Triumph Spitfire Series #2

Excellent pictures watermelon. I didn't realise our lights were on at the Nurburgring.

And very well raced to cc570. Congrats on the series win.

No cartoons today. Sorry!

cc570... WOW!

I sensed that he had an air of determination! :D
At first I thought, oh, he's having a good day today... he must be well-rested, maybe he'd eaten his wheaties. lol
Then it became clear... I got the sense of ambition manifesting! haha It was palpable!!

At Laguna Seca, I saw Jujubean drop back way out behind in last in the beginning, but I hadn't known why. But I was amazed how he was able to catch back up & eventually gain a position. When I watched the replay, I deliberately watched Jujubean catching up to Jackargent. It was quite exciting.
He also kept the lead at Nurburgring for quite awhile.
That carousel is a touchy spot for the Spitfire. Occasionally I just pop out of it & ride the top rim instead, if it seems like it's getting unsettled. The Spitfire just seems to be one of the cars that just does not like the carousel much. haha. Some cars you can really go through the carousel even untidy, and they stay settled... not the Spitfire - it's perfect or spin!!
I liken it to getting the S2000 in a shuffle race on Nurburgring. Must be careful at the top of the crests that are followed by a dip, and in the 1st carousel.

As for the lights on at Nurburgring... The lighting was quite odd there too when I think of it. I haven't taken photomodes on Nurburgring too often... And they came out rather dark in general. Of course the Laguna photomodes are washed out for some reason. So I think I was just having an off day using photomode - a little sloppy with the settings.

I'm not sure how Jujubean & Jackargent were able to put up with the big lizards they encountered at Laguna Seca.
You would expect this thing at the Laguna National Wildlife Refuge, or even at the Laguna Beach resorts perhaps... but it must've been very distracting with them on the race track... and grown to such mutant size.

Notice how the Zebraspits travel in a herd. Of course this is the nature of herding, since if one strays too far from the herd, it will be easy pickins.
But this is not a planned effort for Zebraspits. It has been well documented that each individual Zebraspit in a Zebraspit herd is simply moving itself as close as possible to the center of the fleeing group in order to reduce the danger to itself, and therefore it appears as if the herd is moving together as a unit, when in reality, it's an uncoordinated effort based on self-interest.

In related news, the latest online update for GT5 has included a robust livery editor. This has been a long awaited feature, and many are happy to finally see this addition to the GT franchise.

Definitely going to get on early tomorrow for some practicing (well before the 6pm EDT race), if anyone wants to join me.
Let me know what time you'd be likely to be up for some draft practice!
Possibly later tonight (late EDT).

Next Spitfire Championship:
Series 3

I propose a 4 sprint race championship series in 1 event, (each race about 10-15 minutes max)
In order to save time duration, with multiple races, I propose that grid order is changed to qualifying only for 1st race, and then using Reverse Grid Order Based on Previous Race for the other 3 races.

This might not be happening any time immediately... not sure when but it depends on the interest... and on scheduling & any number of other things.

But I thought I'd get a polling while the Spitfire racing is still fresh in everyone's mind. :D

If you think you might be interested... please participate in this poll.
Those who have not participated in Series 1 or 2, but are interested in Series 3, will get single weight value in the poll.
Those who have participated in at least 1 race during Series 1 &/or 2, will get double weight value in the polling.
Series 1 & 2 Division Champions (& prize winners) will get triple weight value in the polling, as a special reward. (But no cc570 won't get quadruple, we can't have that sweet maple syrup going too far! lol :lol:)

You may send your answers to me in a PM if you'd rather that, of course. Or you may post it here. I will make the overall results of the poll known eventually.

Please cast your vote for tracks by assigning number order in this list. (starting with 1 being your favourite, and so on.) Number them all to ensure your fair say. ;)
Top 4 in polling will be chosen.

= Madrid Mini
= Autumn Ring Mini
= Trial Mountain
= Grand Valley East Reverse
= Daytona Super Speedway
= London Reverse
= OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
= Nürburgring GP/F
= Suzuka East

Note: I have that baby oval shared, if anyone wants a peek!!

Example of MY poll answer:

5= Madrid Mini
8= Autumn Ring Mini
6= Trial Mountain
2= Grand Valley East Reverse
1= Daytona Super Speedway
3= London Reverse
4= OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
7= Nürburgring GP/F
9= Suzuka East

For some reason I haven't been receiving notification emails for any of my subscribed threads. Anyways, I am always up for some more spitfire nonsense.

Congratulations to cc570 for two strong Divisional wins and to watermelonpunch for an impressive point total!

Great Series everyone!

