Race 1 (tonight): Just myself & vrrm both running 430's. Fantastic race, bumper to bumper the whole 10 laps.

There was an accident on lap 4 or so where in turn 3 vrrm went wide and lost a heap of speed. I tried to take advantage of this by going around the outside of him in the entrance to 100R. When I thought I was clear I begun coming onto the racing line however we then collided. I instantly hit the brakes, as I thought it was my fault however rob also slowed down to let me back in the lead.

We continued on however the entire time I felt like that accident, at least from my view, was my fault so I shouldn't be the winner. Tried to get rob into the lead however he didn't want it either  We both sort of half paced it over the finish line, myself 1st & him 2nd. Great racing 👍

Race 2 (tonight): Ran the clio and wasn't that fast, holding up nick often. Must not be running enough power.

Nick, myself & a random driver, all in clios, pulled away early from the lotus's to get a good lead. On lap 3-4 some chaos happened, where firstly nick ran wide out of degner slightly into the sand, I followed him through the corner and tried to avoid but made a mess of that and wacked his right rear. This sent him onto the grass but at speed still. I backed off to let him in front which now meant we were side by side heading towards the hairpin.

However both of us at reduced speed meant the driver behind thought it was a good time to try 3 wide. He ghosted through me but hit nick in the hairpin. I got back in-front but felt that was partly my fault for sending nick off onto the grass (and then the resulting mess that was caused) so when he caught back up and got in front, I sat behind and didn't make moves for the remainder of the race to finish 2nd. Sorry about that nick :nervous:

Race 3 (last night): Like vrrm wrote yesterday, we were one two coming out of the final turn on the first lap. I was drafting him down the front straight then he suddenly swerved as wayne's car was sitting there on the grid :scared: It was too late and I slammed into it, losing a massive amount of speed and going into the wall, along with copping a penalty. Got back racing, passed the other 2 random drivers and was slowly catching rob but the damage was already done. Finished 2nd.

Race 4 (last night): Just myself & rob all alone for this one. He chose the clio, I was in the elise with new gearing. Again, another fantastic race. Managed to get past on the final lap to get the win.

Race 5 (tonight): Started mid pack which resulted in getting caught up in some T1 action. Was 4th or 5th coming out of there and from there passed a few drivers but then battled with a white NSX while devie drove off into the distance. Pretty disappointed as the GT-R just didn't seem to have the speed I was getting in free run. Was able to crack a few 38's for the first time in testing but couldn't get near that speed in the race. Finished 2nd.

Finishes:

Race 1: 1st
Race 2: 2nd

Good racing as usual
Results:
1 - 2
2 - 4
3 - 3
4 - 1
5 - 3

Race 5 ended strangely I made some mistakes and was passed then repassed the passed again by rippingsilk. As I was closing in to pass him again approaching the finish he slowed. Not knowing what was going on I took the foot off and coasted over the line in 3rd.

In the last 2 races an AU driver tagged ITR_ROT4RY participated in an NSX. First at Suzuka then immediately following at Fuji. He obviously knew our tracks and race start times and he had very different tunes in the NSX each race. He was a pretty good driver, fair, but when we were in Clio's and Elise's in the first race and GTR's or 430's in the 2nd he was out of syn in the NSX. He held me up in the first race and in the second despite getting in front of him I was then distracted wondering where he was and spun.

What do you guys think about me contacting him and inviting him to join in & drive the specified cars or stay out & let us get on with it?

whoops didn't see extremecar / ITR_ROT4RY's post preceding mine.

My comment above stands. You seem to be a fast and fair driver but being out of syn in a different car doesn't help. Better to join the party.

no worries... can't race with you ppl anymore anyway cause you're only running the races on sunday and monday right?

EDIT: btw sorry that I distracted you on the GTR race... but I thought my car kept up with the GTRs pretty well, I did a 39 flat consistently without drafting anyone.

yep just Sunday & Monday. Personally think it's a pity if you can't join in 1.39 is faster than I've been able to get an NSX to go round Fuji at 700PP.

well yeah can't do anything about it... I've got uni to think about you know :yuck:. I'm just glad that today I had some fun with my own tuned nsx-r and keeping up with most of the pro racers here :).

