EDK has posted the following as this months event changes:

London - 550PP/FWD
Fuji F - 550PP/RWD
Daytona Road - 600PP/AWD
HSR - 700PP
Suzuka - 800PP World Event

I'll start work on a new schedule tonight... after I've posted an updated set of tables for this week. Right now, looking at those events (...and without testing) I'm thinking:

1. Fuji F - 550PP/RWD : Evora
2. Suzuka - 800PP : GT LM (...coz I promised Rob) ;)
3. HSR - 700PP : M3
4. Suzuka - 800PP : R8
5. Fuji F - 550PP/RWD : maybe 512BB

It's a fantastic car, trust me :sly:

Looks like a good lineup of events, great work sorting out a schedule Stone, look forward to Monday night 👍

No its not, horrible gearing, not enough power, should be NSX fast but isn't, and sounds like a vacuum cleaner all while looking like a stretch limo elise.

Thanks Crazyhorse - quick off the mark as usual.
I'll go with the flow - but i'm telling ya the GTLM@800PP ain't going to be pretty! Hell anything at 800PP is going to be a handful....fantastic!

Chris I really appreciate you putting the events together for us. Takes time and thought AND you sometimes cop complaints from us, not at all fair.

I'm a fan of the LM, but I do get that it can be a handful so if consensus has it that the Vette or s2000 would be a better and more stable choice for Suzuka 800PP, then I'm cool with it (I was doing 1.54's in two races last night in a not fully sorted LM and was beaten in the first by JP guy in a Vette, and in the 2nd by a JP guy in an s2000).

My favorite car is always the fastest for the PP/track so, despite my excitment last night, I don't mind if the LM doesn't get a run here.

And as for the Evora I find it's a surprising car, didn't like it a bit to begin with, but spend some time, learn its quirks and it grips great and can hoot.

Rob

Thanks fellas...

Ok... state of play. After some laps last night, I've decided against running at HSR and Daytona Road. However, the 550PP ceiling really crimps our options @ Fuji, IF we stick to our 'R-tyres only' credo... and the untuned Clio & 111R are the best rides. I don't really want to run those again this time round, and so, I'm relaxing the R-tyre rule for Fuji for now.

In addition, running three 10-lapper @ Suzuka at 800PP will have us all with our eyes on the ends of stalks, and our nerves jangling. With that in mind, the Fuji race will be exactly the same for races 2 and 4... same car. While I expect those races to be competitive, I'd also like them to provide us with a breather between the hardcore races 1, 3, & 5... my hope is that a little extra 'familiarity' with the combo will make it less stressful.

So here it is...

1. Suzuka - 800PP : Blitz ER34 (R tyres only)
2. Fuji F - 550PP/RWD : Ferrari 512BB (S tyres only)
3. Suzuka - 800PP : GT LM (R tyres only)
4. Fuji F - 550PP/RWD : Ferrari 512BB (S tyres only)
5. Suzuka - 800PP : Corvette / Tuned (R tyres only)

I'll write it up properly over the weekend, but that's the line-up... 👍

EDIT
Forgot to say... the other reason that the 512BB might be useful to you, is that you can also run it in this...

RWD Fuji 550PP (Pro) - Ferrari 512BB '76 One-Make-Event - 5 Laps - xx:03 / :23 / :43

:)

I did look at the Fairlady, and, if memory serves, that won't run R1 at 550PP (...so I guess the 350z won't either). Once it was clear that I wasn't going to have to go with S-tyres, I felt the 512 was a natural choice, given some people may run in the GTP event (link above).

For SAR/MNR events I generally try and make a concession to those fellas would can't find more than a few hours a week to race and/or tune. With the 512, people in the GTP event will post a barrage of setups that are working for Fuji at 550PP... and that's why I picked it.

Believe me... tuning 3 cars at 800PP to stay on the black stuff at Suzuka is all the work that many people can handle :)

Look like an excellent event series Chris I'll be particularly interested in seeing how the Vette times compare with the LM. Agree with the same same 550PP races.

Well i will not be complaining about that setup - looks like a whole lot of fun.
As for the S tyres....on a track like fuji i think it is way more fun with all that space to slide it around abit plus the fact that most of the drivers who attend this event atm know which pedals to use.

I will have to wipe the dust off the GTLM-think the last time i drove it was at a MNR event months ago....Rob we may need some assistance with the handling package on this one....if you don't mind releasing some intellectual property.

