I can honestly say that I can see why this car can cause an argument on why it is so good. The reason why, I saw it in real life twice. All last week, I was out in Calforina for my graduation trip. On of the main things tht my and my dad di was that we went to see the Rolex Historic Car Cup at Laguna Seca out there. Well, we fly in friday and around six o'clock, we find the track and drive around the outside of it. We're just getting ready to leave and go find our hotel and settle down for the night, when I see a car driving in off in the distance. At frist I'm thinking that it's just a Lambo or something. As it gets closer, I start to realize that it's not a Lambo. As it goes past us, I then realize that it's a Veyron :drool: . At this point, my heart stops and I'm about to crap, my dad gets the hint and goes to look for it. But, it's gone and stupidly, I froget to take a picture :ouch:.

So saturday goes by and the only thing that pulls in is an enzo. But that all changes on sunday. As we're walking toward the bathroom, my dad says "Hey, there's that car." I turn around and to my surprise, it's right behind me. This time, I grab my camera and start taking pictures. I even have one of me crouching next to the car.

All I can say about this car is that it's a hellva a lot cooler that anything else that I've seen on the road. I'll upload the pictures later once I upload the software to my main computer.

I cant wait to see those pics. Your very lucky. I think the car is getting the negative feedback because the average person will think its by far the best car in the world with 1001hp but dont know that it weighs quite a bit. So all the people that know loads about the veyron get annoyed when people go on about it as being the best thing like sliced bread. People always knock whats top dog.

I think the majority of negative feedback is based on the cars develoment. I think it will be a good car, but I'm not exited by it, I used to be, TWO YEARS ago. People don't really care about it anymore and I think thats where the problem lies. As for your comment about people that know about the Veyron getting annoyed when peple thnik it's the best thing since sliced bread. I don't think thas true at all. Mainly because people don't go on about the Veyron like it's the best thing since sliced bread, and also because people that know about it, also know that the cars weight will not be a deciding factor in how well the car corners. They will also know that the car will not be like an Enzo round corners because it's not meant to be. They will know that it WAS like a race car round corners, and they took it back and re-did the handling because thats not what they want from the car. It's a luxury super GT, not srace car for the road. The handling will still be good, up there with the better cars, but behind the Enzo's and MC12's of this world.

I still prefur the McLaren F1, that's engineering genius and is still awesome for it's age. IMO the Bugatti just uses brute force to get to that speed. It's nearly 2 tons FFS, it's like they didn't bother with weight at all, and McLaren did.

It's under 2 tonnes anyway, it's closer to 1800Kg's, with the extra luxuries stripped out it would be around 1400Kg's which isn't heavy. It's not a light car because it's not meant to be, it's a luxury car, thats it's purpose, that isn't a design fault.

I agree with you James.

The Mclaren F1 had a NA V12. Okay not a 'normal' engine by any means, but more down to earth than a W16 Quad Turbo.

Hopefully the Veyron won't turn into another SLR, a 'pimping' supercar.

Here it says it's almost 1900kgs, and the SLR is 150kgs lighter, and they're both luxury supercars, so Bugatti could still have put in more effort for weight loss right?

Mind you, a huge engine and 4 turbo would add weight too.

It's too expensive for that, it'll remain a love it/hate it car but I don't see it being anything like the SLR in terms of response.

The SLR isn't nearly as luxurious as the Veyron, the Veyron has diamonds in the dash and all sorts, like I said, the weight isn't a design flaw. The closest to an official weight thats been given out by VAG is 1850kg's.

Veyron = overated
and hell it doesnt even look all that good, I can think of much nicer cars or supercars that i would much rather have. McLaren F1 and Pagani Zonda spring to mind.

If your after a Zonda or MC12you won't consider the Veyron, different markets my friend, one market is for people after the closest you can get to a race car on the road the other is after luxury that can travel fast, only the Veyron is a very extreme manifestation of this.

The Zonda is luxurious AND devastatingly quick. Buyers of the Zonda will probably have an interest in the Veyron too

The Zonda is built with quality materials, but they are still stripped and don't actually feature much in the way of luxuries, they are designed for class as well as supercar performance, I wouldn't say they are luxurious. However, you may be right about Zonda buyers.

Does anyone think that Snagglepuss closesly resembled the Pink Panther?

Apart from the diamond, what luxury features does the Veyron have that the Zonda doesn't?

Heated leather seats, a superb sound system and a few other things.

That's what I was thinking. The SLR is 150kgs lighter than the Veyron, and that's pretty luxurious already, there can't be 150kgs of diamonds right? Unless there is alot more padding and stuff.

The Zonda has leather and nabuk seats (ok, so they're not heated, but they're still luxurious) and a Becker sound system. What are the few other things? You're not convincing me that the Zondas are "stripped and don't actually feature much in the way of luxuries"

This = A lot

This = Less

Thats without the Turbo's, the Zonda doesn't havemuch padding, sound proofing ect, it doesn't have half the electronics of the Veyron either, which weigh a bit, the automatic wing and mechanism together will weigh more than you might think. It all adds up.

That was the Veyron engine vs SLR engine.

What are the rest of the luxury features the Veyron has that the Zonda doesn't?

The Veyron also has a heavy 4WD system doesn't it? - everyone seems to forget that.

Driftster
well the SLR is ugly..and small..
The buggati is biiig....and ugly

The SLR is actually a big car, i can't find dimentions for either car, but i bet they are similar - the Veyron just looks lardier.