@ Lion-Face: I claimed 6th in race 5 because R0T4RY was using a not using the specified car. So 5th is yours :D

EDIT: Can Stonemonkey or anyone else clarify this for me?

Yep - you can claim 6th as Rot4ry was not in the specified car for that event.

...was in a tug 'o war with Stone ...I opened up the gap to about 4.5 seconds across the line.
Heh... I was hanging on for grim death, waiting for a mistake, but if you made one, mine must have been worse, or more frequent. I was waiting for Ed to come back at me too... he always does in the F40 ...either he or Toiv usually overhaul me on lap 8 or 9, after being light-years behind. Made for an excellent, if tense, race... and you were just too good, LF 👍

---

Lads... for those of you who raced SAR, specifically race 5, if you haven't already posted that finish could you please do so. Cheers :)

OT - Earlier this week, joeninety mentioned to me the opportunity for a wee mid-week (totally unofficial & off-schedule) race meet (...you still on fer that, W?). Anyway, I thought I'd open it up and get nominations for 2 cars we might peddle. Multiple races, but just the 2 rides, so we get some re-matches :sly:

No schedule set as yet (though, with the house to myself, I'm hoping tonight will be a go!), and I'm gonna let joeninety pick one of the car/track combos (...his idea, an' all). The second car/track combo will fall out by way of consensus... so if you have time (...possibly tonight), post a car/track combo or endorse a combo already submitted. I won't be suggesting a combo, coz I get to pick the SAR/MNR rides :dopey:

The clio is good for very close racing, but would be nice to pick something different to the usual rides in SAR, MNR.
Off the top of my head, perhaps the 512 Boxer at Suzuka ? Maybe that doesn't drop to 550pp.
Regardless, I'll probably be in for a few tonight.

Ok - i had a crap TNR and if i can't get hooked up in the main group this time around i may well slip into a coma.......

That aside.....let's get it on!

wheehoo, I'm in for tonight. Like the idea of a 599 at Fuji 700PP (excellent choice) - Start time? And what's the other car track?

Normal time start (8:02.30 AET) for 559 @ Fuj... 👍

Other car/track will be the Bimmer 135 @ Suz... (J90 and I have already played with this... it's  )

If we alternate these two, we can stick to a regular 8:02.30 / 8:32.30 / 8:52.30 / etc schedule! Easy-peasy :D

Wow that blew the TNR blues away! I'm now sitting at work completely shattered......
Great racing, Great control(that includes that helicopter move you have got going on Crazyhorse).
Fuji T1 - three 599's can fit through that corner at the same time - awesome - thx guy's

Yes, there was some good stuff on show last night, wasn't there, perhaps a little more quality shown at Fuji than Suz... but even there, I was awesome down most of the straights, most of the time

dunno if you guys have seen these vids:

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=4867

The second vid is interesting in the insight it gives re damage in GT5.

The dood in the wrx 07 spins into the armco then restarts in the path of a following Evo and gets nailed. It is the WRX that restarted in the path of the Evo that suffers all the damage. The following car doesn't appear to have suffered at all.

Bodes well for damage physics that will help racing quality and not prevent 3 599's going thru turn 1 at Fuji side by side.

Edited my post from the other day to include the pics now that albums are working again :)

That's because, at least for now, PD has chosen to give only certain cars damage (most likely just race cars). So in that scenario, the Evo was one of the 'non-damage' cars.

There's been a lot of debate about this and other details in the GT5 forum. I'm disappointed with some of the info so far but hoping it's all good for the full game 👍

Another good nights racing last night guys. I did miss a couple of races, and too many 2 or three car grids, while the rest get disconnected or failed attempts. I do hope Sony is aware of the problems since the recent server maintenance and are doing something the fix it.
The 599 ended up being a great choice of car at Fuji, and its a decent tune you posted too Joeninety. 👍 I thought it was great with three of us side by side in Turn 1 for several laps in Race 3.
And it looked like the same was happening in Race 5 too, but I was (un)lucky enough to get a break early and missed the action.

