Ok, this is NOT about the physics engine. So just leave that out. But I mean the little things like menu options, car modifications, track options, whatever you think would make the game either run smoother or just plain better.

I for one would like to have the current weight distrubution avalible when you're setting it or adding ballasts. This way you can know what it is you're doing.

I'd also like to see the used car showrooms organized much better. At least by brand. I find it quite difficult to find the cars I'm looking for.

It would be good, if you can choose between your cars, like you do in for example in NFSU, you know, just left, right, changes between cars, and you see how they look, not just the name, list, where you have to click on a car name, and then you see it..

-I'd like to see the subscreens eliminated from the tuning screen. You'd just have the main tuning screen which displays the information about the parts on the top, and a bunch of menus at the bottom to select from.
-I'd like to be able to change the parts and settings on any car while it's in the garage. It's kind of silly as it is; the garage really just a parking lot, and you have to go to a track to do any work.
-I'd like the shortcut icons from GT2 back (go racing, go home). They saved a lot of annoying fiddling around with subscreen upon subscreen upon subscreen.
-I'd like to see dyno charts in full detail (with exact figures, not just some vauge lines in a box) anywhere applicable. In the tuning shop it shouldn't just tell you that a stage 4 turbo kit will put your power way up at the top of the rev band, it should show you.
-The car writeups in GT2 were great, it would be nice to see them back again.
-I agree about the used car lots, it would be nice to be able to sort them like you can your home garage.
-In the garage, why are all the car's statistics hidden under the 'sell' option? Who designs this crap?

Overall, I think the GT GUI sucks, and I would like it not to.

I would like to be able to know what my A-Spec points will be before I start a race, so I can make changes without getting a race into my overall total.

Press start my friend! You'll be able to change the settings.

yep start works a treat :D

i would like to be able to change the rim size on the car, i want 20's on my monaro.

I would enjoy:

Paint jobs (example, when you buy a new car, you can choose paint, if you can do that option then you should be able to paint it any of the other colors you did not select at a later date for around 1000-3000 cr.)

Take out car washes unless we actually need it.

I enjoy the current used lot system, except the way you brosw through them. It needs to be organized by make/model/year/mileage/etc.

Make it so , somehow someway, we cant enter cars into races that are total overkill. I know some of us have control and can do this ourselves, but I think PD should have a minimum and maximum power/weight ratio limit.

I enjoyed the coffee breaks in the gt4 licenses. More of these fun little shinanigans would be awsome.

2 Player drag racing.

1 Player time-based rallying downhill.

No more giving us cars that we cant use for prizes, leave those novelty cars and etc for the historic lot for lots of cr.

Better car sounds. Blow off valves, or at least turn them up.

I think need for speed had a great thing with its set of drag racing, having to hit the gears at the correct time was a blast in that game, would love to see some form of that with real cars and great mechanics.

Have aspec points work more correctly and have it be the limiter for who you can race online.

Online set tournaments would be insanly cool.

Downloadable extra tracks or etc would be awsome, keep us playing. (I think this will already be implemented)

Custom music only.

Custom paint jobs (maybe)

Working tail lights

Instead of working on making 50 models of the same car (aka the skyline route), work on getting more different cars.

I think it'd be a fun / stupid idea for them to put car systems into the game. Maybe you cant have any bass in your music without one? lol =p

thats all i can think of, i could sit here all night

-edited for typos-

Im sure this shouldnt be said, but what if other people racing / driving near us could slightly hear our music we're playing? 💡

When I first heard about how GT4's home page was done, i thought that you'd really be driving around a town going to dealerships and etc, I think this would be an awsome idea for gt5. Maybe have online where you can drive / cruise around that town just to bs around? Go to dealerships to sign up for races, and then drive out of the town to pick which track you'd like to visit 👍

Oh. Whoops. Thanks Swift and kayman

Racing tires slightly increase wheel diameter, but you probably knew that already.
Reminds me:
I want GT3's wheel system back! GT4's is awful, I hardly even bother buying wheels anymore.
Also, I liked how race cars came with the full range of racing tires in GT2.

the driving around to dealerships would be cool....especially if there was ai traffic and stop lights :P would have to be carefull...especially if they have a damage model that requires you to pay for repairs....

heres an idea: loaner cars, pay a small fee on a weekly basis or by milage....would be an easier way to start the game.....

Or possibly even throw in financing and APR rates for buying new cars? =p, would put a whole new aspect to how months can affect you. "man i gotta win this race or else theyll reposes my car!"

Shortcut --> this could really help to save loading time.

Different tuning company delivers different mod result. In GT4, tuning company seems unused because they all sell the same mods.. 👎 the different is only special cars they sold.

How about this: 💡 Building a car into touring races / race modified like those on GT-1. Maybe this could be combined with tuning company.. You could use any tuning company as your car's race modification if you buy 50% or more mods on that shop
Skyline with full HKS mods, will have HKS graphics job on it's race modification. that would be nice...

