Great pictures guys, I really loved the races on saturday. The one race that will stick to my mind was the 10 lap battle for the lead with Tim. I felt like little deer chased by a lion and about to be eaten alive any minute :scared: I knew I had the speed comming on the straight but had to stay on pace and not make any mistakes in my slower part of the track.... Thanks Tim, was great (at least for me :) )

Yes, it was fun Frank... I was trying to catch you with everything I had, but couldn't pull off the pass in those last couple laps and you didn't leave any door open... Good show. Was a highlight of Saturday for me too.

Sunday it was the battle with oink on the final race which turned into a 4-way battle with Sjaak and Mich shown in those pics.

Also Sunday, Ren pull me back to the field and we thread a few needles and were flying thru the field for a bit which was fun too.

I think over 8 races I had the chance to race close with almost everyone. 👍 my car was like a bull in a china shop with 200 kg ballast and 100% stock tune, but I grew to love it. As JTV said it was nearly impossible to crash.

I've had so much fun racing this weekend. I just want to thank you all for letting me join in and be a part of this community. I know I still make mistakes, and I apologize for them, but I'm now a better driver and racer than I ever was before and I get better with every race because you all show me how it's done right.

I can't wait for the next parity event! :)

Parity Formula (courtesy of DeadNutsEven Racing)

We'll publish a track, target time, max speed and tire compounds. The current specs:

  • Track: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
  • Target Time: 1'36.500
  • Max Speed: 211 kph / 131 mph (your speed should not exceed this at the end of the longest straight*, and you should not hit the rev-limiter)
  • Tire: Sports Medium (Use a softer compound if you cannot obtain the target time without going over the max speed)
  • Car Choice: Nostalgia Cars*

Your job is to choose any car in the game (that meets the event car choice criteria) and set it up any way you like until you can just reach, but not exceed the target time using our online specs (listed below), but be sure to run online with tire wear / fuel consumption set to off. The tire compound specified is the primary option and is a reasonable target for D2-D3 drivers. If you are having a hard time achieving the target lap time without exceeding the max speed then you can use a tire one compound softer. If you are D1 and/or alien driver you can use a tire one compound harder to achieve your result.

Nostalgia Cars Allowed (P=Premium | S=Standard):
  • P Ferrari F40 '92
  • S RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87
  • S RUF BTR '86
  • P Ferrari 512BB '76
  • S Lamborghini Countach LP400 '74
  • S Jensen Interceptor MkIII '74
  • P Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71
  • P Dodge Charger 440 R/T '70
  • P 1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer
  • P Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) '69
  • P Chevrolet Camaro SS '69
  • P Lamborghini Miura '67
  • P Shelby 427 '66
  • P Morrison Corvette '60

You can:
  • Use a car stock (but please break it in and change oil so your power is constant)
  • Use a fully tuned car (any parts as long as you meet the requirements)
  • Use ballast or power limiter to fine tune your achievable times
  • Use a clutch and any shifter (as long as you use it when you set your times)
  • Use any view (cockpit, etc. as long as you use it to set your times and as long as you can drive safely and maintain situation awareness)
  • Use ABS (or not) -- as long as you use the same settings to achieve the target time

You will have to put some practice time in to get consistent with the car/track and fine tune your setup as you improve and approach the target time. We may even organize a few of these session prior to the event, but for now just post to this thread if you want to use the lounge for practice and invite others to join. If you don't prepare enough and are still on a steep part of your learning curve when you show up for the event you are likely to improve significantly during the race and create an imbalance. We will have some procedures to correct that during an event, but the more prepared you are the better the racing will be for everyone.

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the best approach to converging on the best specs for you. Choose a car that you can be consistent with. If you have trouble with consistency choose an easier handling car or opt for the softer compound. The idea is for everyone to have a shot at a win and be able to negotiate traffic safely.

Once you have a car and spec picked you can sign up for the event and use the registration form in the 3rd post. You'll be asked some details about the car and specs. You can update your specs at any time by filling out the registration form again. If you are interested and want to save your car choice for later just put in TBD in the fields. This will help us get an advanced measure of interest for any event.

