I've seen plenty of threads where people need a Safety Car for opening pace laps, rolling starts, NASCAR races with Cautions, etc. I had this idea to make a thread where people could go to find professional Safety Car drivers. Drivers that are reliable and will show up to the event, drivers that can hold a steady speed with ease, drivers who won't do donuts or take laps around the track when they start to get bored. This is the thread where Safety Car drivers can be found.

If you need a Safety Car driver, just make a post stating your Pace Speed and exactly what the driver would be doing; whether it's just for a opening lap, or if it's for a full race that has Cautions, or whatever else you might want a Safety Car driver around for. Also include a link for to your event's thread. One of our Safety Car drivers should then reply, send you a FR and show up for your event. Please give some notice in advance, it's a lot easier to schedule with some warning rather than on short notice.

Safety Car Driver Registration Process We're always accepting new Safety Car drivers.
1. Meet all of the Safety Car Driver Requirements (below)
2. Make a post with your time zone, when you're online usually, which Safety Car Driver Category (below) works best for you, and any other information you would like to add. I'll then add you to the list when I check on the thread.
3. Make a post to schedule a meeting so that I may evaluate your performance.
4. Once you pass the evaluation you will be a fully certified Safety Car Club Driver. Be sure to check back often as I'll be posting events that need one of our drivers in the Event Queue. (below)

Safety Car Driver Requirements
Patience
Able to hold a steady speed within 1-2 mph while pacing.
The ability to follow the event organizer's rules/instructions.

Safety Car Driver Category's
When signing up you can use this as a reference to let us know what type of driver you are.
Opener This driver only will do an opening pace lap for a race.
Caution This driver will stick around and come out if your race has a full course caution. Good for events such as a NASCAR race or other events where their job would be to bunch up the field again.
Escort This driver will exit the pits if a car is heavily damaged and escort them back to the pits. Good for races with sectional cautions. You are only allowed to apply for training for this if you are going to be acting as Safety Car in an event that would use this.
Junior Endurance This driver can stick around for races lasting 4-6 hours.
Endurance This driver can stick around for the longer races. 6-12 hours.
Super Endurance This driver can stick around for the longest races. 12-24+ hours.

Reviews
If you use one of our drivers in an event. It would be great if you could come back to this thread and let us know how they did. Tell us about their reliability and how they performed overall.

No events.

Taken Events
If an event is listed here, it means that it already has a Safety Car. The driver will be listed next to the event, if something comes up where a driver that is scheduled to take an event cannot make that event, let us know ASAP so we can get a replacement for the event.

If you're keeping track of this you can put me down. Mostly online around 6 pm British time, plus/minus up to an hour on each side. Every other weekend I'm online almost all the time, but in any case I'd need at least a few days to set up things and make agreements :)

My SC experience:

BTCC S2
Some random online events
After June 8 you can add Trial Mountain 2 Hours to the list as well

Sure, I'll add you to the list. Good to have you on board. I wasn't sure if this idea would take off or not. I'm glad it's getting some momentum.

I know it's spur the moment, but do you think you could pace my IndyCar event later today? Actually, I need racers for it, (5 total at the moment) but if you'd rather pace that's fine. The link to it is in my signature.

Based off of your Trial Mountain event it looks like you pace for races that involve Cautions right? I'll actually update the OP with some category's a bit later.

I think I might sign up. I haven't driven for any races yet, but I'd love to. I can follow rules, easily maintain my speed, and I park my car far away from the other cars as to not cause accidents. Additionally, I'd prefer if race hosts can coordinate with my EST time zone. That makes it much easier to attend races. I'm on most of the week, after 1:30 PM but I stop around 5:30-6:30 to eat dinner. But I can go right back to the game after dinner.

@Peelster, 2 hours is a bit too long, not only do I have a very small window I'm online anyway, but I'm also heavily limited by my mothers philosophy of gaming which is one hour a day. So you can add to my description that anything above about 45 minutes (I have to cater for logging on and the game not starting) will need an early warning, the earlier the better :)

@kieran, I'll be looking at the thread

Loooooool, and yh @rallymorten yh have a look at it my race is taking place today at 10:30 so it's better if anyone interested to come 10pm uk time and let me know if your interested

10pm would be too late for me, unfortunately :(

I don't know why but I have this kinda obsession to come with suggestions wherever I go (). I don't know if you've been giving it a thought, but what about some sort of rating system? Where people participating in a race with one of our SC drivers can rate the SC driver on a scale from 0 (think this) to 10 (the absolutely best SC imaginable)? People don't just want a SC, they want a good one as well :)

I think I could be a volunteer safety car driver. I can hold my speed easy, and I have a little experience. I am usually active on weekends in the GMT timezone. I think my real specialty is in suggesting pace cars for the event, from Skyline Pace Cars for just about anything, to Camaros for Daytona/Indy, from SL55/SLS AMGs for F1 to R8s/Corvettes for Le Mans. And is it wrong to say that I've thought of building up an Indy 500 Safety Car collection more than once?

