Oh...worst race ever. Lap 1, 2 and 3 running with damage (thanks to Dowlin, jammy and fuel, respectively) and got sick during lap 5 or 6 (can't remember) and when I came back, I found my PS3 shut down. This night cant get any better than this.

Great racing gents. After 4 laps, each sustaining near fatal damage I decided the best place for me was in the pits. I couldnt face another whole lap driving the car like a shopping trolley for 10 minutes, especially in the dark, so decided my input would be better by providing a running commentary of the race.

Thats not a problem ade, and I know it was a tough few laps, the thing with heavy damage is it is good for crashes (and to focus your driving at speed) but it can be bad when you tap another driver, sometimes the slightest of touches cause unintentional damage :ouch:

Tables are updated - I've had a quick check of the replay to clear up the incident with H_enry_T and the other incident with KingBestJr....

H_enry_T suffered from the missing driver syndrome (car blasting off into the wall) so he receives Disconnection points (50% of his placement points at disconnection as he was on lap 5 of 10)

We all suffered from some form of damage in the first few laps, but the racing incident that finished KingBestJr off was a collison with Jammy_Rex. I say racing incident as watching the replay, KingBestJr was just mega unlucky to be at that part of the circuit when Jammy_Rex lost control and was tank slapping all over the place and unfortunately ploughed into KingBestJr :(

All will be revealed in the highlights over the weekend.

No hard feelings.....as the race settled down, I quite enjoyed the flow (my NSX was handling great tonight!) and if there's one thing I do like, is a bit of last lap drama!!! 👍

Fuel running out of Fuel  Third in second finishing in third :ouch: due to a last lap spin and damage :ouch:

Back to the Championship next week for a fast one! HSR in glorious full sun!!! :D

I usually don't mind heavy damage, but Nordschleife + heavy just doesn't sit well with me.

Started off 9th and dashed up to 2nd by the first corner. Talk about a lightning start and luck braking through traffic. Followed Jimmy through the GP track and noticed i had a better pace. I just needed to find a place to get by. Unluckily I couldn't get by him on GP track. He then slipped off track and probably got damage at Hatzenbach, I tried to make my move coming out of Quiddlebach, but Jimmy spun again and I got my self a spin off track with light damage trying to avoid him. Carnage seemed to have halted everybody behind me and I managed to enter pits second after geordie (thanks to ade entering the wrong pits ^^) What followed where laps of me gaining 3tenths in the first half and geordie gaining 5 tenths on the second. Just before my planned stop after 5 laps on the tyres i spun out at Schwalbenschwantz, costing me 19secs on geordie but no big delay due to dmg. Geordie stepped up the pace a bit which I didn't quite want to follow, gaining about a second a lap since I knew he planned a second tyre stop. Enter lap 10. Just at the exit of the GP course my brother stepped in asking for Car keys. I got distracted just a sec and got heavy damage on my car including Engine, rear left and front right. It was a long way to the finish line and the car was randomly stepping out. My original 13sec behind geordie ended up being 2.xx min at the end, and a forced forfeit of second place to dowlin at Döttinger Höhe. :grumpy: Spending 9 laps on your own takes a hard toll on your concentration, it only takes a minor disturbance... Quote Dowlin: "I got Third and second" :sly:

The new tyre durability is nice for long races (5 instead of 3 laps on hards for N24), but it seems to kill a lot of strategy for shorter races. I don't know how to feel about that but adapting could be done through forced pit windows.

I know what you mean, I'll rethink this for S6, I just wanted to add something to make the 'Endurance' races feel different to the normal Champ races. I did think of leaving the damage to light but run a 2 hour race, only concern is this adds a greater risk of DC's!

For me it wasn't just the tyre improvements, but also the 'handling' for an online race, I don't think it was all down to my set-up changes....must be the new update too? The car just felt more comfortable to race in :D

As I tweaked the Club Races for this season (as I felt the vast amount of standard cars would allow for a nice mixed grid) I do also think what I did back in Season 3 worked too, so who knows what the Club Racing will look like in S6 :sly:

It's a bit harsh to blame us mate.... :indiff: We were all suffering with damage over the first few laps and struggling to deal with it... and looking at the replay you had a few "offs" of your own which you cant really put down to others.

