The Photomode Tournament Discussion Thread: Season 6 (2.0)

Theme Name: Forbidden Concept
Brief explanation about the theme: The Chaparral 2J was a radical concept, which was unfortunately banned from racing. Fortunately it's preserved in GT5 (although it's a standard car), so I would like to see photographs of it in motion.

Brief explanation about the theme: Take a photo of the Bugatti Veyron at it's top speed-407km/h (253mph)!

Season 02 of the Photomode Tournament had it's end. Thank's to all who participated in this competition and congrats to Soloracer3 and Revolution. for the win.

Thanks a lot to Nick for the great job in hosting this tournament. It's always great fun to take part and to watch all the other matchs.

I don't think something went wrong (except my defeat against Mitchy :P) and the format of this competition seems to work just fine. 👍

I think it went very smoothly again. The timing seemed much better for whatever reason this go around. I think it was because we didn't have that extra PMC week. It would be nice to see more people get involved on both sides for that extra round.
 
I'm really pleased with second place I never thought I would have made it so far. I think the tournament went very smooth no problems and Nick you did a great job hosting 👍
 
Everything went utterly smoothly in my opinion, we've got this down to a science now! A huge thanks to Luis for putting it all together - really couldn't ask for a better host :cheers:

I know I didn't get a prize car to Wallbreaker for the qualifier, but I'm not sure about the other winners. Also, while Rev won outright, the entire podium is Premiumized already, so... I'll ask Rev what he would like to do about his Premium membership prize :)

Thanks to Nicknamealguem for running the Tournament so well - went off without a hitch, and made for an exciting few weeks here in the Photomode forums! I'm looking forwards to defending my honour in the next one :sly:

@Slipz - I don't think I received anything after the qualifier either! Hmm... premium... can that be added on to the end of my existing 1 year membership? If not then I'm sure I can think of another member who might enjoy it :)
 
I'll check with Jordan about it adding on. If not, I can always hold onto it until your current one does expire, then just gift it on 👍

Just popping out again, so next time I'm home, I'll start sorting out the prizes! I've gotta stop this amount of travelling!
 
not sure this would be possible to set up but i've just thought of it so gonna ask as i think its a pretty good idea. would it be possible to have the polls set so you couldn't see the poll votes until you've voted yourself? Just think this would add another element of fairness to the polls. thoughts anyone?

It's a good idea, Nismo, but unfortunately the board software can't do that. Currently, the option is either to make votes public, or not, but selecting the latter option is permanent, and staff can never see who actually voted then. This could cause issues with cheating, so the unfortunate side effect with our current method is that yep, you'll be able to see who voted where before you vote, if you want.

Personally though, I rarely check poll results until after I've voted, with exception to the Tournament, when I wanted to know how I was doing in my match :)
 
Ok mate no worries. Agreeing on principle is more than enough. I never check until i've voted either but for some reason i did yesterday & it dawned on me that really you shouldn't be able to. Ah well never mind cheers anyway :)
 
Well, I don't know if this subject has been discussed in former threads but I like to throw this in.
The CCCL Competition was created to make entries more comparable.
So a certain car at a certain location is the subject.
Let's discuss the idea (just occasionally by Judge's Choice) of a
CCCCCCCL Competition.
I mean an certain car - certain colour - certain corner - certain location
 
I don't know if this is the right place to say this but i have an idea for a thread that includes every competitions and the most people who won it in a list
for example Champions league holders
R.Madrid 9 Titles
A.C Milan 7
Liverpool 5
....etc
so we can put for example
PMC Competition top 10 winners
(Blank) 5 times
(Blank) 4 times
...etc

and we can do it for every competition in a well designed frame
and also we can put the most winners in all competitions
It's an easy thing to do and it gives us enthusiasm and purpose to go and compete and try to win these competitions
I would do it if I knew how to operate Photoshop

Hey all,

Although a bit late in the announcement (again), I'm please to announce the third season of the Photomode Tournament, starting it's qualifying round on Monday the 6th of February. I also made some modifications to the first page, make sure to check it out.

I took the liberty of carefully scheduling the tournament as of the following:
  • February, 6th - Qualifying Round;
  • February, 13th - Qualifying Poll;
  • February, 16th - 1st Round;
  • February, 22nd - 1st Round Poll;
  • February, 24th - 2nd Round;
  • March, 1st - 2nd Round Poll;
  • March, 3rd - Semi-final Round;
  • March, 8th - Semi-final Poll;
  • March, 10th - Final/Bronze Round;
  • March, 15th - Final Poll.

Please note that dates may vary in no more than 5 days.

The tournament will have the same format as the first two seasons - a knock-out type of competition - with probably some minor rules alteration and no more than 16 entrants passing through the qualifying round, being it PMC or 2.0.

There may be some prizes, but not as big as the first two seasons, and if anyone wants to sponsor a prize, please, just send me a private message.


Again and as well as in the start of the first two seasons, I want to ask for some themes suggestions. Please make sure they are in the following format:

Cars: Any Level 0 and below 20000 Cr.
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes
Unique Restrictions: Must be cars that you would be able to buy at the very start of the game, at Level 0 and 20000 Cr.

Brief explanation about the theme Take a car that you see a family driving, something like the Mazda Altenza or Vectra but no performance saloons such as the M5 or IS-F.
Cars: Any 4 door family saloon, but not performance versions.
Locations: Any tarmac track
Phototravel (yes/no): yes
Unique Restrictions: car must have four doors

It's gonna be tough to decide whether to enter PMC or 2.0 this time. :P
 
What is PMC? Can I enter in this tournament or do I need to meet certain criteria?
 
The tournament has two sides that run the same rules as the normal competition week so PMC is unedited shots and 2.0 is edited. You compete against people on the same side as you for my crown on the PMC side and Revolutions on the 2.0 side :sly: Anyone can enter it on whichever side they choose :)