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:
  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Sorry I'm going to miss this one.... have fun... I think Sjaak has come up with another gem!

That car list is awesome. Many to choose from, but one of my personal faves I've been tinkering with is the Mach One, sooo.....

Would have loved to participate just looking at the photos! Sadly unable to attend any races from now until 2 weeks, but I'll still be about. Might even be able to stream some stuff from time to time if people are interested.

I might see if I can make this. Sounds like fun. Just have to make sure I don't have any plans that weekend (aka, ask my wife if she's planned anything for me!)

Edit: I messed around with this a bit. I'll need more time to get consistent before I mess with the tune, but at the end of the straight, my speed is too high. How can I bring it down without increasing my lap times?

Awesome combo Sjaak 👍
I was just thinking about the Parity Events yesterday and today I see this update, nice :)
Will take part in both races for sure.
The choice of the car will not be easy, so many great cars on the list.
Really looking forward to this one, one of my favourite tracks too.

With this set up I get 209 kph on mediums with a time of 1'35
Perhaps worth a try 👍, fiddle around with first mediums and then soft.

Good choice, during testing this car has a high fun rate.

The parity races are not streamed yet,if I recall right so definite interested.

I chose a car I have never driven, the Mustang Trans-Cammer. It is a little squirly, but with the amount of power limiter I am using, it is now fairly easy to drive smooth, consistent laps around the target time. It is maxing at about 127 MPH on the first straight and that may come down as the more I run laps, the better lap times I am finding. The sound on this car is really good. I need to let Bob break it in, then detune once again.

Yep, those heavy big cars have great engine sounds, certainly ad a big fun part of the car.
Almost picked the car myself.👍

Btw,cars can be chosen multiple times, racers are all free to use any car on the list even if other racers have chosen a car already.:)

And pic off me and my car:

Plan will be to choose an other one for the Sunday but have not decided yet.

Did some testing with my Miura. Ah it's such a sweet one. This is one of the most amazing cars in GT5 and it handles.... ah.... like a knife cutting.... pudding. You guys should really try it.

It is an upgraded stock. The only mod the car desperately needs is a Limited Slip Diff. I set it at 10/20/10. Together with hard tires and 260 BHP this results in a 1'36.6xx laptime and a 205 kph top speed.

a new parity event.. sweeeet!!
just registered. but then I saw its Laguna.
My feelings about Laguna are #%@&*%$#@##$, usually..
But its the fun that matters, and these cars should provide plenty of it :)

one other thing, is there a special reason the Japanese nostalgic cars aren't allowed?
would've loved to try the 280Z or something.

The Fairlady Z 280z 2seater ´78 and Nissan 240ZG ´71 were on my original list when I started testing.
I had troubles to meet the recommended laptime so took them off the list.

Wouter ,give them a shot,if they can make the laptime within the topspeed, give me a note and I can ad them.👍

Thanks Sjaak 👍

I'll try and see if i can make it go round quick enough.
But if you couldnt do it, I doubt I will.

I could of course have been less Peter Griffin about it and see if the 280Z could come anywhere near these laptimes
Which, for the record, it doesnt. (at least not with my driving skills)

But, me being me, I did choose another car thats not on the list :dunce:
The Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Concept '88 to be precise.
That is if you will allow it of course ;)
488pp, 1250kgs, Sport Mediums, HP to be decided as I'm fiddling with the hp/torque ratio..

The Z is great, and I've used it before for parity; I'll bet a good time to use it will come again, as well as many other possible cars :sly:

I'm messing around with my F40 in my lounge (gtp_gman1647) if anyone wants to join. Maybe 30 or 40 more minutes.

All done. Thanks for the company Patrick.

Registered for both races, although only as reserve for Saturday. I still have to fine tune the Mach 1 to get closer to the target lap time...

Thursday 19:00 GMT the 3D3 main louche is open for practice.

There is a big chance for some practice time on Friday, also 19:00 GMT.

I like to try some more cars for the Sunday race.
