The Photomode Tournament Discussion Thread: Season 6 (2.0)

Hey all,

I'm please to announce the forth season of the Photomode Tournament, starting it's qualifying round on Monday the 4th of June.

I didn't scheduled this tournament, but it will have it's end between the 15th and the 22nd of July.

The tournament will have the same format as the other ones - a knock-out type of competition - with probably some minor rules alteration and no more than 16 (32 if there are more than 34 entries for each side) entrants passing through the qualifying round, being it PMC or 2.0.

There may be some prizes, like the last tournament, I will leave to anyone who want to sponsor any prize, but please, make sure you send me a private message regarding it.

As for now, you know the drill, write in this thread any theme you want to be featured in the tournament. Make sure you follow the format bellow and some common sense :P. Make sure you read first post for themes already used in past tournaments.

Theme Name: Nascar's Finest
Brief Explanation: XXX - take a photo of Tony Stewart's #14 Chevy while YYY - take a photo of Carl Edwards' #99 Ford
Cars: 2011 Tony Stewart #14 & 2011 Carl Edwards #99
Locations: Daytona oval, Indianapolis oval, SSRX
Phototravel: Indianapolis Pit Stop only
Unique Restrictions: No cars beside the assigned one can be in the shot.

Theme Name: Hammond's cars
Brief Explanation: Show us a photo of one of Richard Hammond's cars (must be in GT5)
Cars: Jaguar XKE, Dodge Charger, new Fiat 500, Lamborghini Gallardo.

Unique Restrictions: none.

I may have missed out on a few of Hammond's cars that are in GT5, just let me know.
 
Theme Name: The War In Europe
Brief Explanation: A fight of classics american and english cars against german and italian. Each shot should contain 2 cars an american or english classic racing a german or italian car.
Cars: 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's american, english, german and italian cars.
Locations: European world tracks
Phototravel: No
Unique Restrictions: As above

Just something i think could get amazing results
Probably best it being a 2.0 theme.

50 years of the A110

First produced in 1962, the Renault-Alpine A110 was an absolutely beast on the rally course. Help celebrate 50 years of it!

Brief Explanation: Show any motion situation and shoot it using Panning Mode 1.

Theme: A Different Skyline
Brief Explanation: Since 2002, Nissan had dropped the Skyline's sportiness and focused on a premium sedan/coupe market. Show that the new Skyline hasn't lost its edge! And, show it in its natural habitat, the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Cars: Nissan Skyline Sedan 350GT-8 '02, Nissan Skyline Coupe 350GT '03, Nissan Skyline Sedan 350GT Type SP '06, Nissan Skyline Coupe 370GT Type SP '07

Theme: As Gold as Stephano
Brief Explanation: Just show your gold-painted cars. It could be the Gold Chrome paint or any gold metallic paint.

Brief explanation about the theme: The new 86 is the first sports car from Toyota since the Celica stopped production in 2006. Let's celebrate the birth of this sports cars by blessing it with Toyota sports cars of the past.
Cars:86 GT '12 plus one other road going Toyota/Lexus 2 door.
Locations: Any
Phototravel (yes/no): NO
Unique Restrictions: Two car shot, both cars must not have any external modifications (including ride height)

Theme Name: David versus Goliath
Brief explanation about the theme: Show that K cars (K=Kei=Light cars in Japanese) can put up a stiff competition with bigger cars
Cars: One K-Car/Mini Cooper 1.3i '98/Any 60's Fiat 500 and at least one that is not any of them.
Locations:Any

Unique Restrictions: At least two cars.

Theme Name: Jinba-Ittai
Brief explanation about the theme: The current MX-5 were advertised as Jinba-Ittai (Japanese for man-horse as one), and the 86 GT has the configuration similar to the MX-5, is the 86 also Jinba-Ittai? Find out through your camera lens.
Cars: Mazda Roadster '07 (NC) or Toyota 86 GT '12.

I can try, but since all themes are randomly matched, we never know. ;)

Also, I've just updated the first post with the season 04. Keep submitting themes.

Take a picture of any animal you can find in GT5. The Mountain ape, jenkins, sheeps, whatever the game offers. And there are more than enough :D

And instead of doing something against it, Kaz and PD implement more Hybrid cars instead. Awesome PD, really awesome.
Now with that fact, I want you to take a photo of a car without real engine sounds. Any electric or hybrid car will do it.

No other cars, expect cars with no real sound!

Brief Explanation: Show the evolution of America's Corvette

Brief: The Elise handling really pissed me off when I drive it. Take out your anger and crush that Elise completely :cool:

Regarding suggestions, I think it's a very interesting idea to combine the entries into one big poll. Even though we keep the PMC and 2.0 separate in the weekly comps, the Tournament itself is an event of its own.

I've noticed that there's a big difference between shooting a theme and then voting for the pics in terms of interpretation. It would help that the theme description is also present in the poll. Or maybe the themes have just become a little too complicated?
