm standing here at the Hohe Acht section not far from the Karussell.
They closed the Nordschleife over two hours ago, due to a crash I believe. It was the same yesterday evening as well. Somebody had crashed pretty bad at the Tiergarten straight and I saw recovery and repair vehicles working on the track. When I came back three hours later they were still working on it.

That will not be cheap for the driver that crashed, he will be held accountable for all repair cost and personnel time.

Not many people around now compared to at 5pm today. There were hundreds of parked cars here then just at this corner, with people watching the cars and bikes going around the 'schleife.

Browsing on the phone I also noticed just now that Zero Cup has recently broke the 100 member barrier. Good job.

Thanks for hosting. Stock MR LSD with CS tyres using DS3 had me sweating. Think that made the tyres even more slippery! :scared:

Probably needed more than 1 lap of testing at each track.

At least the other drivers provide good company and fair driving. With very sporting use of Gentleman's Yellow Flag in every race. 👍

A few months ago, after the servers were "fixed", a glitch occurred that doubled the amount of people in a club.

Sorry for not coming, the race I had before Zero Cup ended later than expected.

After being away from GT6 for quite awhile I was definitely a bit rusty. I'd also been practising on the NSX's standard SH tyres which didn't help either! So sorry for any bumps here and there.

As Ben say's it was a slippery car, especially as the tyres wore down. I thought I was in one of Tarn's snow races at times. :)

Good fun nonetheless. And good to "see" you again.

Best 3 races I've ever had.

Didn't expect to keep the lead at Laguna but to loose 1st on the last lap was my own fault.
AH I always find really hard work. But managed to claw back from last to 4th because everyone else had slidey moments esp at the hairpin and chicane. really good fight with nearly everyone on track. 👍

Ascari is marmite for me. Sometimes it's amazing. Rest of the time it's nasty!!
Didn't expect much but did find myself in 1st somehow. I actually found the NSX really easy to handle and drift round.
Not sure if the GYF was done right but I thought it would be nice to finish with some close racing.
Pressured again into a running wide mistake :boggled: and that pesky Sparks got past...well done.;)

Really good racing by everyone. Hard but fair. Excellent to see Paul back on track.
