I'm still working on my times, but i'm having problems getting a clean lap.
On smaller track I find out how go as fast as I can in each corner and than
go for a clean lap, but this track is so long it's hard to do that.
But I will keep working on it:).

*updated*
T2:1'05.864
T6:3'07.220
T9:4'43.859

My third clean lap, cutting about 5 seconds here and there. I guess this the race where i will learn a lil' about the ring 👍

New splits. I'm housesitting my parents place and so I'm using their PS2 and their controller is much more sensitive than mine for some reason but I'm getting used to it:

T2: 1`04.962
T6: 3`03.994
T9: 4`38.946

But I went a bit cautious on the finish and probably lost a second there. I still reckon I could find another couple of seconds, so come on Brad......get the lead out buddy :sly: 👍

I'm coming. I've just got to finish my media design plan. Which was due on the 18th of june, then the day after the holidays (3rd), then the 7th, then today. Then by 9am tomorrow....

I wonder how much more I can stretch this out....

Kent
You know, people always feel bad when they see the "aliens" put down times.

I feel quite the opposite.
People putting down time like that are the best. Those of us who are "normal" shouldn't feel bad for not matching those times. Rather, we should recognize the FACT that even D3 drivers are amongst the fastest GT players in the world.

I know it is hard to imagine that there are still normal people who barely scrap by on GT, crashing walls and banging AI constantly, but there are people like that.

Being able to just hang with the gang in the WRS is a feat of its own and I suggest we all give our selves a bit more credit when looking at what is and not just what is possible.

Running with the WRS or any other click of OLRacers puts you on a level beyond that of the "true normal" player and instantly places you amongst the best there is in the world.

Remember, regardless of where you finish in the WRS, you will certainly always be faster than the average GT player in the real world.

(none the less, the "aliens" always manage to achieve what I hope for and never manage)

Excellent post, Kent. "tick"

I totally spaced out last week, and didn't submit my time -- didn't realize the deadline had gone past for several hours, so I wasn't even close. Wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway -- Bronze in D2 for me. ;)

So I'll give this week's a go -- got to earn some money to buy the Vette C5R, but a few minutes of B-spec and that shouldn't be a problem. (Blew most of my wad on the Mazda 787B a couple of weeks back.)

I'll post some times shortly...

Dually noted Laurence.
This will be my 5th week in the WRS, and I know by racing against the AI that I am already a better, smoother, more adept driver. It's just something you have to have patience for and realize you're not going to hop in and whip the competition. As Kent says, these are some of the fastest racers in the world, and when I see that my T-times are anywhere close, it's a pretty good feeling. I'm a Div2 racer, and I like to see the Div1 racers post their Ttimes to give me something to shoot for...missing a LOT, but it's a goal.

ps, these racecars are getting expensive, looks like it's time to earn some $$$ myself, if i can pull away from TT and GT4 for a while.

New splits from me after another few laps.

T2 1'06.512:)
T6 3'08.715:)
T9 4'48.454:)

Not brill compaired to the D1 guys, but a 2.5 sec improvement @T6, nearly 3 @T9 and 4 at the finishline is still improvement! 👍

Over to you Darren!

Neil

Yeah thanks for that Neil.

Still not had more than twenty minutes in one go on this one yet so I'm still struggling to get clean laps.

Should be able to give it a decent run tonight though, it's raining here so the BMX can stay in the garage for tonight. :grumpy:

TT has ruined any chance I had of improving my driving though. It takes a while to adjust your lines back from two wheeled driving. :scared:

super t you ride? How many other people here ride because I am willing to bet it is only a couple. Must be hard to ride in englands weather but the guys in voices did a damn good job.

In other news... I have improved my final time by about .6 so that time keeps coming down. I dont know if anyone else noticed this but I routinely run laps that in the beginning of the week would have been fast but now they are slow and generally dirty. SOmetimes I will spin and crash like twice and still get those times. When I think about that and just be only a little aggressive and try to keep a really good line I go much faster. The track is so long that if you go a little faster on each turn you will end up much faster on the total. Its kind of common sense but it is really helping my times.
Later on

Yep, Not as often as I'd like lately though, (too many other commitments and/or injuries). The weather doesn't really affect me and the other guys I ride with, I've ridden my local park with ice on the ramps before?!? If it's that bad there's a couple of decent indoor parks within an hours drive of my house (depending on how fast we drive :sly: ). I ride HERE (yes, it is in an old church) a couple of nights a month, I know the guy that runs the place, he hands me the keys and we ride all night in exchange for helping him out with ramp building/maintenance. 👍

Back to the WRS.

:D :) :( :ouch:  🤬

My mood over the past hour.

Can't even keep up with my own ghost at the moment? I will not sleep tonight if I have to!! I keep making stupid errors (normally on the straight'ish bits :irked: ) and spinning out.

I thought I'd have a quick break and get straight back on it so here goes.

*takes deep breath and tells himself that the car will not behave any better no matter how much he swears at it!*

How do the 'Power-Puff girls' sound Darren?

'Thwack!

Neil

ps!

Use the Schwartz!

