... Wrong Turn 2 - utter utter terrible. It may have one of the hottest girls i've ever seen, and for once the acting wasnt that bad. Plus it had that cool huge guy from Bad Boys 2. But it was just bad - 3/10 ...
I'm pretty sure the creative process for this movie went something like so:
There's a guy sitting in a room with a few of his droogies, and one of 'em says "We should make a movie with a whole bunch of weird scenes, where none of them have anything to do with each other. We'll throw in some toy bunnies, and show some boobies to keep men interested. Then we'll hire Jeremy Irons to appear for about six minutes and Laura Dern to babble constantly about nothing. Oh, let's not forget to add some scenes in Polish and not bother to put some subtitles in it. We'll also ask David Lynch to direct it." [Fade to Black]

I saw Blow Up, from 1966. I kinda miss those old movies where they could spend a whole hour just doing character development... contrary to the 3 minutes it takes for newer movies. The problem is that they resolve the rest of the movie in 30 minutes. Oh well.
Way to predictable. I figured out the entire plot with the first 15-20 minutes. Fake shoot outs and beyond unrealistic characters. Still, it was entertaining and I like the story. I found it creative and interesting.
Thunderbirds Are Go - 6/10
Saw it with the boys. They thought it was too boring. It was. Still OK and a classic movie style.
Murder on the Orient Express (1974) Pretty good recreation of the Agatha Christie book. An amazing cast as well: Anthony Perkins, Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave and Michael York, among others.
Well, what a movie. What can I say about it. A touch too long perhaps, but then again I didn't look at the time at all during the movie, and it didn't seem to go slowly. I was tempted to check my watch though.
Denzel was great, and better than Russell as far as I'm concerned. For me, there could have been a bit more gangster too him. I mean, Denzel only killed a couple of people. But then again it was that that gave him his charm and made him so likable.
I think Frank was super cool. I think Russell's character was well played too, but I didn't like him as much as I did Frank. But that was probably intended. The action scene towards end of the movie could have been better I think - after a 2hr30min build up I kind of wanted more. And the final twist that occured in the interview room at the conclusion of the film was, well, interesting... But, it was inspired by (what does that even mean?) a true story after all.
I watched Juno the Friday before last and last night(with a friend) and Cloverfield this past Friday.
Juno - 8/10 - the girl reminded me of my friend that I saw with the second time (minus the pregnancy part) but I liked the movie alot too.
Cloverfield - 6.5/10 - Alot of people said this was a bad movie and some said it was straight up terrible but I went and saw it anyways because i've seen plenty of movies that critics hated but I actually liked, this was no exception. I thought it was good. Not bad but not great. I just didn't like the ending.
Deliverance - (7/10)
First time I have actually seen more than small clips. And no small clips showed the actual attack. Whoa! I do enjoy movies that are more about the dialogue and character interactions than anything though.
SQUEAL LIKE A PIG!!!!
Spartacus - (8.5/10)
OK, so we have all seen the "I am Spartacus" scene. If not from Spartacus then parodied in other films. This was great. For those who haven't seen it take Gladiator and give it Braveheart's story. The obvious comparison is with Gladiator. While Gladiator was a good cinematic film it lacks the story or the emotion. Spartacus is motivated by more than just revenge. It was great. Although the end bothered me. (SPOILER WARNING) I understand that to see his wife and child free was his ultimate goal, and one he was willing to lay his life down for, but did he not care for the rest of his men? Yes, the fact that they refused to let him be killed for them was great, but then a true leader would tell them to put their foolish notions aside. Even if death is preferable to slavery, I cannot fathom a man who cares walking past 6,000 of them being crucified without owning up to his own name.
The Bucket List - (7/10)
Two words: Morgan Freeman. Sure, Jack Nicholson is OK, but Morgan Freeman is what makes this movie. It is his presentation that brings you the feel-good feelings, the tears, every emotion you feel.
My main complaint is that your narrator should not already be dead. The only point behind that was to make us think he was alive and shock us when he died. I would have felt the same about his death had I not been surprised.
And I have one other thing to add, only because we do not have a stage performance thread:
The Phantom of the Opera (NOT the movie, but on stage) - (9/10)
The touring Broadway production is in town and I saw this yesterday. I learned that even in a box seat a woman in front of you with big hair can block your view.
Anyway, It is seldom that I see a well-done (read: not dinner theater) stage production. I forget that nothing on a screen can compare. NOTHING!!! This is the second time I have seen the touring production. The first had a better phantom, but the woman who played Christine did it better than I have seen on videos of the on Broadway show. It amazes me how well they show the phantom's collapse from obsessive to psychotic. How the first time we remove his mask he looks far from monstrous, but the second time he has become the monster he thinks he is.
And a side note: sitting in a box seat will make you look over your shoulder when the speaker behind you yells, "I thought I said box 5 was to be left empty!" You suddenly want to check your ticket.
Saw The Bucket List as well. And I'll admit it. I nearly cried at the end. Morgan Freeman had an outstanding role, and Jack...well, Jack was Jack. But it was one of the few movies were I saw another side of him.
Def. a must see from me. It's a great mixture of comedy & sadness.
The scene where Carter fell in the bedroom to the end of his funeral had to be one of the saddest things I had ever seen in a movie.
I've been watching for 5 min. and I'm gonna give it a one because oddly I want to look into getting the soundtrack... I don't remember if I've seen it before or on SNL but, I must have buried it.
It was going to score twice as high as it did, until the final 10 minutes.
I found it too dark to easily tell what was going on, and the battle scenes were confusing as to which one was the Alien and which one was the Predator. And lots of things made no sense.
I'm Legend, The Invasion, American Gangster, National Treasure 2
American Gangster was long sometimes boring but cool
I'm legend was ok but nothing new there
I like the invasion and nicole kidman ofcourse
national treasure 2 was fun
I gotta say I'm not a big Snipes fan but these movies are pretty cool. I guess maybe I'm a bigger sucker for Vampire movies that I first thought too. I've seen parts of these movies before, but not all all the way though.
Hmmm... I'm pretty sure if I did watch it in terms of "good looking girls" that would make me a pedofile. I don't think there are "women" in that movie. xD
Worthless... It's like a kid pointing fingers without any solid evidence and when they did it was all coincidental or references from the beginning of time...
No End in Sight - 2/10
Slightly more credible because they interviewed people directly involved with this mess.
And that number is exactly what this movie deserves. I noticed Chris Tucker hasn't done much since the previous RH flick... it appears he spent all the time eating, since he's a bit larger in this one. Also Jackie Chan doesn't do his own stunts anymore, apparently.
All in all, the jokes are more of the same, except this time they're far more predictable; and the "chinese vs. black" card is well overplayed already.
