2008 Singapore GP.

I'm not excited about this race. It's a really nice track but there doesn't seem to be a lot of places to overtake a car. I guess the winner will be determined by who has the best pit strategy.

Yeah I agree. It looks like a blast to drive(apart from horrible curbs and an awful pitlane), but it doesn't look to be a very passing-friendly track...but who knows eh?

Turn 10 is nothing more than an ontrack hazard. Whats the purpose of those chicanes?
To slow them down. The kerbs were made that high to discourage drivers from riding over them; that way, we won't have a repeat of Spa.

Besides, these are the best drivers in the world. If they're as good as that statement implies, they shouldn't have trouble with them.

There's supposedly three major ones and several minors: the major ones are at the end of the first straight, under brakes into turn seven, and again under brakes into turn fourteen. The minor ones would be down at turn ten and the run into turn seventeen. The turn twenty-three/twenty-four complex is also said to be a possibility.

Okay. I didn't get a chance to see all of the track but the parts I saw it didn't look very encouraging.

I'm suprised it took until FP3 for someone to launch into the air at Turn 10:

Fisichella gets that honour.

"Fly Kingfisher."

Heidfeld's penalty was sort of deserved. The pit lane entry is poorly designed, yes, but F1 cars are all required to have mirrors. From Barrichello's onboard, he was following Heidfeld for more than a few corners. Heidfeld should have known better or atleast been more aware of his surroundings.

Massa is looking good, but he will need a little luck. Hopefully it doesnt rain tonight. But im not feeling confident. :nervous:

Well, not really. The BMW wasn't seen until the last second and probably Heidfeld could not see behind him around the tight curve so the visibility to see behind him is a little harder than any other track, plus you have to add variables like lighting , poorly set up pit lane, visors . It was just a racing accident.

I am surprised no one has posted this yet.

The showed this during SpeedTV's coverage of either practice or qualifying.

Thanks for the photos, couldn't find one yesterday. :guilty:

I guess all of you must be thinking Singapore would be as boring as Valencia, but I think this will just as good as Monaco, there should be more overtaking points in Singapore than Valencia, and with turn 10 anything could happen! :dopey: But agreed, Renault would be able to perform well if hadn't both Alonso and Piquet been eliminated before Q3. Now they need to overtake half the field before they can score some points....... :irked:

Ouch.... pit problems with Massa! His race is (effectively) over... unless he can fight his way back up front... :(

HOLA CRAP what a change of events, wth Alonso's pace these past few days he could very well get a podium finish if not the win!! wow

Fisichella hasn't stopped, Rosberg and Kubica both will recieve a 10 second penalty for pitting under the SC so Trulli and Alonso are good to go..this will be interesting.

I'm a bit confused on how Kimi got fueled after Massa took the hose with him? Was there a spare hose we didn't see?

Why a time penalty? Since it's pretty far off from the end of the race, why not a drive through? Or is it the mandatory penalty for a yellow flag stop?

Hmmm... this will be an interesting result... whoever wins it.

They must stop in their pit box and stay stationary for 10 seconds.

I actually thought those had given them an advantage this season... not this time, though...

Doing the maths... Alonso FTW?

[conspiracy theory]
Piquet crashed deliberately so that the safety car would come out, in order to get Alonso up the front.
[/conspiracy theory]

EDIT: And Ferrari used a lollipop on that stop. The semi-automated system will be in the bin by now.