No kidding. Play TT for a couple hours, get back to GT and the lines and braking points are all #%@ed up. But we persevere.

Hello everyone.

For some odd reason I had the urge to play some GT4 today. It's odd due to the fact that I probably haven't played the game in who knows how long. Looking at my last saved replay for an actual competition, it's almost been exactly a year to date. :scared: So yeah, I'm a little rusty. :indiff:
And I picked one hell of a race to try. I hate the "Ring" and I've maybe logged about 10 laps on it total. But it's a course that I'd like to learn. The Vette, I have no idea why I like this understeering pig, but I do have a place in my heart for it.

After a couple of frustrated hours of racing:

T2: 1.07.280
T6: 3.11.456
T9: 4.51.030

I'm having some real difficulty on the back half of the course. Rarely do I get to see it as I always start over if I go off track. :grumpy:

Flat-Out, I know that I used to be Div 1, but it's been so long so feel free to place me in any division that you see fit.

time submitted to flat outs pm box. one of the best nurb combos i have driven, the tires suited the corvettes dynamocs perfectly, and softer and it would have been boring, and harder and it would have been frustrating, and the power was quite well thought out, too much power ruins the fun a bit. so in concluding, top notch combo, although next nurb combo i wouldnt mind driving amuse s2000 R4 on n3 tires, that would be a blast

Well boombexus, I did a search in the leaderboard and your last entry (week 8 if you were interested :sly:) had you at D2 using a DS2 and your name in the qualifier race thread is in D2 so I've left it at that. If it turns out you're D1, I'll change it for ya 👍

Board Updated

I need to work on this, I have been suck into Oblivion and I can't get out:scared:.
I have about 75+ hours into it and it just keeps going.

Thanks for the search MisterWeary. 👍 I don't even remember week 8 so I'll have to go look it up. :dopey: If I was D2 then, I'm probably D3 material now.
I used to be D1, but that was way back in the day when I started this whole thing.
Anyone remember this race?

The first WRS ever!!! :)

Seems ages ago. Over 3 years in fact.

Well that was a while ago, I had a look at the results thread of that week and there's barely a name I'd recognise :)

Meanwhile, I have new splits...if only I could put together all my best sectors, there'd be another 5 seconds out there probably:

T3: 1`05.820
T6: 3`05.017
T9: 4`39.056

Some spectacular two wheel action on this lap too :sly: 👍

G'day Boom! 👍
Nice to see you pop in! 👍
Have fun mate.

It's amazing what the Ring can drag back in here. :sly: Does this mean we'll have a few old timers (sorry ) back for this challenge?

Well just over two hours of running last night produced two (:irked:) clean laps! Checked my original replay properly only to discover a slight contact with the pit wall right before I braked for the first turn. Stupid error which I will not repeat again. :banghead:

Also ashamed to admit that I've had to put TCS back for this week, not used that since the 8 lap race with the BMW Mclaren at La Sarthe.

[Rant]I'm gonna :censored:ing get really 🤬 if I can't 🤬 improve my :censored:ing driving before the end of this :censored:ing week.[/Rant over] Sorry. :)

@Colby. My stupid pit wall incident now means my fastest T9 is 4'58. I'll get you some proper splits up in a couple of hours. 👍

Darren.

*types power puff girls into google and cringes.* Oh please no.

why turn the TCS on this week?
the car only spins its tires if you get over-eager in or two spots on the whole track. and all you have to do to cure it is shift into 3rd.
the TCS will however add alot of understeer to a car that already has a tendency to understeer.
its probably a bad move to use it.

So THATS what im doing wrong...Even though TCS is a life saver sometimes, I think im going to turn it off and see what happens

I remember all those guys (and gal)... good times there, my first OLR event.:dopey: Anyway hope you guys driving WRS this week have fun. I'm not going to participate and open that giant can of worms. Back to obscurity for me.👍

A slight improvement, after several hours. About .300 off the lap time.

T2: 1'05.440
T6: 3'06.794
T9: 4'43.467

after starting up in dan's 2.3 i decided not to give wrs 64 a serious go this week. the 'ring may be great - it probably is - but if you haven't practiced a lot over there you're either very slow or flying out of corners all the time.
so i might give it a try but for now i'm spending my gt4 time with dan and dunda.

decided to upload a replay if anyone is interested:tup:

Oblivion!! Love it!! :)

On topic -- I just don't see how y'all are getting the 1'06 (and FASTER) that you're getting on T2... Best I've seen is 1'09.074, and I screwed up that lap shortly thereafter... Arrgh...

And the best T9 I've seen is around 4'52... The 4'30s seem just about impossible right now...

I've tried pretty much every gear setting from 340 to 380 -- I'm running the DFP, so wheelspin really doesn't seem to be too much of a problem with me, so I've pretty much decided that 340 or 350 is the way to go for me personally...

I'll keep plugging away at it -- eventually I'll get something that's worth submitting, I hope! :sly: Great combo this week! I'm loving every minute of it, despite the fact that I suck! (Why, again, did I get promoted out of Div. 3? :D)
