Bashing? um, I like the car, I really do, especially the V6 RS model. I think your definition of bashing is rather unforgiving.

The V6 RS? Lol, you're hilarious.

Also, relax, Joey. I can't see how Leon's been bashing so hard as to get your pants in a knot over it. If anyone's been bashing, it's been me. And if anything's to be bashed in this latest incident, it's the dealer not chevy.

I'm not going to slow down his Chevy dealership rant. Two particular Chevrolet dealerships in my area have given my friends and I nothing but trouble every time we've had to deal with them. The worst was when my cousin owned his Cobalt SS. He had a few electronic issues with the stereo, and when he took it to the dealership they replaced the radio, but all the interior panels looked like a 5 year old put them together. Gaps and scratches all over the plastic. So he went back, and after trying to charge him for it they eventually replaced it for free. While he was going the rounds for the stereo we found a new dent on the front edge of his rear wheel arch. We had our suspicions, but we went asking around. One of our car buddies happens to work at that dealership and told us "Yeah, I know the guy that ran your car into the garage door." Wut? He took the car back, where all they did was buff the scratches on the dent, and badly at that.

Eventually my cousin took the Cobalt to a Buick dealership where he got the service he should have had the whole time. Problems solved, no questions asked, and a good job done.

I won't talk crap about GM's dealer network as a whole, but my bias against Chevy and their dealers is perfectly justified in my eyes. Cheap cars, cheap service. All dealerships have their moments and their stories, but it's just a little ridiculous at these local Chevy dealers.

It really does depend on the dealer, frankly. We stopped taking our trucks out to Kool Chevrolet because of how long the service always took. We've been taking our Chevrolets and GMCs to Berger (Chevy) because they get things done quickly, efficiently, and certainly because they don't screw things up. When you're a nationally-known dealer, you kinda have to.

Otherwise, we go to Good GMC. Mainly because family runs (well, ran) the parts department.

OK, so I picked up a copy of the Wheels mag today to see the 370Z vs the Clubby R8 (which ended up only being on the drag strip where the R8 belted the 370Z out of the park, w00t:D), and I find an interview with Holden CEO Mark Reuss (well less of an interview and more of an info extraction) in the front. It reveals some very key aspects to the Commodore's future:
- Facelift either late this year or early next, the computer generated interpretation depicts a front bumper almost indentical to the Coupe 60 ;) It's undecided yet if it will be called VE Series II or VF
- Engine and transmission upgrades in September this year (This involves a 5spd as standard in base models, direct injection V6s for SV6 and Calais w00t:D)
- Possible others, but not confirmed by Holden coming in over the next year or 2 are: E85 compatability, weight reduction, dedicated LPG system, and upgrades to emission systems to meet Euro IV standards.

He also mentioned that Holden is on the verge on turning profit again despite these hard times, and here's a couple direct quotes for ya:
"We're going to blow your mind in terms of fuel economy" (Good, I love having my mind blown by Holden w00t:D)
"We're going to spend a very long time making this the most compelling, the most mass-efficient architecture in the world for rear drive". (Good, Commodore sounds to still have a secure and RWD future.👍

There is a brand new black Camaro sitting about 2 blocks from my house but its just meh. I thought about test driving it but the new Camaro does not excite me at all. I wish they would have made the entire design off the 69 Camaro. The sides looking like a 67 Camaro was a huge mistake in the design process. They should have modeled the entire car after the 69, especially the sides which are what truly sets the 69 apart from the 67. I really dont like the black ones at all. Silver and yellow are nice but not black.

It sounds like the Camaro really is defined by color, which is odd. I'm still kinda mad they don't make it in white, but, whatever. So far the blue(s), the yellow and the gray look the best for me.

As of June 1st, You Can Order One of These:

  • Available as an LT (V6) or SS (V8)
  • Comes only in the yellow and black combo
  • Special Transformers badging inside and out

Neat-o... A pretty legitimate "special" model, also the reason why they aren't doing an Indy 500 pace car this year.

