F.I.T.T. Rally and Street Tuner Challenge by MCH

I have an extra one. Sending one car to jtqmopar today. Will send tomorrow. Correction, I should be able to send after game reset tonight.

JTQMopar - your Subaru has been sent. Enjoy.

I have been gathering all of the cars for this shootout for the past couple of months. I have extras of alot of them. Don't be affraid to ask.

You added me alright, and I edited my post (with bold, hoping you'd see it) that I already bought one, thanks though.

If I get to 18 game days and have the ST205 in UCD (gt5cars), I'll send it to Jackthalad, he's already in my friends I'm going to bed, if I get it tomorrow, and you haven't sent one, I will.

Okay just tested a street car I'm going to call "Flying Bacon" from now on.

Heaviest car I've tested so far by quite a bit, with fairly poor weight distribution on a car I'd never tuned or driven before. Expected it to be a slow understeering pig. Instead with just my rough test tune on it the porker was several tenths faster through the first sector than any others I've tested, and not only managed my third fastest lap to date but also managed to real off a half dozen more laps all within a couple hundredths of that time. So as they say...when pigs fly...well this is some seriously tasty thick cut bacon that knows how to fly!::lol:

One more week until the tuner deadline. Some of the usual FITT tuners haven't posted in this thread yet. Praniao is chasing fish. Anyone else working on rally cars this week?

I am becoming a better rally driver during this challenge. I never really enjoyed rally in GT5. What a difference in driving a good tune and driving the stock tune.

I didn't have much time for more rally tuning tonight. Just not enough patience to get into a groove and tune. So, I took out a street car and just goofed around. I was having too much fun making the spectators duck on the Eiger short track.

That is why I said I may not be in as a tuner, but I will test. I may be home in about 5 days, so I may be able to still throw something together, but don't count on it :grumpy:.

Shootout is shaping up well, and I'm sure it'll be fun :dopey:

Question - Should I remove the rule about all tuners must test? The intent was to ensure that we get more than three test drivers. Right now we have seven confirmed tuners and ten confirmed test drivers. I truly did not expect that to happen.

Some of the usual FITT tuners are currently missing in action (Onboy, Roj, CSLACR, tris_73, C-ZETA, ACSR421). Just want to make sure that we haven't frightened people away with the tuner/tester rule?

Why are the missing in action, missing?
1. Tuners must test
2. It's just a busy summer, man
3. I just hate rally cars
4. I am working on my tune and will sign up at the last minute
5. I finally hit puberty and noticed that girls are more fun to play with than GT5 (ok, #5 is really only about one specific FITT tuner)
6. MCH is just a royal prick so I hate him

With five days left to the tuning deadline, I think I have settled on my car entries. I love my Rally tune for a new WRC car, but the street car is not great. On the other hand, I have a really good street car tune and an almost as fast, but not nearly as fun to drive older rally car. I think I am going old school eary 2000's?

Early 2000s is old school now? My '86 5 series is weeping in the garage! ...or would be if it was anything but a large, rusty, smelly, leaky paperweight.....

I have gotten a 2:07.xx on G Trail Reverse, don't know if that's good or not.

At Eiger I think I had a 1:11.xx or something can't quite remember that one.

Sooooo...., when I get home, what kind of times am I shooting for if I can get a tune in? :nervous:

On G Trail Reverse my rally cars are now getting under 2:05. I haven't spent as much time with the tarmac short track so I am still up around 1:14 area. Jack's 1:11 is a great time.

🤬 you, Jack!! ;)

I'm knocking out 1:12s and 2:03s. Running Fwd on the short course, so...

If anyone could send a Focus ST170 '03 to me, broken in, I'd be really grateful. However, obtaining the cars doesn't necessarily mean I'm entering, really struggling for time recently. :(

Would we get more tuners if we gave another week to tune? Technically, the previous FITT challenge hasn't ended. I am fine with one more week to tune if it will allow more participation.

I dunno about the others but it may (or may not...) help for me. Thing is, I'm a pianist and I have concerts coming up, therefore practice > GT5, unfortunately. We shall see, there's no problem with me potentially pulling out last minute is there? Let me know if there is.

No. Life is more important than GT5.

I am so surprised with the tuner numbers. I thought that it would be a struggle on the other end with testers. We have the opposite.

It might be the rally portion that is scaring folks off. As you've said rally is an afterthought in GT5 and hasn't been tackled by many tuners. If anyone is thinking and not sure I'd throw out that its probably tough to tune anything worse than stock on dirt. :D

That said, if the deadline does get extended I may be able to get something together. I already have some pairs so that should help. The FITT schedule is busy but I guess I'll just be busy too. :sly:

Sent.

I haven't found it too hard to get cars running on dirt. Making them run fast and steady is another thing..!!

I'm sure it's just down to it being the holiday season...

Holiday season to me means something completely different. :embarrassed: Silly English to English translations.

Ran the tester assessment last night and remembered why I hate driving rally cars in GT5. What a miserable experience.... :yuck:

Wait until you drive a tuned Rally Car. I hate a stock rally car, but I am now in love with two of my rally tunes.

I don't think that PD did much additional programming for the rally cars. I think they just made everything have less grip. The same tuning principals used on tarmac seem to be working well on dirt.

Hi tuners, I haven't received friend requests from:
Motor City Hami
NEWDRIVER2
Jackthalad
XDesperado67
Trackripper123
jtqmopar
(what with online racing I have to purge my friends list, so unfortunately some people will have to "re-kindle" our friendship since the last shootout)

It might be the rally portion that is scaring folks off.
This is my theory, too. Folks are scared off by the whole rally thing. But we've got some great tuners here, so it's gonna be a blast regardless.