I cant remember making any contact with you and I have had a quick scan of the replay so can you remind me please? On lap 2 I can confirm that you already had offside front damage before you took avoiding action when I was struggling to control my car.....

Probably best not to blame people without first checking the facts! 👍

Well I did really enjoy the first couple of laps! and I managed to lead for practically a whole lap and maybe a bit more!!!! 👍

But overall I think that the damage was just a bit too harsh and made the race more of an ordeal than a thrilling drive IMO...! just an unlucky clip with another car here, or a light touch of a barrier there and your car is rendered undrivable and most of the lap spent crawling to the pits...

Unfortunately I followed Ade off in sympathy on the 2nd lap after he went off and hit the barrier, and we crashed into each other, which completely knackered my NSX. Omnius took some nice avoiding action and managed to get past. Then, just having struggled round to the pits and getting the car repaired, again unfortunately I clipped the barrier on the inside of the 2nd corner after the start/finish straight (gutting after having crawled around for the previous lap and then damaging my car straight away), taking it a touch too tight, it was the slightest of knocks but damaged my car and sent me into the path of KingBestJr (sorry King, it was just a silly mistake that you got caught up in :( )

So that was basically it for me! but I did enjoy the first few laps... after that it was a lonely race for me, and my car seemed to be damaged and my steering shaking in my hands more than it being fit and healthy!!!! :nervous:

Anyway, look forward to racing again folks, when the damage is less severe! :)

I just watched the replay, and I'm guessing you can't since your PS3 shut down but, on the first corner Geordie braked a lot later than me and hit me in the rear which sent me skidding into your path which is where both your damage and mine came from. No ones fault here, just a racing incident in my opinion.

Great race tonight Omnius, I can't believe my luck  I thought I was in for a terrible race after the first 2 laps being about 1 minute and a half behind :scared:

The first coner incident damaged my rear wheels badly and then when I was losing control in the run up to the hairpin, KingBest had nowhere to go but right up the back of my car which gave us both more damage, including a crippled engine.By the end of the first lap I was in 10th, so i limped back to the pits and headed off again.

By the time I had caught up to the feild and passed the other stricken cars, I appeared in 4th chasing Omnius. I had picked up a small bit of damage and when Omnius went into the pits at the end of lap 4, I followed him in to, at the very least, have some fun. FuelmyFire passed us while we were getting new boots so when we came out, we tried to give chase, but in the end we kind of distracted each other

I think at the end of lap 6 or 7 I caught Fuel on the Really Long Straight and he had a BIG moment which nearly took the two of us out but he recovered to just stay in front of Omnius but I gained time on them both as Fuel pitted, leaving me and Omnius to fight over 3rd. Until Omnius had a moment. I beleive I was 25 seconds ahead of Fuel in 5th and Omnius was exactly between us.

Omnius made one or two other errors which cost him his place to Fuel, who was still 25 seconds behind me. So I decided to pit at the end of lap 8 as I wasn't sure if I had enough fuel left in the tank. As I exited the pits, Fuel flew down the straight and slipped past me in the first corner. So I tried to keep up with him on my new cold tyres and just managed to. I had intended on staying behind him until the final lap and pass him on the Really Long Straight but I soon found out that he was faster than me down their, even with slipstream. So I had to get it done early in the lap and pull away before the straight.

We started lap 10 and shortly before we entered the Nordeschlieffe (apologies if I spelt that wrong) section, he ran wide which allowed me to slip past and at the chicane straight after that, he missed his braking point and when onto the gravel. So I put the boot down and kept it there to make sure he couldn't catch up. This lap ended up being my fastest lap of the race.

So I came around to that Really Long Straight again  and noticed there was an arrow on my map moving very slowly just up the road from me. I made a little joke about praying it was Third, and guess what? IT WAS THIRD :dopey: I couldn't believe my luck. I shot past him on the straight and made my way through the final corners and crossed the line to claim an extremely unexpected 2nd place 👍

BTW Thanks for the quote Third ;)

EDIT: Wow, didn't think I wrote that much :scared: Also, I hope I didn't distract anyone with my talking. I realized I got a bit loud at points so apologies if I inadvertantly put someone off. 👍
EDIT2: Just checked, I'm 2nd in the Standings?! WOO!!!

