The really really really COOL thing is now whenever i do a race at Nurburgring, things seem much easier. I know the damn course so well now, i rarely screw up. đź‘Ť

PD you truly lick dingle berries for putting that stupid 126 second wait in the game. What entertainment or gaming value is there in it? Realism is only beneficial to a game if it adds something positive to the experience. What is the point of having us all sit and wait for a stupid clock to count down. I'm a huge fan of the GT series but this tops the cake for all time stupid things to put in a game. I love the challenge of a hard race but I refuse to waist my time waiting for that blasted time to count down. I've completed all missions except this one and i'm taking a stand in protest to this atrocity. I will never race this race ever again.

Patience and discipline are personal virtues that assist anyone who would attempt to master a game, win a race, or even deal successfully with life in general.

Stick with the wait, and you will be rewarded.

You will race this event again and again! At least 100 times until you get it right.

1. Do something else while waiting for the countdown
2. Find a video of a NTSC player completing the mission and take notes.

:)

Not to brag, but I passed it first time out, just today... mainly because I just did not want to endure that wait again!

The key is smooth driving, not aggressive driving. If you drive aggressively, as said above, you will regret it. You'll drift to the outside of corners far too early, drift off the track, and look dead sloppy.

My advice is, find the ideal line around the circuit. Take a couple of practice sessions, get to know the track by heart, or at least familiarize yourself with some sections. Find the best line through the corner, and darn well stick to it, to matter what.

Smooth steering, smooth acceleration, smooth smooth smooth. The Stig, a hero of mine, champions a track driving theory of "slower to go faster", and I can not tell you enough - it pays off. Think of driving a beautiful, flowing, smooth line.

Just some advice :)

Remember... It must have been said a hundred times already in this thread, but the PAL version mission 34 really is easy. It's not even the hardest mission. Not that NTSC is ridiculous if you're good, but it's by far the hardest thing in the game. Nevertheless, it can be won without any AI contact, shortcutting, or wallriding (as I did).

Still, although your advice is well-known, it's a good reminder, and eloquently said.

I wouldn't know, since I have the NTSC version, but missions 11 and 26 are commonly cited as being the hardest. The biggest problem in PAL on mission 34 is learning how to drive the car, and once you've got that figured out, it becomes relatively simple; there are all sorts of posts saying something like "This mission wasn't really that bad. I beat it on only my third try, and I even got two five-second penalties." The car in 26 seems to not handle as well in PAL as NTSC, and because of that, you catch all the slow cars a bit later, and thus in really inconvenient places (e.g. 130R). 11 seems to have a faster lead AI driver, which means you have to be very exact in your braking points and lines and whatnot.

i think this mission is prolly the easiest. that is, if u take lots of time to practice on it. i bought an SLR, switch to normal tyres, and did tonnes and tonnes of practice.

my 2nd last run, which i nearly nailed it, and i just took the corner after the long straight a bit too fast, and i slammed into the SL55 i think.

took me another 3-4 tries to actually nail it.

After postponing the completion of this mission I have started to practice for it. First run - 7.28.243 in practice mode. :scared: Looks like I get to shave off 26ish seconds. There were some grass moments, and some too slow moments, and some too fast moments, so well see what happens once I smooth those areas out.

If anyone is interested in seeing yet another video of this mission (NTSC), I have one on Youtube now. I do think this run is better than many, just because it's OLR-clean, but it's certainly not the best out there. Certainly not in terms of video quality! Don't bother turning up the volume to try to hear it; there's no sound to be heard that's worth listening to.

Damn, man! Wouldn't it be nice if you had not to wait two minutes? I know everyone complains about it, but to actually see it is so good! :embarrassed:
If I knew exactly the setup used for the SLR in the mission, I would practice non-stop. The problem is, I don't. :ouch:

OK just finished the 4hr enduro with the SLR. Gotta love about 300000 just for practicing :) B-speced about 2 hours so I could read this thread, but I got a 7'11 lap, on med tires so Ill try it and see what happens.

Edit 1st attempt: Had some bad offs, 2 penalties, +12.793. Definitely not the car I just raced with. Its quicker to push, and requires better throttle modulation in little traction situations. I didnt even pass a car until halfway down the back straight!