Lets get it on!

Not happy with my own LM tune at the moment seeking advise from a GTLM squad member who dusted me off by 1.5 secs a lap last night, when have his thoughts will post tune on TORC

The GTLM is great fun to drive - but I'm not sure about how to tune it. I might put in some time today working it out.

Ok lads... the results of wk 4, and the final standings for the combo list:

A shame that we we're let down by the network and the end, but we had some fantastic fun and some great racing along the way :)

My first toast, is as always, to all who took part... raced hard, raced well, and with class - you've all been brilliant, again 👍

By virtue of my attendance record, 19 races (the most of anybody), I managed to nick the major, with Blair & Rob powering their way onto the podium with some great race averages - well done, lads

Rob's fabulous consistency also earned him the bronze in the contest of the best finishers... the K.O. specialists! With silver, the lightening-fast DEVIE... I hope we get the lad in for a few more races this round. And the same could be said of Mr Gold... young Madison... what a talent - quite brilliant! We done, you three

The results tell the story....excellent work Chris.
I like the stat on the race/points....really shows who's carrying the biggest 'stick'.

Think this next set will really push drivers - 10laps at 800PP ain't for the weak of heart - attack..attack..attack
see you's in the sand pit!

Congrats on your win chris :)

Probably going to take a break from GT5P for a few weeks. Have gotten to that stage again of having no urge to play. Might pop in for a few races here & there in this next set but that's about it. Can't wait for the final game to have some more cars & tracks at last :D

I know what you mean SS. I don't really find GT5P as enjoyable anymore as well. But I'll always participate in MNR for the great racing. 👍

Ok... guys 'n' gals... here we go again with for next SAR/MNR program. Keith's (Rypien's) baby continues to evolve, but this time with three 800PP races at Suzuka, I think there'll be more pain (a lot more), as well a greater sense of achievment for those who can stay the course. Just a reminder of the changes made in our last iteration:

1. If a racer was unfortunate enough not to get 'matched' with another SAR/MNR competitor, they were not eligable for any points. No longer! A racer who attempts to enter a SAR/MNR race in the usual fashion, but finds themselves bumped to a grid on their own, will now receive 10 pts (equivalent to a 4th place finish).

2. We will now enter races at the half-minute mark, and on the '2s', e.g. race 1 for MNR will now start at 8:02.30 pm AET (GMT +10). Previously, we have started on the '1s' to avoid traffic, but when matching is slow, an 8:01 start may not be sufficient to separate us from randoms matching at 8:00. I'm hoping the extra 90 secs will reduce the number of randoms on our grids, and perhaps reduce the likelihood that racers will find themselves needed to apply change #1 (above).

SAR & MNR

Car & Track combinations will be locked in for a period of time (provisionally, until Monday 24th Aug), and points (see below) will now be awarded to (SAR & MNR) racers finishing in the top 10 places.

Racers may run both days (Sunday & following Monday), or one of either, but will only be credited with their best finish in a particular combo for that week.

Points will be awarded as follows:

1st = 25 pts, 2nd = 20 pts, 3rd = 15 pts, 4th = 10 pts, 5th = 7 pts, 6th = 5 pts, 7th = 4 pts, 8th = 3 pts, 9th = 2 pts, and 10th = 1 point

We say it everytime, but the SAR & MNR ethos remains the same - it's still about fun! The points are there to add fun! All the fundamentals of Gentlemen's OLR apply, and remember, our target is ZERO Contact.

Will miss you B... you're one of our yardsticks, and a great bloke to have ontrack & in-thread. Here's hoping your 'few' isn't 'too few'... 👍

Only had time to do the first two races in SAR.
RACE 1: DEVIE, me, JoeNinety and Aussienicko.
DEVIE got away from the start, I managed to pull him in after 3 or 4 laps, then we battled, swapping the lead a couple of times a lap for 3 or 4 laps. Then about lap 7, JoeNinety appeared from nowhere.. I'm sure there was no-one in my mirrors.. serious.. invisible ?? anyway....
J90 got past me, and going up into Casio I took the outside line, J90 on the inside, I outbraked myself, handing DEVIE and JoeNinety a 3 second advantage. I couldn't pull them in, so ended up with a 3rd.

RACE 2: Just me and DEVIE, as the rest decided at the last minute to delay their start. On the run down to Turn 1 from the start, I knew I had an advantage as I pulled alongside DEVIE. I waited for the right opportunity and went past. DEVIE didn't have the power, so even in slipstream couldn't really close up enough for a move on me. So it was just a matter of me keeping the line tight to secure a win.

