What is PMC? Can I enter in this tournament or do I need to meet certain criteria?

PMC stants for Photomode Competition, but in 'external' competitions, it stands for the same set of rules the two main competitions run, that being PMC (rules used in the Photomode Competition) or 2.0 (rules used in the Photomode 2.0 Advanced Competition).

Everyone can enter the tournament, and everything will be explained once it's up and running on Monday, so stay tuned. ;)

For now, I'm just preparing people up and asking for some themes. And speaking of which, I've been searching through some unused themes, and I have about 30 and something themes, but keep them coming. :D

Yin Yang
For this one you'll need arcade 2 player. Pick 2 cars, either complete opposites or sister cars, have one black, one white, and shoot it. That simple

Unique Restrictions: Only 2 cars, 1 Has to be Black, 1 has to be White.

Theme Name: Standard vs. Premium
Brief explanation: Shot must include two cars of the same model, one standard, the other premium. For example, a standard S2000 and a premium S2000. Trim and year do not matter, just same make and model.
Cars: Any that have a standard as well as premium variant
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): No
Unique Restrictions: See cars, must have only two in the shot.
 
Sadly, I can't enter. :indiff: My parents kept my GT5. But, I can still give a theme.

Theme: Scary Monsters vs. Nice Sprites
Cars: Either a supercar or a hot hatch
Photo Travel: No
Unique Restrictions: If your shot has more than one car, you must have to choose one category. (i.e. Ferrari 458 vs Nissan GT-R, Volkswagen Golf R vs RenaultSport Megane)
 
Breakn' A Sweat
Show extremely tight and intense racing wether it's side by side, avoiding a crash or fighting with another driver.
Cars: Any
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): No
Unique Restrictions: Must show racing intensity.

Wayfaring Stranger
Show emptyness, just your car and as much barren landscape as you possibly can.
Cars: Street Cars
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes
Unique Restrictions: Bassically try to get as much of a empty scene as possible.

Color Storm
Show multiple cars using the selective color filter.
Cars: Any
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): No
Unique Restrictions: Must be atleast 2 cars and the Selective color filter.

In Kyoto with Sirah
Take your coolest, stanced, slammed, baddest ride and show it off at Kyoto Gion or Shore-in
Cars: Street cars, w/ kits and rims and lowered.
Locations: Kyoto Gion and Kyoto Shore In only.
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes
Unique Restrictions: Must be a lowered, custom street car at the Kyoto locations

Destroy Them with Lazers
Pew Pew! High Beam time! Find a way to get your best shot using a car's high beam lights.
Cars: Any
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes
Unique Restrictions: High Beam lights must be on

20% Cooler
Take 2 same model cars, and shoot them both. Have one be stock and the other fully tuned with new rims, kit and exhaust.
Cars: Any street cars
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): No
Unique Restrictions: Must be same model car, one tuned, one stock.

Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
Take any Mustang in the game and make it dark and mysterious, show only the shilloutte or highlighted body lines that show off the distinct Mustang designs.

Unique Restrictions: Must be Ford Mustang, and be dark, showing only shillouttes or highlighted body lines (e.g. using Eiger Norwand Tunnel for reflections)

Luna & Celestia
Day vs. Night at the time change tracks, a dark car for Luna, a bright car for Celestia.
Cars: Any
Locations: Any Time change Tracks.
Phototravel (yes/no): No
Unique Restrictions: See above.

Robots FTW
Show case your favorite concept car.
Cars: Any concept car
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes
Unique Restrictions: Must be a concept car

Derezzed
Showcase the horrible textures within GT5. The muddy asphalt, or the pixelated scenery.
Cars: None

Meanwhile, In the Future
Pick a car that has 2 year variations and shoot them together (e.g. 67 camaro & 2010, 70 challenger & 2010, ect)

Kill The Noise
Bassically, just sit your car at a track :lol: Use any race track as your Phototravel location

im new to this concept, how does one qualify (or attempt to...) for such an event?

Theme: Let us go to camelot! *it's only a model...* (any monty python fans...?)
Desc: Shot must use the miniature lens and look like a iddy-biddy set of cars racing around the track.
Loc: Any
Photo travel: Hmm... might work...?
Unique: Must use Miniature filter.