Sounds like you'd be good for this. Let me know if you're going to sign up and I'll add you to the list.

I'll add that to your info.

A rating system would be good. I'll have to add to the OP a section about submitting reviews. Even though I'm not sure on the 0 to 10 scale, one person's 10 might be another person's 7. We definitely wouldn't want anything like that Youtube video happening. That's why I created this thread, I've been in races with SC drivers that couldn't keep a steady speed, or did donuts, or sometimes got bored and took laps around the track, or left early. I actually had one race where the SC driver did all of that.

Sounds like you're a good candidate. I'll add you to the list. I just added a short category section in the OP listing different types of drivers. Which one are you?

It's great that we're getting people, I propose that we get a time to get together for an evaluation. How about next Monday? Just post what times work for you all.

Updates to the OP: I added a section categorizing different types of safety car drivers. I'll take suggestions for new category's or even rewording some descriptions. I also added a part about submitting reviews and a sentence stating that people needing SC drivers need to post a link to their thread. When I get a bit more time, I'll get to work on changing the time zone part of the OP from EST, BST etc. to GMT +/-. I also added an Event Queue.

We'll need more specifics, such as pace speed, how long you'll need us, thread link etc. Please read the OP again. When I have all the information needed, I'll add your event to the event queue.

Who can be a SC driver for an IndyCar race tonight at 8pm EST at Twin Ring Motegi Speedway? Skyline (Pace) is preferred. Pace Speed: 55 mph (about 89 km/h) [May be raised on occasion when the field groups together.] Starting Pace Lap Speed: 99 mph. (about 159 km/h) We will have Cautions and Wave Around. This is part of a series that will every Tuesday at 8pm EST. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=281928

Peel steer do you think you can be one now and with bhp at 345 bhp

You can't keep changing your time. Pick one, it's hard to coordinate if you keep changing your time. I can't now, I'm opening my IndyCar room.

This seems like an interesting break from the normal racing scene. I would also like to offer my services to be a pace car driver. I am fairly good at keeping a steady speed in my cars and I can follow the rules where they apply.

I am available for events at GMT timezones as long as they are before 11pm-1am. I can do opening lap and cautions when needed. I also do not have Spa as I did not buy the DLC.

I don't know if you saw my application, but I'd like to be a caution driver.

I saw your post, but you worded it as "I think I might sign up.", so I thought you were still thinking it over. I did reply to that post. I'll put you down as a Caution driver.

I'll sign you up, the only other thing I need is what category I should place you in.

I'm glad I'm getting sign-ups for this, but we still have an event in the queue. Any takers?

Driver evaluation to come. I need to know what date and time works best for people. I should be available for multiple dates and times. I propose a Monday.

I'd like to be placed in the category for Caution drivers.

For some reason I actually missed that slight bit about opening laps and caution laps in your first post.

I can Safety car drive.
(well, not done it before, but holding a set speed is easy)

Opener, Caution & Escort

GMT-+ 0 anytime between 9PM-1AM is fine (so that'll be Junior endurance too, if its timed right)

I have the Pace Car.

Welcome. I've added you to the list.

Thank you for that!

I thought you'd like that. :)

Announcement:
Something I've asked is when people are able to get together for a little evaluation meeting. No responses. We don't need everyone to attend at once, I can hold multiple evaluations. I'm free most of the time, so I need you guys to let me know when. Or I can just evaluate people right before they take their first event under the club name, but I figured that it might be easier if we got a few people together at the same time. Please make a post letting me know what time works for you so I can get you certified.

Update: I have reformatted the sign-up process. I believe this new structure will make it easier for everyone to become a certified Safety Car Club Driver as easily as possible. Check the OP for more details.

I've also renamed the club from "The Safety Car Driver Club" to the "The Safety Car Club", as referring to our members as "Safety Car Club Drivers" sounds better than referring to them as "Safety Car Driver Club Drivers".
