Kevin, it's now your serve. I have to do something about T1, but T2 is improving:

Fair enough, here you go. ;)

1:00.657
50.082

Made tuning tweaks shown in red above. Car is a little looser, but still controllable.

Picked up about as much on the lap as I did on the board.

Man I'm way off pace.

Not even going to post yet.

Got about an hour in tonight. Got work tomorrow but I'll put some more time in.

Justin

You're faster than me! I don't even own the car yet! :dopey: Usually takes me a good 2hrs over 2 or 3 sessions before I get fast enough to post some splits. 👍

EDIT: Just saw in the other thread that you submitted your qualifier times, congrats. Hopefully we'll get you placed in a division in the next few weeks. Feel free to post splits in here when you get clean ones you are happy with, but those won't get slurped up in the wrs.gtplanet.net leaderboard until you're official.

Question to the stewards: At the top of the esses the East course dives off to the right and is delineated by a white line. Is it considered off track if I put 3+ wheels over that white line on what is the outside of the corner I'm trying to take? It would fall into the 'tarmac and red and white rumbles are track', but I'm looking for clarification as it's over a white line. Will try and post a pic to demonstrate.

Here's the pic

EDIT: Nevermind...

Been under a minute to T1 once and run several .1's but not on this lap. Made it all up with a PB in T2, and a reasonable T3 for 0.2 up at the line. Excel says I can do a high 1:49 to T2 and that I need to find 0.4 on the lap. Will have to wait for another day though :indiff:

Race on

Had a quick run this morning, but was on the wrong account, so I can't post splits.

Really like your tune EDK, especially the gear ratios cheers. I thought it was undriveable at first but then realised id been switched back to comfort softs lol. Not sure if this will be faster but i usually run higher front camber. I think around 2.7.

Will have an official run tonight and post splits.

Cheers

Thoroughly miserable week for me, must be a combination of DS3 and cockpit view - with all that rain I really struggle with turn in.

Modified my tuning a little and found running with toe at -.75 and -.25 really helps with the cars mid corner stability.

Main problem for me is the sheer unpredictability of the thing, from one corner to the next it seems to change it's mind, I love running this track in the wet but not with this car!

Might have another run tomorrow but won't be spending long on this one.

Five laps before bed and managed to go a little faster in T2 and a PB in T3 for another .2 at the line

Nice to see you guys back in here, BTW.

Did not know about your shoulder. You back to golf yet, or do you have to wait a bit longer?

Hi Kev 👍

Haven't swung a club since July... and I only managed 3 holes then before having to give up. Probably another 2-3 months before I'll be able to start some gentle range work... certainly won't be able to thrash it like I used to for a good while

I also normally run higher camber settings, on both ends of the car. When setting this car up, I found the responsiveness the higher settings creates has a tendency to make the car unstable at turn in. Higher in the front, and the front will try to outrun the back at turn in. Higher in the back, and you'll have a greater tendency to spin in the high speed stuff. If you can set it higher and make it work, go for it. 👍

First 5 laps brought me this:

1'01.090
50.965

I hope I can give it another go until Saturday when I will have lots of time.
Everything was Kevin's on my car - Thanks

EDIT: 2 Laps later: Almost missed the hairpin at the sector 2 :(

Sorry I did not reply this morning.

I have a hard time understanding how that line could gain time. That area has never been OB, I don't plan to start now.

Way to set the bar for D2 BTW. Seeing that gap between us and the D1 guys, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone came in with something like you did. My issue is that I'll only have 2 more sessions at this, so no matter what I end up with, I'm sure everyone will come in and smash it this weekend.

I assume you're using something like my tune, except with a bunch of negative rear toe and all the DF taken out of the back so it drives like a crazy car? :sly:

T1: 59.482
T2: 49.312

Saw a .2 T1 so hope I can get that back later.

T1: 59.252
T2: 49.306
Only took me one lap.:dopey:

No problem Kev and thanks for the feedback. As it turned out I'm now half a second faster over the lap than I was then, but despite that line the sector was still a 1:00.18x. I normally run a wide line around that corner (just not that wide), and had I taken it properly, I think it would have been a 59.9 instead.

