PD, get 16 cars in a room trouble free and I'll think about purchasing from you in the future. Otherwise your servers are complete garbage. GT5 and PD, you lose!

Please lock this thread, and lock this out this guy, its holydays servers must be at full.
Edit: or... the other players have awful bandwith

No he is absolutely right. The server code for this game really is garbage, and i've been playing it online since release. Me and my group of friends that play once a week, constantly have issues with cars disappearing, not showing up ever once a race starts, and people unable to voice chat.

Yeah sorry. We've been in each of our 16 drivers private lounges, open lobby fixed low-normal and high, mics on mics off. We've been non fixed host with all available choices as well. We are all high band with low ping. Lap times become 10 seconds slower and lag. Yes we reset tracks and all that jazz. Something else we shouldn't have to do. So PD Eat It. Jump on a 12 driver room no issue. But dumb.

I'm not an avid online player, but for the times I've been playing, no lag, even when racing with some Japanese host. Maybe your ISP is throttling that kind of info? DHCP? I do not know pal, hope your issue get solved somehow.

It's multiple leagues, multiple issues. It's bad.

Poor upload and absence of NAT1/2.

Don't blame others for your bad connection.

And please, rename the thread to more appropriate "My Internet Connection is GARBAGE!!!!!!"

Thank you in advance.

It's not his internet connection. A lot of people have this problem. I don't have these issues with any other PS3 game, or game on my Xbox 360 or PC. You being a vapid fanboy that pretends these issues don't exist, isn't helping.

Respect to Amar pal, I have a not so good connection 2-5Mbits DL and 700Kbps UL and no problem here. No lag, no ghosts

Do some more research. Thank you. High NAT 2 low ping. So yeah. PD.

And you don't account for everyone. Considering the attitude on this forum, to just pretend there are never any issues with anything in this game, i'm more inclined to take the OP seriously, over Amar. My own experiences, along with the 15 other people I play with weekly, that have issues, tells me this game has really bad netcode.

Pal I am not accounting for everyone, that why i said " No problems here" (in my experience so far) "I'm not an avid online player, but for the times I've been playing, no lag" ( just in my case)

I also agree that GT is not perfect, it have its issues..

One persons bad connection to a room can definitely cause issues within the whole room but I do agree that just having 16 people in a room seems to cause a lot of lag issue regardless of how good everyone's connection is. I no longer create rooms for more than 12 people for that very reason.

So exactly how many Turn 10 employees frequent this forum? It's funny how every time there's a GT5 update coming soon, they come out in full force making up silly GT5 bashing threads. You'd think they'd have video games to program, but oh, that's right they don't have to put very much work into their games since they don't program anything even resembling real life physics, so they have plenty of time to be obsessive over everything Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital are doing, and to launch web forum attack campaigns to just try and make GT5 look as bad as their lame game instead of actually putting in the effort to make their product even come close to the quality of the object of their obsession aka GT5.

How much does download speed have to do with this? I play games fine on games such as Battlefield, call of duty, Grand theft auto, and they put up with it, but GT5 sometimes doesn't have the capacity.

I have a ridiculous, 100kb/s download and like 20kb/s upload, and most of the time i can stay on a server for a bit.
But if you want a real, really bad server, try Midnight Club Los Angeles.

This is what projecting yourself onto others looks like.

Are you for real with this post? I didn't realize people were that butthurt and bitter still over there being better games then Gran Turismo. You still like GT5, so what? No one cares, especially Forza fans.

I don't know any Forza fans, that play that game only, that care for GT5 at all. It doesn't even register on their radar. They wouldn't even think to bother bashing this game, they don't need to.

Something we are considering. We noticed the same 3 months ago.

PD needs to hear this stuff. I suspect this thread may get shut down to keep the "relationship" healthy.

So you noticed that, but blame PD. K.

Anyone wireless? Sorry, but it does make a difference. I have seen this. I have had friends say, "My internet connection is great! Great speed with blah blah and blah!" Then they run wire, and, BEHOLD! Their issue with lag is gone!

Just sayin.

Not saying there aren't issue. But people don't often take the time on THEIR side to make sure they aren't the cause.

OK, I tried to be sarcastic, but just for the explanation:

It takes just one of the people in the Lobby that have either:

- poor upload
- NAT3
- closed some ports on the router
- downloading torrents/wife watching Youtube/somebody in the household using WiFi for his iPhone > in the same time you're driving
- even wireless

...to bring the whole room to its knees. However, it is not really the problem of GT5.

I have my own community of more than 150 members that are playing strictly GT5 on weekly basis. We had so many issues that I can't even number them all, but it always comes down to internet speed and bandwidth-iiuses related to some of players, never on servers (except when servers are not working :))

It is really wrong to call GT5's network-code a garbage, because it is one of the best NT codes imaginable. Just imagine for a second the amount of data that flows through the network while 12+ people are playing GT, chat and so on, and you'll get the picture about the complexity.

I was really being sarcastic with my initial response - you might have a great internet - but I assure you, after the hundreds and hundreds nights spent in GT5 online, 99% of problems with connections can be related to users, not to the netcode.

The OP is absolutely right, i play on-line games many years and i have never come across to a such a buggy server.
Especially in PS3 that i have it from day 1 i have never come across with a server with all this issues.
My ps3 is in DMZ, uPNP enabled, Nat Type2 with 10mb down 2mb up connection.

i always get high or very high recommended for race quality/voice from gt5 but the bloody thing has indeed some major issues.

I run wireless and rarely have issues. 7mb Down/3mb Up

But I do have to disconnect my VoIP or I may get disconnected if the phone rings.

Guess we know who the lazy employee at Turn 10 is, lol :sly:
