Oh great..............I'm a noob when it comes to driving F1's.

Usually in the Gran turismo for the playstation series, i totally leave my opponets in the dust. But now, the gran turismo for PSP has 2 awesome formula racers i can't even drive. Heres my issues with them:

Polyphony Digital Formula Gran Turismo: wow.....love his acceleration. Love how quickly it will gain speed. But now, after spending 5 million on it, I have a lot of trouble changing directions. Its so bad i find it as a insurance liability on wheels

Ferrari F2007: Sexy racer. Made to match the curves as if they were nothing. But its handling can be TOO GOOD for its own good. I over steer with it a lot. Hitting walls, falling on grass, making slow turns to go by but then the other F2007's will disappear.

Main point to this topic: what is the best track to practice them, the best set of tires, and other tips you have to offer with your expierences.

Thanks in advance.

I think they slowed down the steering a bit on these for some reason. Which makes it easier to keep them in a straight line, but harder to change direction like you want, and much harder to do anything about it when they are a bit sideways. A shame really because these two cars should probably have the quickest and most responsive steering in the game.

The toe settings on the F2007 is +50 front/-50 rear... this is one of the main reasons people find it easier to drive than the PD F1 car (which has it's toe settings at 0 front/0 rear). Adjusting these can make a HUGE difference.

F1 driving is all about adjusting the gears to the proper ratios for the track, and then sticking to a wide driving line so your car can ideally be as straight as possible to take the turns as fast as possible with little to no understeer, in other words the car is so nimble that it must be driven with a degree of stiffness so that you know when it gets too loose youre losing it.

I like racing the F2007 on Suzuka, only because it reminds me of the Japanese GP.:D But the thing is is that you need to have a good idea of what's coming up and how to drive. I'm guessing like the real car, you don't always have a lot of thinking time.

As far as the Formula GT, it's the same thing, except about twice as much. It's got so much power, that it wheel-spins until 4th gear(Not by much after 1st). As much as you would probably like to, you can't drive super-flat out and not expect problems.

Woo! That toe setting of 50 and -50 made it a whole lot better. on to the F2007 now.

wow, i love f2007, on every aspect. not so much with the formula GT.

i did 5'28.673 at nurburgring on f2007, pro mode, assist off, manual, R3R3. Stock settings.

at first the steering is a bit weird, but it only need sometime to get used to.
Dont steer like steering regular cars. Turn a little later, it has a sharp turning angle. dont countersteer unless the back does a 'proper' slide and don't floor the gas when it happens. Keep your nerves down and play easy on the gas when exiting a corner to avoid wheel spin. Shift to a higher gear would also help.

And to be fast, brake late and let off early. This car does speedy turns. So speeding up in corners can help you avoid early cornering which usually end up crashing the barriers at the inside of the corner.

Another thing that gets me while driving f2007 is my own nerves. I get paranoid seeing how fast this car can go, and it gets worse on a narrow road, then everything ends on the grass.

Try to calm down. And knowing the track well would be very helpful.

The F2007 is a dream, it handles great and is incredibly easy to drive. The FGT is awful handling and is undriveable. I crashed once and still managed to pull a 5:16 out of the bag at nurburgring in the F2007, i'm really good with F1 cars. I've yet to complete a lap of the ring with the FGT.

Alright i did nurburgring with the ferrari F2007. My record was 5.47.941. That was because i messed up at least once or twice. Getting better. I guess it was my nerves and reflexes. But i did notice how the car bounces for going over the apex. Quite annoying since i won't be able to steer.

whoa man, i thought it was impossible to get under 5'20. Mind sharing some tips? 👍

5.47 is good. you'll be faster in no time. Yea, apex can ruin the run sometimes. Take notes on which ones are touchable and which ones act like a sleeping policeman.

Sometimes you can lessen the impact of this with spring/damper settings, but I don't think those are changeable on the F2007.

Well, apart from maximum downforce front and rear, I didn't do any other tuning. Stability Control was off, and Traction Control was only at 3. Just go for it in every corner, some of them you can actually take very quickly. I just jumped into time trial and did that time in one lap. Only mistake I made was at Adenauer Forst, came in a bit too hot and skipped over the grass into the wall. I'm sure with a clean lap, I could shave off about 3 seconds.

EDIT: It's incredibly hard to do a lap, it's all bumpy and the grass is lava(touch it and you're screwed), plus it's very narrow and the rumble strips are much too high. I've been trying all day to do a full, pushing the limits, lap, and i've screwed up every time, but when I do, I think it'll be about 5:10.

I'm working hard on that one!
Trying to get around a good set up it's hard for me though...I'll share it just for the laughs.

I lowered my F2007 record around the ring from 5:16 to 5:12. Made a mistake on the last corner:banghead: and skipped across the grass to the finish line. I'll try again to do a perfect lap some other time.

Wait, when you mean by maximum downforce, do you mean putting both front and rear +150?

It's hard, but entertaining!
You have to be crazy in some corners, I never thought I would go that fast in the ring.
You have to trust those tyres man! I've done some corners at a crazy speed!

yo PJ-FFL thanks for the tips, i did 5'16.298 WOOO HOOOO...
gee, what a drive. i can feel my heart beats like a frickin bass drum man.

okay i'm just gona take some rest and do that again some other time.

My most enjoyable part of lapping the F2007 around the ring is the replays. It just looks amazing.

Nice one guys you made my record look like crap heh heh

Well, The F2007 did do wonders for me with the downforce setiings. One big problem:I FAILED TO BEAT THE RECORD THAT I SET BECAUSE I WAS DESTRACTED BY MEGAN FOX! 🤬

Well practice makes perfect i always say.......despite the fact that no ones perfect I'm gonna go for the good record. I want to be able to reduce the record I made by a good 20-25 seconds at least. The apex still seems to be my anti F1 blockade. BUt I got to be patient because this is a huge track and I'm taking multiple laps taking more than 5 minutes. :sly:

By the way, is anyone willing to share their settings on the Formula gran turismo that they made so far. I did make it better, but I wonder if someone made a much better settings than I did.