Henry, if this is when I was behind you when you were damaged I never touched you. I made very sure of it.

Gutted at the speed I was doing (Averaging 9min laps with the 2 fastest being just before I made the stupid mistake of not enough fuel...) when I ruined my race in lap 1 and 2 with damage. I also got a little damage lap 6 with allowed the two behind to catch including a lucky escape into the last corner (Sorry Dowlin I tried to keep it as straight as I could).

All in all a fun race, I love the longer races we should do more!!

No problem mate, even if you had hit me I knew you couldn't do a lot to stop. No harm done anyway.

@jammy Frontside damage before that? Hmm, couldve been, it was too hard to return to the track after trying to avoid you.

@fuel, it was slight damage, but it killed the rest of the lap for me. Check rear left on that spot.

@dowlin, if thats the case, then you are forgiven.

Though I like longer races like this, tracks over 10km long do NOT go well with Heavy damage. Sorry to accuse people like that though, that post was made when I was fuming because of the PS3 powering itself off.

Remember we've got 2 Endurances at the end of the series, Spa in the NSX and Northlander in your Club Car, both these races will use heavy damage ( only because this was decided at the start regardless of how N24 went :ouch: )

Also not sure if anyone has noticed but I have made available the Northlander track for you to test it out before R13 :)

Yes you definitely already had damage on the front right - I checked the replay, and you brushed the barrier after losing control from avoiding my off, but it did not give you any more damage, you hit the same front right corner.

No worries though Henry, it was a pretty frustrating race with all the damage going on, and hard to get a clean full lap in without some sort of contact or off... Glad I didn't have a headset because I was swearing at myself on occasion in sheer frustration! !

Hah :D it was tough in the dark agreed. I had a magical run of 3 perfect laps until I ran outa fuel including a 9:27 which was my outlap after a stop!

And here's me thinking you guy's like a challenge :sly:

I think the balance between day and dusk was just about right :)

To be honest I thought the reverse grid for the championship leaders would have worked in their favour! Being at the back with heavy damage on would have allowed the eager drivers to blast off thinking 'weeee' we've got a chance to get away and lead, only we all know how you need to pace yourself at the start due to cold tyres, this way once cars were going off, the leaders would be able pick their way through safely :D

First things first, apologies to anyone I made contact with into turn 1,was nothing more than a brain fart on my part missing my braking point. Contact seemed light only giving light damage to my front left so I pulled wide at turn 2 to give back any places I may have gained unfairly.

From there I managed to fight through the pack to take the lead before pitting at the end of lap 1 for repairs.

Fairly quiet race from then on,maintaining and slightly building a gap to Thirdreign in 2nd place until lap 9. Slight lack of concentration with a 30+ second lead I brushed the wall and picked up front left damage with a lap and a half to go. This cut my lead to15 seconds but the damage was light.
I was able to keep a decent pace and still lead by 13 seconds or so at the end of lap 9 so I decided not to pit and hope I could keep the lead till the end. Third was gaining and I think it would have been a pretty close finish if he hadn't had an off and picked up damage.

Having had time to consider my actions of late.
I find I have to MAN-UP an put my hands up and admit I was completely WRONG.
So if I have offended anyone with my actions or comments I am profoundly SORRY..

BEST WISHES ON THE FUTURE OF THIS EXCELLENT SERIES..

Highlights to follow today, with it being an eventful race I've got plenty of photos to process :D

Has anyone tested the Northlander yet? Anytimes set?

I keep thinking what could have been. I even reduced the fuel put in to save time... That worked huh? ^^

Going to try it today, will post times later :)

Its been quite a session preparing the photos from the first endurance event :scared:

Due to the extra 30 minutes of racing coupled with the eventful first 3/4 laps have given me plenty to sift through :)

I'm expecting the upload to go live in about an hour or so 👍

I didn't know you put it up. Might have a spin around it later.

31-8.png

Trotterlover79 looks on in amazment :) In all the excitment even Fuelmyfire is having difficulties entering the pits!