Race 1: 3rd
Race 2: 1st
Race 3: DNS
Race 4: DNS
Race 5: DNS

Looks like it will be a great month of racing. Unfortunately, due to work I will only be able to attend a few SAR/MNR meetings.

Not sure cloaking devices will be included in GT5 - too Trekky :)

The Blitz ER34 is a amazing car to drive in power delivery and sound , at 800PP she is running 500kw!~ but so linear , not like the Vett at all.
10laps in these high PP cars is a battle and if you make a mistake it can be very hard to get back in touch with the lead bunch.....but don't give up! - because the guy in front of you is sweating it out just like you/me.

GTLM - was everything i thought it would be - like one of those stealth jets that would fall out of the sky if it didn't have 10 computers trying to fly it....fast but what a handful...i guess it was time to learn how to drive this monster!

Will be on track tonight

SAR Results

Race 1 - 2nd
Race 2 - DNS
Race 3 - 3rd (I think there was a non-SAR racer in front of me, 4th otherwise)
Race 4 - 1st
Race 5 - 1st

Didn't have the best of starts to an SAR event while struggling to adjust to non-widescreen GT5P. I nearly didn't run Races 4 and 5 because of it, but I'm glad I changed my mind since I ended up having some excellent battles with GTP_joeninety and TORC_stonemonkey (thanks fellas). Skipping tonight's MNR to catch up on project work but I'll be back this Sunday.

SAR Results:

Race 1 - 1st
Race 2 - 2nd (me and Ripping)
Race 3 - N/A
Race 4 - N/A
Race 5 - N/A

Still working out tunes but should be right for MNR.

Won't be able to make MNR tonight due to more work to do.... :( Will hopefully make next week's races. Have a great time guys. 👍

Not so many of us racing tonight but I had a great time. Thanks fellas.

Race 1 I had 2 dc's then found myself in a race with LF & two JP guys. The JP guys quickly parked, as did LF after 5 laps, so raced alone for half the race, dunno if its a fair 1st, but I'll claim it until struck off.

Race 2 I managed to start the 512BB without adjusting weight so was down on PP. A stirling battle was had with Wayne, who about to pass on lap 3 hit the wrong button & came to a halt, I whizzed off but when crossing the line just ahead of him on lap 4 I thought race was over and took my hands of wheel, & picked up sixaxis to go to chat screen.... fizzzzle. Wayne waited, we had another epic battle and finished the race in joint 2nd place.

Race 3 was stressful, got punted by a GTP guy in an s2000 (not his fault, my early braking) but led the LM's for 9 laps, made a mistake under the bridge which cost a sec or two. Lion Face closed in, but I managed to get over the line by a sec or so.

Race 4 To and fro with chris for 4 laps, happily let him draft into the lead going into lap 5, remained close then turning on the straight was struck by a momentary will I? won't I? moral dilemma before drafting him for the win.

Race 5 got my just deserts. I'll have to learn to drive the Vette. Bugger.

So results were: 1, 2, 1, 1, 4

Great night! Connected to a few games with fellow racers and had a blast!

Race1 - 2nd (2 MNR's - vrrm and myself)
Race2 - 1st (by myself with a random in a clio)
Race3 - 2nd
Race4 - 4th
Race5 - 1st

Race1 - Failed connecting twice, 3rd time lucky into a game with two randoms and vrrm. First time ever driving this car. Probably last time ever driving that car too. Hate it, don't feel like setting it up, its ugly and makes a horrible sound. Was dead last after being taken out by one of the randoms on lap 1. vrrm was well in the lead so I thought i'd drop it. Parked it in the sand at turn2 on lap 5 and watched vrrm go 'round in circles. From what I saw, he had that car pretty much wrapped up.

Race2 - Failed to connect 3 times, joined in with a random driving a Clio. Bah!

Race3 - GTLM, love the car, love the challenge it presents. Vaguely remember the race. Appeared to be a bunch of GB guys in S2000's with us MNR's in GTLM's. Pulled off the line well enough but held back going into turn 1 and rolled out of turn 2 last. Up ahead chaos broke loose with cars everywhichway. Passed an S2000, Joeninety and Stonemonkey in the mess, ended up coming out of Dunlop corner behind vrrm and synwraith and another S2000 in 4th overall. I was trying to keep in touch and get a feel for the car, still not 100% comfortable with it and my inconsistent lap times show as much. Ran a little wide at 130r, putting a wheel on the dirt and spinning it, Joeninety went by but I managed to collect it neatly and was back in the race.