Theme: You better promise me i'll be back in tiiiiiime!
Desc: In a field of cars nothing is more idiotic than going the wrong way. Show us a shot with a gooseberry going arse-about-face 'round the track

Unique: More than 2 cars, one of which has to be going the other direction.

Theme: Gone in 60 seconds
Desc: There have been two of these epic films made, one in 1974 and one in a year that escapes me (newer :lol:), take Eleanor (Mach 1 Mustang or Shelby GT350*) out and tear up a city course like you're on the run!

Travel: no
Unique: Must be either Mach 1 Mustang or Shelby GT350 on a city course. Preferably painted in the correct colours (Yellow for Mach 1 and Silver for the GT350).

Don't worry, it's really simple. Just search for the GT5 Photomode Tournament season 01 and 02 to get a glimpse of how the competition runs.
The qualifier thread for season 03 will be open tomorrow and from there, just read the rules on how to enter.

Okey Doke, as I said, no idea what it'll be yet, have to sift through my garage to find a hidden gem. (or perhaps a booby prize for last...? *MUHUhahahaha*)
 
Its been too long since I was last in here, a tournament is something fun though, I've made it through the qualifying round the last 2 times.
 
Can't wait to see the qualifier theme. I'm going to step up my game this time - if possible ;)
 
I'm looking forward do this, hopefully I'll make it to the final this time, but we all know that is very hard.

Here are a few theme suggestions:

Classics
Show your favorite classic car.
Cars: Any.
Locations: Any.
Phototravel (yes/no): Yes.
Unique Restrictions: Car must be model year 1980 or older and in stock condition.

Racing pack
Take a photo of racing action between 6 cars or more.
Cars: Any.
Locations: Any.
Phototravel (yes/no): No.
Unique Restrictions: Cars must be in movement. At least 6 cars must beseen in the picture.

Be the underdog
Race head to head against cars of a superior class.
Cars: Only road cars.
Locations: Any.
Phototravel (yes/no): No.
Unique Restrictions: Cars must be in movement.

Speed
Show the sense of speed of your fast race cars.
Cars: Only race cars.
Locations: Only real world locations.
Phototravel (yes/no): No.
Unique Restrictions: Only one car on the picture.
 
Great themes!!! :eek: Keep them coming.

Qualifying round will be up probably in some minutes/hours. The theme is a little tricky, easy to get confused, but if everyone reads carefully, things will run great. :D

Description: Any Car, Any Place, but it's gotta be standard and using the partial colour filter. I rarely get a good picture with the partial colour filter, so show me the potential of this hard to use filter!

Description: Traffic is a part of life. Let's see those moments when you just can't pass.
Cars: Any street legal cars
Location: Any road (Painted lines)
Photo Travel: No
Unique Restrictions: Must have at-least 2 cars. Must look like traffic and not racing.

Don't know if someone has posted this idea already but here it is:

Theme: Organ Donor
Description: Shoot 2 or more cars (in action/still, or combo of both) that all contain a similar crucial "organ" such as the engine. It doesn't necessarily have to be a strong copy (like the almost direct copy of the CLK-GTR engine into the Zonda R); it cane be something like a similar bloodline type thing (think Ferrari engines in Alfa 8c and Maserati).

Location: Any
Photo travel: No

Edit: oops...just realized how similar to secret santa week 34....I will think of something else later.
 
Theme: Odd One Out
Description: Do you find it weird to show up at a French championship in a Buggatti only to find a bunch of old Peugeots? The single player races always end up having a car that doesn't belong.
Cars: Any two or more different cars.
Location: Anywhere
Photo Travel: No
Unique Restrictions: Must have at-least 3 vehicles. One must stand out as very different.

Theme: Chicago and The Follow-through
Description: When a track crosses over itself you have to use skill and luck to squeeze through alive. Even so, collisions are inevitable.
Cars: Any
Location: Top Gear Test Track (Middle section)
Unique Restrictions: Cars must either be involved in a crash or a near miss.

Theme: The Trail Blazer
Description: Some people like to take their own path. Others just have no sense of direction. Show a driver doing their own thing.
Cars: Any
Location: Any
Unique Restrictions: The main car has to be off-track or going the wrong way.
