That's why I'm asking, could have serious repercussions there

I'll reserve judgement until I've had a go myself in a couple of hours but just wanted to canvass opinion from guys here who I know would be reliable

DEAR LORD they've changed the "3rd person" camera!! It now moves extremely weird; it moves with the car...!!

That's interesting, at least. Got to love GT5; they have great changes, and some other changes that leave you like "Huh?". All in all, I'm happy.

Now you speak of sounds... I was driving the Cobra now, doing the seasonal; and I haven't driven it forever, so I couldn't compare. But once I try the Supra again, I'll tell you.

Double posting, because I'm worth it.

Sounds do not feel different to me. Like, at all.

As for laptimes and stuff; I went to Spa with the Supra, where I felt quite comfortable, and in my second lap (tyre wear on) I clocked a 2:15.5. My qualifying time was 2:15.2 so I don't really think the cars are slower. People may be slower because they're not yet used to the new camera, in my opinion (I don't dislike it, but why not let us choose instead of removing the old one?).

I think I noticed the RH tyres wearing faster, though, but again that might have been my imagination so do not take my word on this.

Stop watching adverts GV stupid womens shampoo ad quoting  :sly:.

Ive yet to get my crappy net to be able to update the game if waited 3 hours twice for it to give me an error when it tried to intall it :banghead:.

:dopey:

I'm thinking PD may have to revert back to the old camera, or add it as an extra option. I've been reading some posts and people are reporting feeling sick (literally) because of it. I guess I'll have to start getting used to it anyway.

LOL, I have to try this! Not my normal view though so may not notice anything

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm feeling sick, but it just doesn't give me the same feeling. I think it's a matter of practice and getting used to it, though. At least in my case.

Lol is the 3rd person view the cockpit view? Or hood view if its the hood view I may need to wait a little before driving as I just filled up on soup and bread and im ready to burst, I dont want to repaint my floor .

Edit: ARRRG it just failed to update AGAIN FFS!

Oh ok ill see if a ever get this bloody update done trying a 4th time! :grumpy:.

I'm starting to get used to the lateral movement. But the way it moves up and down is unbearable!!

I've read a couple of reports that people are running slower times (+ 1sec) than they were pre-update on like for like tyres.

Can anyone here who has had the opportunity to run comment on this??

I haven't tried 2.02 yet so I can't personally comment on the topic but NEPALII already posted some feedback a few posts before yours:

Don't take my words for granted, but I am slower all of a sudden. The Miatas I could run low 33s at Laguna, only managed high 34s now. Lexus GT500, had flat 21s, now low 22s. The cars seem to have more grip though...

It could just be me going insane as its almost 3AM and Im tired as hell. Will find out later when I wake up if something has drastically changed.

I guess it's time to buck up and drive from a real man's POV (cockpit). :)

don't use third person view like you're playing cruzin usa or something... problem solved. :P

Third person view is my view... Looks like I just gotta deal with it. Maybe they will give the option to turn off the dynamic camera.

As for laptimes, I have gotten closer to my previous times. It seems that the car has more grip but you need to push it more to have quick times. Tbh, I like it! :) It could be the new camera giving me this feeling.

If you play with cockpit view, you have zero visibility on the sides (unless you have a three-screen setup, and I don't), which can cause crashes. I've seen enough aggressive moves to know it would not end well.

I already play with cockpit view when I play on my own, just not when I'm racing on-line!

And yes, I know you can press buttons to check your sides, but on 3rd person view I can still see everything without having to press anything. I can focus more on my racing :)

Can confirm no change to hard tyres (matched my nurburgring GP/F quali time despite having the flu)

Can also confirm that, as suspected, a soft will only last you 5 laps on nurburgring GP/F now

The soft is like a good old fashioned qualifying tyre now

Cockpit view is cockpit view. Hood view is hood view. Chase cam is the proper term for what people are calling "3rd person view".
I like it better then before (Chase cam is the only changed one) but I could never use it for precision driving. Never could really.

Side view buttons. ;)
I don't use cockpit view though, it feels like you're having a seizure with cockpit view in GT5.:yuck: My eyes must work better then someone at PD's.

Anyways, I cranked out a 21.1 last night at Laguna in a stock YMS GTR pretty easily(second timed lap in it), I don't think hard tires tire wear changed at all, nor lap times.

The cockpits in GT5 are terrible. I only use them on PC sims. But the tried and tested 'driver cam' is better than it's ever been. Only thing missing is drawing the hood on the bottom of the screen so you can see the corners of the car. (the fact that the roof-cam doesn't bob with suspension the way the driver-cam does is creepy so it keeps me from using it).

Always baffles me that people can wrap their head around driving a car from the outside of it. Messing around in GTA with a PS3 controller is one thing... but driving a simulator with a wheel and pedals from helicopter cam is just bonkers. I've never been able to understand why people saddle themselves with that extra layer of "wtf?" inserted into their simulator.
But I like getting things as close to reality as plausible so I can use my 15 years muscle memory operating real cars to my advantage.

Ayrton Senna used to say that, in his best lap in a qualifying in Monaco, he was able to see himself from the outside, seeing the car and everything :dopey: .

I see where you're coming from, and to be honest, in GT PSP I got used to driving in bumper cam and roof-cam, but racing online feels "dangerous" to me if it's not with chase cam. I used to race with a friend of mine a lot, and he ALWAYS messed up when I was overtaking him; he used to bump me out of the track a lot. Turns out he was using cockpit cam, and he never knew where I was (you can't expect a driver to keep using side view buttons at every breaking point). So I figured the best thing is racing with chase cam.

(Random fact; I also use cockpit cam in PC sims; I used to race A LOT on rFactor and my friends were genuinely amazed at my control with that cam. I thought it was perfect and they said you can't see anything...)

I may love realism, but if that realism is going to cause trouble to others, I have to sacrifice it.

Bumper cam has a rearview though, chase cam does not.
If hood cam had a rearview, I could and would use it, the extra sound is intoxicating.

I use hood cam at Sarthe, especially at night. Helps a little, maybe next time I'll try brightness and EV to help.

I use hood/roof view, its allways been my favorite view as you can sorta see if someone is alongside and slightly ahead (The roof view you can see if someone is not fully alongside imo) and im quite used to using the buttons the see where everything is ;). Also some cockpits are nice, the best I found was the Integra RM (Though for proper racing I used hood view).