RE: The Commodore Changes

The DIG V6 was likely to happen given that it had been listed for the G8 next year. I'm surprised it took this long to get the five-speed gearboxes though. We've had those on the G8 since the start. Still, I continue to wonder what a set of low-resistance tires, a slightly modified exterior, a slight weight loss, and the DIG Turbocharged I4 would do for the car for fuel economy...

According to an article on autoblog you won't be able to buy the Indy pace car replicas.

I'm torn as to whether or not that was a good idea. The historical existence of the Indy Cars have been collectors items no matter the car. Problem is, a lot of people identify this Camaro solely as Bumblebee.

Dunno. I guess me being a Camaro lover, I'd have rather had a white/orange RS/SS Camaro with the Indy badges.

The 5yo inside of me desperately wants a Bumblebee Camaro badly.....The fact that there will be a gazillion of these things around when it comes out is kinda boo-urns though.

G8 only had the 195kw V6 though, which we've always had a 5spd for as well. That 195kw is the one being replaced with the DIG V6, but there is in fact a model below all these, which will now finally get the 5spd as standard.

Is that a Z/28? IS IT? I Think it IS!

From Camaro5...

While its no actual confirmation that the Z/28 actually exists within GM's test vehicle portfolio, it looks like they have at least laid out some plans for one (note the convertible as well). We're still a long way from getting it, I imagine.

Very nice, how much? I don't see the point in a mid-ground between V6 and SS, what would a Z/28 be? Higher performance? The bonnet and bumper suggest more aggressive performance.

As Patsy, the lackey to King Arthur in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" once said...

"It's only a model."

Do we have any idea how old these pics are? Is there a chance that these were taken before the economy went belly-up?

I think this would be a sweet car to be seeing around. Maybe powered by an LS-7?

I think the existence of the Z/28 in general is still in question - My guess is that the car is still on the table, but not a prime objective at the moment. Of the whole Camaro line, attention will likely go to 2011 updates, then the Convertible, which should be out by model year 2012. If they are doing it, it sounds as though it will become the top-teir Camaro, powered by either the LS7 or the LSA. My guess is that they will skip the LSA in favor of the LS7, as they do not want the Camaro to step on the CTS-V's toes too easily. That, and it would be far cheaper, and likely more fuel efficient to run an LS7.

Early rumors said LS9, but most likely it'll be the LSA. They probably aren't worried about stepping on the CTS-V's toes as they aren't competitors. Also the LS9 would be better to go up against Ford's GT500.

I'm pretty sure the idea has been cancelled and that is an old photo. Just look at the 2008 hairstyles.

I'm pretty sure that GM has to worry about the Camaro stepping on the Corvette's toes, not the CTS. I'm actually kind of curious as to how a 2 door coupe sports car would be cross-shopped with a four door luxury saloon.

As for the GT500, the Corvette already has that car covered. The LS7 would put it closer to the GT500 range anyway. Actually, the LSA would probably be the closest to the GT500 in terms of output. There is no need for an LS9 in this car. It would also compete too much with the ZR-1, something GM definitely doesn't need.

It will never compete with the ZR1. Even if it had a LS9, the ZR1 still has features about it that make it a competitor to higher up cars. With a Corvette in the name, people will cross shop it with a Ferrari. With Camaro, I doubt it, even if it did perform around the same level. With a LS9, GM would probably de-tune the hell out of it just to keep it from running Z06's.

GM knows if people want a car from them to run near the ZR1 without paying $100,000, the Z06 & Corvette are always there to be modified for less.

Thats the thing though. Knowing that GM is still hip on the whole "history" thing, it would make more sense to use the LS7. But, with GMPD having been closed, I have no idea if they'd even consider doing a Z/28, especially one with the LSA/LS9.

Well Hennessey did manage to swap in the LS9 into the new Camaro, so If you really wanted the Z/28 to exist you could just buy the HPE700!

It was only a matter of minutes, is GM offering LS9 crate motors now? and whats with odd alignment gaps of the nose cone and the fenders?