Thanks - not sure how much more time I'm going to get either as we have (another) open house this Saturday. To be honest, most of the time is in turn 1 and 2 for the first sector, so I wouldn't be surprised if the top half od D2 are all under one minute by the end of the week, you included.

 yes I do have a tendency to do that don't I, but on this occasion, I'm running your set-up pretty much how you had it. I did try your earlier one as well, but it handled like a fork-lift truck :sly:. Only later did I realise that the game kept swapping me onto Comfort Soft tyres :scared: Seems that unless you pick the right tyres when you first go to a track, the car will always default back everytime you come out to save a replay (seem to remember Viper reporting the same effect last week).

Anyway, here's what I'm running with now. Pretty much the same as you (thanks BTW 👍) but went down one click on rear dampers and softened up the diff a little as I just couldn't get out of Casio without doing a 720 pirouette  My brake bias is a little different, as is third gear I think, otherwise is an EDK Flyer, as Lefty would say.

@Wes - crazy times mate

Small improvement.

Finally managed to get around Dunlop over 80mph without losing it and then nearly threw the lap away braking late into Casio so I lost a bit of time there.

Thanks Joao, are you running this week? When I saw you posted I was preparing for the worst :nervous::sly:

Tip: when running yesterday, I found that you had to keep clear of the inside curbs otherwise it would throw the car sideways, but that you could take liberties with outside curbs in most corners. Oh, and Casio is a 🤬 lottery :scared:

Got a few laps in:

T1 1'01.256
T2 50.365

I see what you mean EDK about the higher camber - if I miss the braking point and turn in a little harder to compensate its very unforgiving. Been spinning off too much so gone back to your original settings, cheers.

Still at 203hp so hopefully will find a bit more time on the lap over the week.

Cheers

New splits with Jon's tweak to Kevin's setup. Much improved times and a lot easier to get through the s-curves, but my final chicane is a disaster with this setup. I have to relearn how to approach that turn as it ate up every gain from the first two sectors.

1'00.356
49.960

Nice splits Tim - like a said, Casio is a 🤬 lottery, but as long as you can make it through in one piece the benefits are there to be had ont he rest of the track. My first runs were with a much softer set up (as one might logically expect to find on a lightweight car in the rain) and whilst it was great through the chicane, the roll-oversteer made it a lot more tricky in sector one.

I might play around with softening it up a little more, but I'm pretty happy with what Kev has delivered for us :sly: In theory, I can get well into the 1'49's to T2 with the car as it is based on the individual sectors I'm seeing, so I think that if I get any more seat time, I'll just keep pounding around in the hope that I might be able to do a Chuk!

I got lucky on this one. Manage to stay on the rumbles barely in casio and I love this lap:

1'00.277
49.753

I made one or two minor mistakes, but this was a keeper. Personal bests in first two sectors and within a tenth of my best in sector 3. Can we stop this competition now? :sly:

NO WE CAN'T  Very nice Tim. Let's hope we've encouraged some others in D2 to come out to play as the leaderboard is looking a bit thin at the moment.

Now go and do something else instead will you please so you don't go any faster...

Gunna give it another go here

Working with edk's first tune. Well see how I run!

Only going to get about an hour in.

Justin

Starting to get the car balanced entire way through most corners.

1'01.121
49.981

Ok

1:03.005
51.798

Struggling through the right hander before the end of t1

Going to tune a little and see where it goes from there

Justin.

Ok took edk's tune an tweaked the diff and brakes a little.

Some angry laps later....

1:01.927
51.484

If only I had a wheel. I could slim those down a few more tenths.

That's it for me tonight. Tomorrow I'm off in the morning. I'll give another go then.

Justin.

Here are my updated splits tonight. Seen better at both splits, and gave a little away in T3 as well. Have quite a bit left in the lap, if I can string it together.

1:00.280
50.016

We can stop this after tomorrow night, OK? Deal? :sly:
