Wow. Looks like I'm going to pass up your mileage. My 2008 Civic Si has 16990 miles, and I've only had it since September '08 (new). I love the SRT4 but I don't think I could have one myself. I don't quite trust them to not fail at some point.

I baby mine, unless im doing auto x, i treat it with respect, unlike these other srt4 boys out there. and i know a couple... because yes they do fail, alot.
...the transmissions are known for grenading them selves when pushed to hard.

Quick little update on my car:

V8S2000.jpg

Minor firewall modifications and mounts for the engine are all done. That crossmember is going to need to be cut and reinforced for clearance, but the engine/trans placement is now final. All that's left is the rear end, fabbing the turbo manifolds and hot/cold side plumbing, and a tune. Still waiting on more parts, but the research/planning phase is pretty much all wrapped up! 👍

Of course, the only tool pictured is the ubiquitous BFH. Rock that car man, keep us updated. 👍

Cheers,
Jetboy

If I lived in America I wouldn't bother with an SRT4. I've always figured them to be the same or worse than a 3 MPS/MazdaSpeed in terms of torque-steer considering they have even more power.

But have you driven one? Torque steer off the line isn't bad at all--wheelspin is evenly distributed and brief--and then it'll hook up and go pretty damn quickly by FWD standards.

People don't seem to give the SRT-4 enough credit. Sure, it's FWD, and sure, a number of SRT-4 owners are young idiots, but the car itself isn't bad by any means for what it is and for what they cost. They're one of the best performance bargains in the past decade.

My friend's SRT4 does a pretty consistent mid-9 second 1/8th mile, he said he's been in the lower 8s with slicks. That's just with BFG KDWs, a short ram intake, and a wastegate mod to allow 18psi. And then it kicked my car's ass in the corners with no handling mods besides the tires. I think it even had a better ride quality. Its certainly a strong contender in the sport compact class, a little sketchy on reliability like most Chryslers.

As far as torque steer goes, we were hitting real tight turns at about 35+mph, full wheelspin in second gear on exit, shift to third, wheelspin followed by us moving to the other side of the road. Keep in mind that's a country road that fits two cars very carefully.

Since I got challenged on my claim to have a Pontiac Fiero.

Here is the car I have since 1992, with the unique feature of my Pontiac Fiero GT, the exhausts have been changed. (Not completely to my liking, but it was technically needed to change the exhaust and Catalyst).

It is also in my avatar.

I am on my L's or Learners Permit. I hope to purchase a 1991-1993 Honda Prelude VTEC. They have been the starter car on almost all my Gran Turismo games and are priced (for a decent one) around $5000-$6000AUD

The steering rack had to be modified and mounted further forward for clearance, which is done now.
According to Hinson, it wasn't moved forward, only vertically. Moving it forward would screw up the Ackermann geometry. I was surprised when I saw you posted this.

Excellent choice, I had a black on black leather SR-V (hence the username) which was the Canadian version of the VTEC. Great cars, and I miss mine every day. 👍

Agreed. Presumably they're aftermarket, so unscrew 'em and spray 'em - you've got no excuse ;)

EDIT

Nope, looks like the ST170 came with those black things. Shame on Ford.

they are now silver had them done when i had my splitter resprayed as it had a few stone chips on it. have been for a year its an old picture. there not aftermarket it has the options pack on it which include xenon headlamps and they require headlamp washers by law. or i'd take them off

As promised, My brothers car
W208 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG

Car is lil dirty since it was snowing, and its too cold to wash it for now. I test drove it last night, and man it's a beast!!! I use to drive a C280 95 which had roughly 200 HP and 200 Torque, I thought that car was pretty cool, but man, this thing feels like a jet fighter even half way though the throttle!

PC. I posted here a while ago that I drive a C280, But since he sold it for this car, He gave me his car instead. So now I drive the Green 300E 3.2 (you can find pics under my GTP profile Photo Albums)

Beautiful Mercedes and one of my favorites, I just never understood why they put the clock where they did. The kick plates are really nice though, and although they don't really go towards exterior styling or performance, its a nice little touch that really helps set off the car for people that drive them. 👍

Thank you. Also even its the AMG, I am still surprised how many features are packed into this car. It's really nice car, I just came back from my classes, and looking it parked in the driveway just raise some hair on back of my neck, wow its a nice car. Also this car has the sequential transmission, or whatever the Mercedes calls it. My bro told me it works pretty great, but I need to try it out myself.

