I love this car, I love what it represents and stands for. Even if it meant the ultimate demise of my beloved Escort. I had expectations.
Largely those expectations were met. There's only one fault with this car that I've found. 5th gear. Once 5th gear kicks in, the arse end of this car develops its own mind..!! I'm not sure what it is, but as soon as 5th is
engaged, the car will want to oversteer on the power, almost regardless of where the front tyres are pointed. This alone is the reason this car hasn't posted a better time. 5th gear is important, because when you're driving auto and on a hot one, you'll select 5th going into turn 13, turn 6 and in the bottom of the essesses leading into 3.
If I didn't have to lift, or take other measures to control this, then I'd expect to see my laptimes tumble...

The numbers speak for themselves. I worked long and hard, putting in many laps to reach a 2:01 in my car. I did it in this car inside 4 laps, and would have done it on lap 3, if not for a nudge going through turn 2.
Excluding MCH and Trackripper, as I've not tested theirs at the time of writing this, DigiB is probably the only one of us to have understood gearing. The car has 6 gears, but only uses 4. 5th and 6th are superfluous. I'm :censored:ing annoyed with myself, because I thought about doing it.
Seriously well done, Sir...

Sorry about the time, I left plenty of time out there. Firstly, congratulations on making this car drivable. And that's the highest plaudit I can give this car. Someone with better driving skills, a wheel and a manual shifter will discover an epic car. I could sense it, I got a sniff every now and then, but with limited skills and track time, I just couldn't unleash the beast.
Biggest problem for me was not being able to short shift, being a weak willed auto driver. Sorry fella...

Technically the most adept car I've driven, with only one left to test. I love the way the car likes to pull itself straight, hugely enjoyable. Felt like I should have posted a faster time. On my fastest lap, I nudged the fence through 2, again, which will have cost me 0.5 sec.
The only car so far, with maybe the exception of DigiB's Toyota, that I could drive flat out, all the way up the hill, every single time. This is a great ride, thank you...

This was a brave attempt, with what looks like a tricky car. Initially I thought the gearing was completely wrong, and in the slower sections, it does spend a lot of time on the rev limiter before shifting up (so I expect there's a lot of wheelspin). It didn't feel like the gearbox was going to be long enough as I attacked the hill for the first time. Once I neared the top of the hill, I realised that the final gear was just right. The car really starts to run out of power by then..!!
I could easily have shaved another 2, maybe 3 seconds off this time, but the car does suffer from snap-oversteer. Sometimes it's difficult to provoke rotation, in the slower sections, and in the faster section the car can snap round quicker than you can control it. Feathering the throttle and liberal doses of the e-brake helped. I'd need another 5 laps to be sure of shaving that extra time off though.
Well done sir, a brave effort 👍

Well, it didn't feel fast, but the times don't lie. 3rd on the table, with just my own car to run. My only really critisism is that the car bogs down too often on corner exit, manual shifters will overcome this, but auto shifters like me
can find themselves in too high a gear for fast exiting. It's testament to the car's build that I could carry enough speed through turn 16 to hold onto 3rd, however this did mean that the revs dipped and precious momentum was lost.
With the greatest of respect to Ripper, I was surprised to see it top Hami's Impreza by a tenth and a bit, sort the gears and improve weight transfer on corner exit and you could be tugging on xDee and DigiB's coat tails. The pressure is now on for me, I've going to have to put in a flying lap in my own car...

I'm glad you choose this car combo. I love them both. This rally version is hugely competent, loads of grip and plenty of beans. If anything, this car has a little too much rear grip and proves a little hard to rotate at slower speeds.
I set my fastest time of lap 2, proving how easy the car is to drive. I was 0.9 up on lap 5, before I clipped the fence on the left hander before turn 3 and ironically, lost the rear and my line for turn 3. I was clean through 2 and 1 and only crossed the line 0.1 behind my ghost, so it's entirely possible I could have been headed for the 2:01 bracket.
Well done, Sir...

Savagely disappointed to not make it into the 1:13s. I would have made it too, had I not run a perfect 3rd sector on my second lap. I could easily beat that ghost through the first two sectors, but couldn't quite capitalise on that advantage over the final sector.
I had to go and check the tyres and PP, well done, sir, well done...

Just as compliant and easy to drive as its rally counterpart. I could probably have found more time, but I got into a bit of a jam on lap 3 and invalidated lap 4 at the same time :/ Which in essence left me with just the last lap to set a fast time.
Should have been a 1:13, and for that I'm sorry. Thank you for taking the time to assemble these two pieces of automotive history

What a wonderful experience, thank you kindly for the opportunity of driving this car. Particularly at this venue. Surprisingly supple and easy to manoeuvre through the slower, twisty sections. No drama, no fuss, just brake, coast, wait for it, hit the hammer!!
Things aren't quite so sweet in the higher speed sections. I was able to set some blistering times on the first two sections, but the third inevitably caught me out. Careful throttle control will keep the rear under control, the slightest of lifts can be enough to keep things from going completely Pete Tong. However, as much fun as it is to have the rear skating away at speed, it's not the fastest way round the course.
I was on course to break into the 1:15s on my final lap, but I got a bit excited in the right/left after the tunnel and had to suffer the ignominy of watching my ghost disappear up the track in my rearview mirror
All that being said, it'll take something special from the others to beat the joy of driving this car. Thank you, once again...

Another fantastically adept car. Absolutely no fuss or drama whatsoever. Good under braking, turns easily and you can on the power really early. Consistent as hell, my times for laps 2, 3 and 4 were .644 .657 .673, only my out laps and the last one were outside the 1:13 category.
Bravo, Sir, two fantastic cars, give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back 👍

Another brave effort. There's much to enjoy about this car. Sounds good and goes well. Does suffer from corner exit oversteer is the slower sections and will spin from mid corner onwards in the faster sections. Care throttle control will get you through though.
I would expect with a few more laps, I could get this down into the 1:14s, which is on par with my Focus, so well done, Sir...

A nice ride, deceptively quick and sticking it to the 4WD boys in the process. This time is less than 100th slower than the fastest time I've posted in my own car, to date, so I've put myself right under the hammer now..!!
The only issue with this car is corner exit, again. Spends too long bouncing off the limiter, before shifting up and lights up the tyres a little too easily. Hardly seems to have effected laptime though. Please bear in mind, that I have 4 of these cars in my garage, 2 of them built for Shootouts and I really like driving FWD. I know, I'm odd like that.

Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac

This car's strengths are in the huge amounts of grip through the corners, particularly on corner exit. Your biggest gains will be made here, 5 more laps and I'd have easily done away with the 0.766 of a sec.
The weakness of this car is the brakes. You'll need to exercise caution under heavy braking, make sure you get the majority of it done in a straight line. Around the rest of the track, you're going to need to use the lightest of touches to keep this car from locking up. It's not horrific, as per above, the car has plenty of grip to dig you out of most situations, but it doesn't make for fast time trialling.
That being said, if you're one of those alien drivers, you'll set some devastating times with this. I'm sure it will prove a hard car to beat, deceptively quick and I was disappointed to see my allotted laps disappear as quick as they did...
