Fastest You've Ever Gone in Your Car?

While I haven't driven over 90 in many years, I used to explore the outer limits of speed in my old T-bird, and my Father's Country Squire.
The bird ran out of speedo at 120, but the needle started dancing off the peg well below that.
The Country Squire (yes it was a big dowdy wagon), I've driven it well over 100 often.
It would do right about 106 in second gear. Yes it was a three speed, and that was shifting up from a "kick-down" to second.
Yes, it won me quite a bit of money. How many people will believe a wood paneled wagon will do over 100 in second. (Helps to have a 429SCJ under the hood).
It's rear end was geared so numerically low that I never did have the cojones to find out what the top end was.

On an infrequently traveled stretch of highway late late at night with a good six or eight miles of flat straight road, I hit an indeterminate bit above 140mph in the SVX - I was a bit more concentrated on what was ahead of me than the speedo at that point I'd guess 143, 144.

It was no surprise that the lefthand valve cover gasket "mysteriously" began leaking the next day. Also no surprise that after '92 (my model year, and "year one" for the car in the US) they were electronically governed to 142 or something in that neighborhood.

Irresponsible? Quite. Fun? Quite. Would I do it again? Erm, no.

They feel good up at that speed though. Think I posted way back how I got up to 135 mph before the less than ideal road surface got me concerned. Was also in a '92. How is the transmission holding up in yours?

Hit 125 mph in the Outback XT 2.5 turbo before I decided to back off the gas. Got up there nice and quick as well.

on a nearly empty bit of I-70 i hit 115 in my subie....then i ran out of power and hit an uphill...haha...nice thing about AWD is you loose something like 40% of your power to the AWD system its self...

155 in 350z with 300hp, on the way to Le Mans 24 hours

and finally my mate took me 182 in his lambo Gallardo Spyder which was possibly the scariest experience ever LOL, was skipping around everywhere !

ive also got an R1 powered Kit car which does 0-60 in 3.6 secs. but tht only reaches 120mph tops lol, which is bout as fast as i would like to go in scaffolding and balsa wood lol

95 in my first car (86 civic.) floored downhill for quite some time.

85 in my current (97 escort.)

Well, I suppose i have beat my record of 95 by 30mph. It appears 350z's do not struggle as much above 95 as beaten down 1.5l's do to get there. It was quite a reckless maneuver on my part; (I guess most of these stories are, fairly, reckless) a narrow two lane highway, (one direction) and some soft corners going into downtown Tacoma. I probably could have gone much faster. I dropped to 5th going 80 and shifted to 6th around 110 (didn't look at the tac to see revs, but in GT 5th will get you to about 140, right?

A whopping 95 mph ish in my Fiesta. It was showing around 103ish on the clock so I assume 95 is probably accurate.

Done over 100 on a circuit in a Mini Cooper though. Before I had to brake. Hard.

Fastest I've gone in my Hyundai... like 60. It cranks up to 75, and then it just stops. :lol:

You might hit 80 on a decline if you're lucky. I think it's because the OEM tires were only rated for 80mph.

My cousin had my uncles new grand prix up to 115 (limiter), along with his own older grand prix up to the same because of the limiter.

My other cousin, however, has had his Saab up to 140 and he said it still had more. Can't wait to here what he does next

As for myself, only about 30 in my Barracuda and 50 in the Windstar :lol:

155mph with an BMW E46 M3 SMG on the Autobahn. (From my boss)
(I had to brake or it would be some more mph)
112mph with my old Mitsubishi Colt(2002) on the Autobahn.
Well and with my current BMW E46 325i I didn´t went over 112 mph yet. But it is rated with 240km/h that would be 149mph.

About 95 - 100 mph with my Mitsubishi Colt through the "Fuchsröhre"(Nordschleife of the Nürburgring). That was pretty scary :sly:

Hit the 115mph governor in a Charger with a 3.5L high output V6 on Talladega Superspeedway.

Got to ride in a Charger SRT8 around Darlington Speedway and we got up to 145mph.

110MPH when my dad had an '03 Mustang, the really cheap one.

My dad's friend went 157MPH in his 5.0 V10 M5. That was in Puerto Rico, it would be ridiculous to go any faster than that over there, the roads are REALLY bumpy.

the fastest ive gone in my car is about 170mph.

2006 350z with a lot of mods. have different ECU so i could of gone a little faster than that but i really didnt have the need to go faster. in 5th gear i hit about 145 to 150 mph and then 6th gear i made it to about 170 maybe a little shorter thatn that but it was close.

my friend was actually blamed for this but he wasnt driving, i dont want to put names out because of legal issues but 200+ MPH is really not hard to get to.

And regarding proof for me going 170 which really isnt anything to be honest, i dont have any videos, plus i dont street race or do anything like that anymore since i got a exhibition of speed and street racing citation which i am currently still in probabation, if i get caught doing anything street racing related or just being near the scene i will go to jail. here is a pic of my car.