Joe, complaining about the GTLM in the chat before the race, showed me how bad he was by putting up decent lap times and passing the S2000 ahead of us. Rather impressed, and disappointed he hadn't fallen off the track yet. But a few laps later, the corner just before Dunlop at the end of the essess, he got a bit of lift-off oversteer and put it sideways across the grass, ending up on the outside of Dunlop. I tried to avoid him but sideswiped on the way past to catch the S2000. The two leaders at this point were 10seconds up the road.

A lap later, I was in a position to put the S2000 down a place, attempted to draft down the back straight failed, as he clearly had the bigger balls through 130r than I did. As we approached the chicane, the two leaders had had a tangle and were within arms reach. I ended up nailing the S2000 down into turn1 with a late braking dive down the inside from a much better position that lap and put chase to the leaders who were roughly 2 seconds...
But to no avail, they had a much better pace than I did, and putting some concentration into it, i nailed a personal best of 1:53.6xx as their lead yo-yo'd from 2 seconds to 6 over a few laps. Ultimately pulling away from me. Last lap vrrm dropped it at the degner curves and i was less than a second behind rolling into split 2, but he had the measure of me and comfortably maintained his position through the remainder of the last lap. Thoroughly enjoyed the race!

Race4 - I really enjoy the 512bb and don't race it anywhere near as much as I would like to. This race could have been a lot of fun, but foiled by the weight bug which i forgot to correct loading up the car. So not only was I running on S1's, the extra power those tires afforded me was quickly lost in the pounds the car had put back on. Stone and Vrrm took off, I was left in a lonely 3rd as Joeninety had some fun with an NSX random behind. The extra weight was costing me nearly 2 seconds per lap, and after Joe had dropped the NSX, he quickly moved up to the back of me. Lap 4 he put a beautiful move down the inside of me going into turn one and held the car nicely. I tried to be annoying and fake a move into turn 2 but he wasn't having any of it. I rolled to a slow 4th a few seconds down on Joeninety. Enjoyed the race nonetheless, just must remember for next time!

Race5 - This was a surprise to me. I took the car out for a practice before the race started, got a feel for the first corner before I had to quit to join the race. I figured I could use the GTLM's corner speed as a guide and it would see me right. Using an old setup I had done myself from who knows when, I thought i'd give it a blast in the name of fun.

Got off the line well, first corner mess with a GTR random falling off the track and some interesting lines taken. I fell behind vrrm and stone into 3rd. Vrrm mentioning that the Corvette wasn't his type of car in the chat beforehand, I figured it didn't matter as he would drive the **** out of it anyway and I thought he was doing just that in 1st. But a few mistakes and a tussle with 2nd place stone allowed me to keep in touch while i figured out what speeds the car would let me do. Vrrm eventually dropped it at degner allowing stone and myself to slip past on lap 2.

I kept in touch with Stone largely due to the generous draft effect of GT5P, but I couldn't really make an impression. On my screen he was getting a bit squiggly coming out of corners while I was having no such problem, and learning the car was a lot more forgiving than the GTLM, I started to push. About lap 5 I was getting comfortable enough to overtake him, and a slow draft down the back straight allowed me to pull along side for 130r, but he ultimately took the corner and the chicane. Although I took a tidier line out of the chicane and moved down the inside of turn 1, my favorite passing spot for this circuit.

I've never been to good being in the lead of a race, haven't been there much and so I brake a little earlier as a side effect, which I think messed with Stone a little. I soon got into my rhythm again and getting used to the car, to give you an idea, it took me until lap 6 before I wasn't braking into turn 3. Stone slipped at one of the corners gifting me a 2.224 second advantage. Why I remember that number? because that number came up over the next 3-4 splits of the following couple of laps. We were matching each other sector time for sector time. It was quite crazy (pardon the pun) before lap 8 where I managed to pull out another second, I believe in part due to an error on stone's behalf. This gave me a comfortable 3 second gap where I just managed the last few laps to bring it home and give NZ a win :D Joe finishing 3rd just topped off the race and the night.

Thank you for the racing guys, and thank you for reading my post, I don't know whats worse, my long winded post race write ups or my driving