2nd Attempt: Abort! Abort!

3rd Attempt: Penalty within the first 30 seconds, bedtime

You have to nail a perfect lap to win this one, took me a while because I never used to have a wheel.

Not really, However it depends on the version you are playing.

Me, on Pal, was as rough as anything 10% of the lap was with two wheels of the road, also got a 5 second penalty. still able to win by .5 seconds.

So I decided to tackle Mission 34 once again this time in NTSC. I had done when I lived over seas on PAL and swore I'd never do it again.

3 days into my self torture sessions I had a super fast and clean lap going. No offs but did mess up sector 9 a little. Get all the way to the final S's the last car exiting them as I'm just entering. Thought yep got him finally. Cross the finish line and thought I beat him only to see I missed by 0.002 !

🤬 . I get to the results screen only to see the game cheated. I run a 9:12.697 and of course the game runs 9:12.695 WTF. He's been in the 9:13.xxx every result and even on Austin's vid shows it in the 9:13's

God help those who designed this into if I ever run across them, which I know I won't as I've never been to Japan.

BTW hadn't I messed up that sector I'd of run a clean 9:11.xxx easy as at sector 7 check point I was a full 2 seconds up on Austin's video.

If you're two seconds up, you're doing really well! But you obviously really messed up T9, because I obviously had a lot of time to spare as I came in 0.7 seconds ahead (and yes, I know the 300SL finished in the 9'13s, but still) despite probably losing 1-2 seconds caught behind it. You deserve to have won this mission by now, as it's only bad luck that made the 300SL finish so fast in that run. 0.002 is always infuriating, anyway.

BOOHYA !

I finally fricking beat this damn mission once again and for the final time. I'm not proud of breaking 7 DSC's however but it's done. Not sure I'm going to finish off the last few hard dirt races as honestly I detest them. Not a dirt racing fan.

Nice job! I see you got a race where the 300SL finished in the mid 9'13s, which certainly helps. Was it completely clean, or did you only have incidental contacts and offs, or did you result to grasscutting and wallriding? I suspect the second, but if it was the first, then that's especially deserving of a đź‘Ť.

Congrats on 34.

Well since you have the big bad 34th mission out of the way, why not take on the dirt tracks, they are actually quite easy.

I did over shoot the S's I believe in sector 3, shot across the road and kind of gently bounced off the wall a bit. It actually slowed me to 1'33.304 at that point so really didn't gain anything as I had been as low as 1'31.98x before, and an off with wall bump on the last karosole. Other than that it was clean with only 2 wheels off here and there. No wall riding, actually never learned how properly.

Here are my sector times:

S1 +1'48.882
S2 +1'40.864
S3 +1'33.304
S4 +1'18.254
S5 +1'05.794
S6 +54.414
S7 +39.132
S8 +30.480
S9 +24.437
S10 +13.529
S11 +5.142
finish - .879

Honestly because I really suck at rally. I struggle big time just to do the easy and regular ones.

Oh Austin what's interesting is I found a certain line and brake points with varied pressure on the brakes to be quicker than you in only a couple of sectors but similar or slower in other sectors.

You'll notice by the times as I got closer to the last few I started not to push so hard and did lose a fair bit of time based on yours. Remember you got held up on the final S's and last corner when I didn't and got a huge run though them and hit the last corner perfect carrying max speed without actually touching the grass.
:)

I don't own a video camera or anyway to capture the video on my pc but I do have a video option on my digital camera. I'll capture about the last min if I can. Don't have a huge memory stick for it so not sure on the length of time it will capture. It probably won't be the greatest quality but we'll see and I'll make sure it has sound. I'll post it here. The second to last sector wasn't very good :(

I think the mission would be pretty easy to pass, if I could be bothered to practice that is.. I've tried it about 3 times in a month, I will practice soon and attempt it again.

I don't go off the track, it's just that I don't push hard enough , coz I don't know the track that well with that car (the car is unpredictable). The best I managed was on the 3rd attempt, I got a +3 sec something :ouch:, after that I was pissed off and haven't been back yet..

I got it! And now I've done all missions. Only some Formula races left.
I have a replay of this mission, could someone tell how could i get it to my computer?