I'll be there on the grid for a Thursday Night Thrashing. Same cars, tracks and times. ??
My thoughts on GT5.... dissappointed that Porsche is not there, very dubious about the damage implementation. But if its the same gameplay as GT5P with 10 times the tracks and cars there will be some fun to be had ! MNR at Nordschleife anyone ? :P

EDIT: Sorry I backed out the racing vrrm... I felt out of sorts. Maybe I do need the sleep . Work is such an inconvienience among my days off !!

ooh.. thats sound a bit no good... hope the glitch will fix itself....
though the servers seemed to stay up ok. we got three more races with no disconnects i think.

Race 1: Missed it. got to the PS3 a bit slow.

Race 2: Ran the Elise 111R. Was a good little battle with stonemonkey and ED5. But trying to pass stonemonkey on front straight lap4/5 I went to far right and swiped ED5.. we both went off into the dirt at T1 (apologies). I didn't challenge again for a place so took 6th and last.

Race 3: The F40's. I had the pole advantage and held onto the lead while dicing with stonemonkey and peekay i think it was. I stretched to a 2s lead around lap 7, only to be hauled in on the last lap or two, but taking the win by 0.3s.

Race 4: A close race with three of us in Clios. However stonemonkey and (sorry forgot) had a coming together at Casio, allowing me to slip through for the lead with Ed5 in the green 111R hounding me all the way. I took the win with about a car length to spare.

Race 5. Close again with peekay and stonemonkey. They were battling hard while I stayed a distance behind. Not sure what happened but stonemonkey veered left at turn three and left peekay and I to fight for the win. I fortunately won that little battle.

my results :
Race 1: DNS
Race 2: 6th
Race 3: 1st
Race 4: 1st
Race 5: 1st

A nice afternoon racing all round. Thanks to all competitors. 👍

Race 1: Too busy watching the V8SC, didn't make it in time

Race 2: Me and TORC_vrrm managed to break away pretty early, the Clios always seem to get the better start against the 111R's. Really enjoyed battling with vrrm for the lead the whole way through the race - single file all the way up to Spoon, then I'd get past him through 130R but then he'd get me back by T1. Finally managed to hold him off through T1 on Lap 5, had enough of an edge for the rest of the lap to take the win.

Are you sure it was me ripping_silk? Maybe it's another SAR runner you are referring to?

Race 3: R2/R2 didn't work for me here... Had a quiet test session, driving a few tenths off the pace of ripping_silk in front.

Race 4: Role-reversal time :D Managed to keep enough speed through the first couple of turns to stay in the draft of the Clios, with TORC_peekay in the other Lotus following behind. An incident between stonemonkey and Des at Casio Triangle left me an ripping_silk battling for the lead (Race 2 deja vu). Great defensive driving by ripping_silk gave me no passing opportunities, so I just settled in the shadow and brought it home in 2nd.

Race 5: Quite a few epic battles here. In the first part of the race TORC_stonemonkey was showing off with impressive late-braking stunts at Turn 1, to which I had no answer for. Then a bit of deja vu happened when he spun off in front of me on the way to 100R (it happened before in an F40 race) I thought he was far enough in front of me to rule out the possibility of a lag punt, so I took the lead. Leading the race didn't last very long since ripping_silk caught me and got past. TORC_peekay followed suit in the F430, so I settled for 3rd.

Race 1 - DNS
Race 2 - 1st
Race 3 - 4th
Race 4 - 2nd
Race 5 - 3rd

Had a lot of fun with SAR today, might be lurking around tomorrow night for some fun in MNR as well.

***

EDIT: MNR 24/08/09

Network drops were pretty annoying tonight, topped off by a couple of GT5:P freezes which had never happened before :grumpy:

Race 1 - 3rd (pushed way too hard through 100R on the last lap while leading, gave ss-88 an easy win :D)
Race 2 - DNS (got into a sort of Ashes rematch with a couple of GB drivers, did much better than Ponting)

Pretty much gave up after several d/c's trying to get into Race 3, time to get back to uni work now...