The Spitfire was great fun to drive! Its pretty maneuverable, so it was certainly up to the task of dodging all the wild animals that watermelonpunch/RDAardvark released onto the tracks!

Respectfully,
GTsail

ok ... here are my preferences:

4= Madrid Mini
8= Autumn Ring Mini
2= Trial Mountain
7= Grand Valley East Reverse
1= Daytona Super Speedway
6= London Reverse
3= OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
9= Nürburgring GP/F
5= Suzuka East

But i'm not really fussed where we race - my only concern would be that we get a reasonable variety of tracks.

Good luck & keep up the good work.

Thanks for answering the poll. Hopefully there will be some interest. Again, not in the immediate scheduling, but I would like to race the car some more.

@jujubean
Sorry again about the rear-ending in the last race. :guilty: Was very poor driving on my part.
I later found that the problem was partly caused by my general untogetherness that day. I'd forgotten to shift the ballast back after the Indy race. I had evened it out to 50/50 on Indy... But that was bad on Nurb, since I actually use rear-biased ballast in the car to make it more forgiving in the event I have to do hard braking. As we see, that was for the best that it was the case in other races. :eek: Because any time I was too late braking, too much weight would shift to the front & surge me forward. :ouch:

Of course I should've kept my mouth shut about this. Since it would be a good tactic to try & convince people that front-biased ballast would be good for them to use in the Death Tour. LOL I could've convinced someone to put front-biased ballast in their car, and then get in front of them & brake-check them. :sly:

3 = Madrid Mini
5= Autumn Ring Mini
1 = Trial Mountain
6 = Grand Valley East Reverse
7 = Daytona Super Speedway
956 = London Reverse
8 = OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
2 = Nürburgring GP/F
4 = Suzuka East

And no: voting #956 for London Bloody Reverse is no typo.

Here are my preferences
9 Madrid Mini
4 Autumn Ring Mini
2 Trial Mountain
5 Grand Valley East Reverse
6 Daytona Super Speedway
8 London Reverse
7 OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
3 Nürburgring GP/F
1 Suzuka East

And no: voting #956 for London Bloody Reverse is no typo.

LOL :lol:
It will still get counted as 9. ;)

But so far, it is not in the top 4 in the polling.
Still expecting more poll answers though! ;)

That said, London (not reverse) was the most unpopular track in the polling for last time. Out of 13 tracks to rate, it came out at the bottom at the end of the polling. Even below custom dirt track & the High Speed Ring. :lol: I was rather surprised at that, actually.

But can you blame me for always feeling I should include London as a possible option for a British car? lol

And here is the vote from the Belfast contingent :)

6 = Madrid Mini
4 = Autumn Ring Mini
5 = Trial Mountain
1 = Grand Valley East Reverse
7 = Daytona Super Speedway
9 = London Reverse
8 = OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
2 = Nürburgring GP/F
3 = Suzuka East

I am rubbish at oval racing, hence the vote, but London Reverse is even worse. Even the top gear track comes before London.
Does anyone know why the likes of Silverstone and Brands Hatch were omitted? Or have they ever been in the GT games? (Sorry, not thread hijacking here!)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
You mentioned the Top Gear Test Track!!!

I was thinking - if anyone mentions it, I'll push for including it!!!
LOL

What would be really interesting is a 2-speed traffic race on the TGTT. LOL
Of course I'd really like to put the Schwimmwagens on it. hahaha.

I know those tracks were not in gt4 - but I never played any of the other versions of this game.
And I'm sorry, but I'm completely clueless when it comes to real life race tracks. Or really much about real life motor sports in general, I'm afraid.
For example, I've been to Laguna Beach - but never even knew there was a famous race track there at the time. :guilty:

Anyway, you weren't too bad in the Fun Racers Surprise Night at Indy!!!

And why all this hating on the London track anyway??
I could see if we were talking about shoving a Ferrari on it or something. But it's not that bad in a low power car.

Note: New 0miles Spitfire is available right now in the Online Dealership.
Snap them up for Series 3! :embarrassed:)

Planning on having a Series 3, possibly late August, probably September.

Polling on tracks is still open to interested parties:

Please cast your vote for tracks by assigning number order in this list. (starting with 1 being your favourite, and so on.) Number them all to ensure your fair say.
Top 4 in polling will be chosen.

= Madrid Mini
= Autumn Ring Mini
= Trial Mountain
= Grand Valley East Reverse
= Daytona Super Speedway
= London Reverse
= OwensRacing Baby Oval (very small oval Tokyo Kart track)
= Nürburgring GP/F
= Suzuka East

So if you haven't done the poll yet, you still can do that. :embarrassed:)
(Remember, if you participated in Series 1 &/or 2, you get double-weight to your poll answers!)