32-8.png

OmniusALX out of the pits....a quick check of the pop-up headlights, we'll be needing these soon.

33-8.png

Quite possibly the most action ever seen in any CORE GT pitstop! It's like Piccadilly Circus in there!!!

34-7.png

Dowlin39 just can't look! There's Trotterlover79!!! Go on Trotter! 👍

35-7.png

Back to the battle! KingBestJr has driven superbly to really close the gap with OmniusALX!

36-6.png

Too much pressure for OmniusALX as KingBestJr slipstreams.

37-7.png

OmniusALX can't believe it! KingBestJr carrying too much speed from the overtake, takes himself off - CRUNCH! :ouch:

38-6.png

The pressures off once again, OmniusALX can breath easy as KingBestJr has even more damage to contend with

39-6.png

A sturdy performance from Ade3210 on one of his weaker circuits...Holding 3rd from Jammy_Rex 👍

40-6.png

...Woah! Spoke too soon! It's critical to touch the grass at that speed :nervous:

41-6.png

What's this!!! Jammy_Rex plays the same move as Ade3210 spins across the track...

42-6.png

Seconds from disaster!

43-6.png

After a monumental impact, OmniusALX arrives and stands on the anchors with both feet to stop as Jammy_Rex & Ade3210's NSX's part...

44-6.png

OmnuisALX makes up 2 places but has his orange nemesis of KingsBestJr on his tail yet again! :scared::nervous:

45-6.png

Brace for impact, as KingBestJr mis-judges his braking point and almost T-bone's OmniusALX...

46-5.png

...with the minor damage from the earlier contact, OmniusALX can't hold the tail in line and loses it :ill:

47-4.png

At least OmniusALX doesn't have to race looking backwards for the forseeable future 👍

48-4.png

OmniusALX getting greedy as he tries to catch KingBestJr :D

49-3.png

KingBestJr is off!!!!! In the excitment, OmniusALX does exactly the same thing!!!! :dunce:

The time has come, with too much damaged sustained everylap, KingBestJr retires from the race....Unlucky mate, there's always next week 👍

58-1.png

As the race enters into the later stages, H_enry_T looks in a solid position to score big....

59-1.png

As if luck would have it, H_enry_T suffers a malfunction...

60-1.png

As the sun sets, so does H_enry_T's chances of any points, total gearbox failure :ouch: ( Disconnection  )

61-1.png

Geordie139 in a commanding position leading the race as we approach night 👍

63-1.png

Phew! That was close, Dowlin39 showing some highspeed grass cutting :sly:

64-1.png

As night falls, the laps fall and Dowlin39 takes on Fuelmyfire for 3rd place...

65-1.png

Fuelmyfire fluffs it and ploughs into the gravel as Dowlin39 gets that 3rd spot :)

66-1.png

How does that saying go Fuelmyfire? Ah yes, "Red sky at night, Keep a check on your petrol light!" :D  ;)

67-1.png

Third_Reign doing all he can to hold onto that 2nd place as we near the end of a dramatic race

68-1.png

It's like the Blair Witch out there! But that hasn't frightned our very own Trotterlover79! What a sterling drive from that man 👍 The full 1hr30 :D :D :D

69-1.png

The things dreams are made of! OmniusALX can't believe his luck as he passes the stricken NSX of Fuelmyfire!!!! He's running on fumes

70-1.png

Gutting for Fuelmyfire as OmniusALX takes 4th on the last lap! If only you had taken a few more litres of fuel, Fuel ( get it? ;) )

71-1.png

That was a tough race! But Geordie139 comes through to take an amazing win!!! Well done Geordie 👍 👍 👍

72-1.png

What's this! Yet more gifts from the N24???? Dowlin39 can see the lights, but it must be a backmarker surely????

73-1.png

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! With MAJOR damage, Third_Reign can only coast his battered NSX down the straight as Dowlin39's persistance pays off and takes 2nd with only a few turns to go!!!!

74-1.png

After the start Dowlin39 had, no one would have thought he'd finish 2nd!!! :D Nice one 👍

75-1.png

It goes without saying, never give in during a CORE GT Endurance race....you never know what will happen as Third_Reign limps home in 3rd.
