Welcome to the thread!
This championship is sanctioned by the World Motorsport Association
With this championship I seek to replicate the action that the worlds best championship, the World Rally Championship, delivers.
Schedule:
FFSA Michelin Rallye de France
Rally of America - Tour of Alaska
Mitsubishi Rally Japan
OMV Eiger Nordwand Rallye
Rallye Liège-Bastogne-Liège Automobiles
Pirelli Rally d'Italia
ADAC Rallye Nürburgring
Points system:
This championship is using the current FIA points system:
1: 25 points
2: 18 points
3: 15 points
4: 12 points
5: 10 points
6: 8 points
7: 6 points
8: 4 points
9: 2 points
10: 1 point
Cars:
The cars participating in the WRC class must be built to the World Rally Car regulations. For those not familiar with that, it was introduced in 1997. Cars must therefore be built in 1997 or later.
Due to the lack of options to control it, aftermarket turbos are allowed for use.
Procedure:
The way we are doing is following:
Lap 1 of the 3 laps is a recce lap, to get a final practice on the course, and to "reset" the lap timer.
Lap 2 is where it counts.
Lap 3 is a buffer to make sure you won't finish the race.
Cars start their timed run with a 30 second interval.
Rules:
Touching the wall is sometimes necessary in order to stay on the road, however, know your limits! If you hit the wall with a descent on the other side, you may be rewarded a penalty that would be re-enacting real life time loss. This will also happen if you would have crashed into other objects if the wall wasn't there.
Jump starting is illegal as well. Any jump starts I notice and can prove (being a second too early) will be rewarded a 10 second time penalty and a warning, while any other jump starts will result in disqualification. You will also be disqualified if you do 3 jump starts in a Rally.
IMPORTANT: If you by mistake or miscalculation cross the finish line, don't panic and start right away! If you do this, it will count as a jump start. If you simply reverse back to around the start line, you'll be forgiven and at max. recieve a warning.
As most of the stages (sadly) have to be run full lap, a problem will be starting/finishing drivers. Should there come a finishing car just as a starting car is about to begin (e.g. it will cross the finish line within the next few seconds), the starting car may wait 5 seconds before starting. If I find it ok, it won't affect the time. An "illegal" wait will result in a ticking clock, and a wait of more than 30 seconds will be handed a 1 minute time penalty.
It might be offroad, but you are required to be realistic in corner cutting. You don't see the WRC drivers going the straight line to the finish all the time.
In the event a faster car comes to you (e.g. if you're damaged badly), you are not required to pull over as you're basically on the same lap, but you are not allowed at all to block on purpose. What you should do is keep humbling and try to be as predictable as possible without adjusting your line, or doing this as little as possible. As in road races, you might get penalised for causing another car to crash.
The rallies takes place on Saturdays 18:00 GMT.
I will announce results on Sunday after the rally because it needs validation of times and possible penalties.
Important:
Service area:
You're only allowed to change the setup in the service, which appears after Stage 1 and 3. This means Stage 2 and 3 must be driven with the same setup. If you are caught in the settings screen between Stage 2 and 3, you'll recieve a 1 minute penalty.
SupeRally:
SupeRally means you can start from the next service in case you miss/retire from a stage. You'll recieve 1 minute added to the slowest stage time as your time on each stage missed.
Tyres:
For gravel and snow stages, we're not really spoilt for choice. For tarmac stages, we'll be using Sport Soft tyres.
3rd/reserve/junior drivers:
Teams are allowed to field up to 3 drivers in total. However, only 2 of these are allowed to score manufacturer points. Unlike most (if not all) other series that will just take the teams top 2 performers, the team is required to nominate the 2 drivers that will score for their manufacturer at least 24 hours before the rally. This will happen by PM to me, and must be done by all 3 drivers. Is this not done in time, I reserve the rights to exclude a team from the rally.
If there is space in the room once all drivers are in, possible 3rd/reserves will be allowed entry, but will not score manufacturer points (see above).