Let us know how it goes, I would love to be able to drive one...or anything AMG for that matter, as I've only heard good things. 👍

Today my bro took me for a ride, we put some gas in it, and drove on the highway. It seems very firm, tight, and still drivable, there were some bumpy roads, yet it felt civilized.

Very smooth power and transmission. For the Sequential or whatever it is, you just move the stick shift left for gear down(-) and right for gear up (+). Car won't change gears unless you change it, they felt pretty quick, like a second delay when downshifting, and quicker on up shifts. Of course this is not the SLS dual clutch technology lol. But in the sequential they feel very smooth as well.

Braking, well amazing. Its very stable when turning, very flat, body roll is not noticeable. My bro tells me you can feel the front tires grip as you turn. All car reviews say CLK55 does not have the feel like the M3 but its still better then average sports car. Also this car is heavy yet it feels quick, nimble, steady at any speed and turns, you just forget you have a heavy car. I think its around 1.6 tons. I need to check on the door to see the exact amount. Ill check it tomorrow..

I also still have to test drive it more myself, but it's my bro's also I don't wanna get too excited and burn up the rear tires lol! or crash! haha

The car its just a beast! Yet to mention it has dual heat zone, heated seats. great sound from Bose system, Seats can move in any way desired, as well the seats have air pockets to stiffen them up or make them softer for legs back etc.. everything's is just packed.. I am supiresed AMG still keeps in mind to make the driver and passenger to ride very comfortably.

You really have to try one yourself.. Go to a dealer and test drive some ;)

Also with 35,000 miles, super nice condition, for the price my brother got it for..what else he could buy? a new Honda FIT?

Excellent write up. Thanks for making me even more jealous. I would never have thought it to be a well handling car, especially with the V8 up front. The left/right shifting of the transmission sounds awkward, but normal compared to my up=up/down=down in my G35. Don't ask me what they were thinking, you don't know how many times I bounced it off the red line when I first got it. :ouch:
We looked at a C230 when shopping for our last car, but the price for repairs (atleast here in Canada) kind of scared my girlfriend away. I never realized you could pick an AMG up for that price though, makes me want to go car shopping again.

Price was lowered because my bro loves to argue with dealer , as well we traded in my old C280 for it. But yeah, sometimes you can be surprised if you look right how many great cars in nice conditions are out there. Sure brand new car is a brand new car, no better feeling out there, but for even as high as 20 thousand dollars, what new car can you buy that is sporty with lots of power and just has the WOW factor? For that USED market is best.

My brother wanted a brand new car at first.. Only thing fast were the Hundai Coupe 2.0T, WRX, and something else, all for around 25k. Bit small cars for him, also not enough power.

You have a G35? Cool! That is a fine car as well, It has less power then the AMG, but I bet handling can be the same or even better since your car is lighter. (well also depends on the suspension)

The Specs for the AMG in the booklet are 342 HP at 5500 RPM and 376 ft.lb at only 3000RPM. It's enough! Tires are pretty wide, 7 1/2 at front and 8 1/2 in the rear, so this helps the grip as well.
According to this review, 0-60 should be 5.3 seconds for the Cabriolet version Other review said 5.9 seconds for cabriolet and full second faster for the Coupe version., So maybe since my bro has the hard top, should be lighter, maybe 5.1 seconds? But we did not try it out, also we don't wanna kill it on week 1. Normal city driving is good enough so far lol.

About fixing it? Yeah should be bit pricey since its the AMG model., Me and my bro ownd M-B models before this one, we know a guy, a good friend for my father, who fixes MB vehicles and bit restoration as well. So it wont be too bad with the AMG ;). Also seems the Owner of the vehicle left every evidence of going to a dealer for check ups. There is this one booklet "passport" like with stamps and signatures by the mechanic's from the MB Dealer ship, so it seems the car had really good care after all.

The book has so many features for the car, I just learn the rear seats can be folded for bigger trunk space.

By the way, what exact G35 you have?

I may be switching around some cars here shortly. Using part of my tax return to purchase a 1996 Civic DX Hatchback from a friend for $1,300 which will become my toy/track car. Then I'm selling my SE-R and purchasing something with 4WD. 👍
