the funny thing we get the GTO as a Lumina SS coupe lol , and the UK its Vuxhall so will those 2 models change ?

If they badge-engineer the Holden Monaro and Pontiac GTO, then the Vauxhall Monaro should also look same as the two because currently it's a copy of Holden Monaro and Pontiac GTO. Don't know about the Lumina SS though.

More news today on the VE comming to the US:

Denny Mooney, chairman of GM's Australian subsidiary Holden, is adamant that the 2007 VE Commodore SS and SS V sedans should come to the United States as the next Pontiac Grand Prix. Mooney made comments about the idea in July, and has again reiterated them in the latest issue of GoAuto e-news. "So the reality is that if this car went over there it would do well, he said. "A rear-wheel drive, performance sedan at an affordable price? It doesn't exist in the US." He admitted the closest product currently on the market is the Chrysler 300C or the Dodge Charger. Mooney says that unlike the failed Pontiac GTO — which was targeting a niche segment with certain expectations — the sedan market is both larger and easier to target. He said demand for such a sedan is "20 times bigger than the coupe market."

Cool, but it only backs up what we allready know. I'm excited to see what will happen, but all should (hopefully) be known in January/Febuary 2007.

Photos have leaked online of the new Holden VE-based HSV E-Series. Images of the high-performance originated on popular Holden chat forum ls1.com.au by member 'Covert.' The car is based heavily on the 2007 VE Commodore, which incidentally, may come to the United States as the next Pontiac Grand Prix. Output of the HSV model is expected somewhere around the 415 horsepower mark. Like the regular VE, the HSV is based on GM's new Zeta platform, which will underpin the 2009 Camaro, among other vehicles.

Cool, looks nice, can't wait till it comes here!

Hmm...lose the rice-tastic spoiler, slap a Pontiac logo between the two nostrils of the grille, price it reasonably and GM just might have a home run.

That looks surprisingly similar to the Falcon... Give it a lip spoiler, more Pontiacky grille, and clean up the front fascia a little bit, and they WILL have a home run.

Hmm, I don't find that rice....its a RWD car and the spoiler will help create downforce - which doesn't mean its rice.

Rice: unnecessary/pointless modifications to the car.

My guess is, lower the spoiler down by about an inch or so, stick the arrowhead in the grille, and you've got yourself a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP.

The best part? V8 and a stick!

I want to have this car's babies. :embarrassed: I do hope this come here...I'd even accept the stupid Pontiac kindey grill molestation just to get it here.

Meh I don't really like it that much, looks odd and too heavy, those large wheels look too small now on that.

Yeah, thats what I was just thinking a few minutes ago. Its very similar to the current Evolution prototype.

Looks stunning, and I'd give the newly designed grille a go, it may turn out to be a winner soon enough.

General Motors will announce on Monday that it will produce the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro at its assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, according to Canada's the Globe and Mail. GM is also expected to announce details of how it will revamp the Oshawa facility to produce up to 500,000 rear-wheel-drive Zeta platform vehicles per year, the newspaper's sources said. General Motors is widely expected to built a new Chevy Impala and Monte Carlo on the platform, as well as a new Buick sedan and Cadillac DTS. GM's Bob Lutz has also said there are plans for a new GTO on the Zeta platform, but that vehicle could be built in Australia alongside a possible rear-wheel-drive Pontiac Grand Prix. We'll keep you posted Monday as this story develops.

...Odd, as I've herd the Camaro and Impala were to be built in Deleware...

Not that I mind that Canadians are building our cars, its better than Mexico, but I'd rather have these American icons assembeled here.

Otherwise, YAY DETAILS!

Hmm, Oshawa plant...

Don't they already operate at full capacity?

But its good to hear the cars are going to be built at a plant which received "Best in Initial Quality" award.

It's no secret General Motors is planning a new Pontiac GTO based on he forthcoming 2009 Chevrolet Camaro. But the GTO isn't the only Zeta-platform-based car in the pipeline for Pontiac, according to the Chicago Tribune. Columnist Jim Mateja says Pontiac's rear-wheel-drive sedan will use the "G8" moniker and arrive as a "companion to the next-generation GTO." Recently, there have been rumors that the 2007 VE Commodore (pictured) may be directly imported to America as a Pontiac, but the Tribune report seems to suggest the G8 may get different styling to match the new GTO. Also noteworthy is the nomenclature — will the vehicle continue the Grand Prix lineage, or use the G8 moniker in the footsteps of the alphanumeric G6? With any luck, we'll find out in the not-too-distant future…

...Let us pray they send us the HSV GTS as the G8 GXP!

And what of the Camaro and other American Zeta models?

LLN.com
Following rumors over the weekend, General Motors today announced that it will use its Oshawa, Ontario car plant to manufacture the new 2009 Chevrolet Camaro at the end of 2008. GM will immediately undertake a $662 million overhaul of the plant in preparation for production, the company said. The investment will transform the plant into a "state of the art flexible manufacturing facility." Oshawa has twin plants, one of which was scheduled to close in 2008 after GM announced major cost-cutting measures in late 2005. However, some media reports today are suggesting both plants will stay open, while others are indicating jobs will only be saved at one of the plants. Reports this weekend also indicated the Oshawa plant(s) would be used to build other new Zeta-platform cars, with output as high as 500,000 units per year. GM made no mention of these details in its official announcement. Stay Tuned.

I guess its okay they are building them in Canada...

As stated on the website, the HSV GTS when released will use the same 307kw engine as in all VE HSV models. Though there is talk of next years GTS model ( i would presume VE series 2) which will use the LS7 or even the new LS9 powerplant. Whether it is badged at the GTS or GTS\R, it will be one wild sedan. One would presume that the car would be priced around the A$100,000 (australian)

So ls2_297 are you going to have to get premium GTP account and change your name to ls2_307?

Hey, you make it seem like a not-so-good thing. Now, granted, I will be slightly biased here because I AM Canadian, but I think it's a great thing that the cars will be built in Canada. The Oshawa plant has been producing some of the highest-quality (Fewest mistakes/defects) cars in NA for a couple years now.

Actually I complimented Canada. Mexico's products are notorious for being crap.