Make a new GT mode, were the races are scheduled in specific days, showing us a calendar with the races that are starting that day. Each race consumes a predetermined time and as day and month, time is displayed in the top of the GT mode Menus. As you move from your garage to the local dealer or other parts of the game you consume time too. Each one of the championship races will take one day in the calendar (race #1 12/10 race #2 13/10 ..) this way you can use the rest of the day to enter in another race if you have time to do so. You pay fees to enter in some races and championships.

More technical information about the car in the replay analyzer like suspension travel, etc.

Paint your car and all parts the way you want (not free).

better replays, change the track cam, rewind, panoramic view, zoom in and out etc...

For Photomode, I would like to be able to;

1) Have the option to add multiple cars to my shot.

2) Be able to choose the exact amount of panorama I want to use (for example, being able to do a full 360 panorama type shot  but that would probably be overkill lol).

3) Basically the things you can do in Photoshop but made for dummies like me. :dunce:

Lots of great ideas here, but I only have two major gripes since the beginning of GT that they gotta fix:

- Paint shop. Why the hell can't we respray our cars (Pink Yaris prize car in GT3 anyone?)?
- Test drive. Who IRL buys a car without driving it first? A simple thing to implement, allow you to pick a track and car and for 5 Cr. or something test it out.

As for fixes to GT4 and other miscellaneous ideas:

- I second bringing back the shortcuts from GT2 (and a few more wouldn't hurt).
- Full screen 2 player replays, with the ability to save them.
- I agree on the upgrade details point someone made: show us what the upgrade is gonna do to our (more detailed) power/torque graph.
- Qualifying for ALL races, not just championships.
- Get rid of the s**tty autosave!
- Fix the engine sounds
- Structure the game so that you don't have to win everything to finish. While I'm sure most people have no problem doing this, to me it adds an "arcade" factor to the game which I don't like. I'm not sure how to go about changing this since it's been part of GT since #1, but something about it just sticks in my craw :odd:
- Better grid matching. At the moment it's often hard to find that thin line of competitive racing in most events, so you either end up with a vastly outmatched car, or you win by a country mile :grumpy:

Whew okay I'll stop now. Good thing you said don't mention the physics engine or I'd have a few more :D

Reverse lights, yes it had to be said.

Wider variety of (Non-Japanese) second hand cars.
Car part wear.
Race mods.
Fuel that you actually have to refill, I want my Dodge Charger to burn fuel like theres no tommorrow. After all its not like I could afford to refill it in real life

i reckon they should bring back the Horsepower limit which was in GT2, made the races a lot more competitive and exciting, and the whole gaming experience just that little bit more challangeing

Id like a return of turning your car into a race car like in GT1. At least some stickers when you go to the tuners.
Even one of those big squares on the side of the car with a number in it, hopefully a number we can choose for the car.

Yep I agree.

1. for another lightweight section... they should have a carbon fiber option... and actually make it look somewhat like carbon fiber...

2. since we have the option to buy a wing in GT4... we also should be able to by a fiber glass, carbon, or some sort lip and a body kit that would increase airflow or help the handling.. or something like that :D

3. get some better rims... and have their offset adjustable... that would be sweet!

4. When buying the exhuast upgrades... the piping should get larger from stock size to a full 3" pipe... that would look nice and make the driving experience better.... I think!!!

..... to be continued.. lol :sly:

- Fix the autosave. When I turn it off, I want it completely turned off. In GT4 it still saves when I switch cars, and I hate it. If I want to buy a car to test and see if I can compete with other cars in a championship, I want to be able to reload if it's wasted money! Lost me a fortune trying to find a car for the Professional World Championship.
The ability to test your car before you buy it, as someone said before, would also be nice.

- Like someone said, have a picture of the car + some quick info right in the main garage screen. Then in the cars subscreen, have an option to access the tuning shop right there and maybe a list of every event you can access with that car in its current state (it would even be better if the events could be accessed from that very list). Likewise, if you're checking a certain event, provide it with a quicklink to a screen similar to your garage, only showing the cars that meet the limitations. Now that's shortcut heaven!
This way they could also add more restrictions to each race without making it harder to find a fitting car.

- A little anoying thing: rally cars should come with dirt tires as a standard instead of racing tires goddamnit! It seriously hurts your wallet if you buy a dirt set for every rally car.

- A paint job is absolutely necessary, I can't even believe they didn't include it in GT4 after everyone was complaining about GT3 not having the option to respray prize cars. If they don't include that, at least give us the option to choose the prize car's color when we win it.
Adding custom logo's to the car would also be nice, but I can live without it, I don't need GT: Undergound. Same goes for exterior tuning, it would be nice, but it won't make or break the game for me. If they include it, no neon lights! It would have to be racing mods, nothing more.

- If they include damage, they'd better include a decent repair system. I don't want to loose an endurance after 23 hours of racing because I totalled my car, but then again I still want to be able to crash my car to pieces. Including a save option in the pit might help, you'd at least save every hour or so, but that's not enough. I want some sort of repair service in the pit, but I want it to cost money and TIME. There's no point in having such an option if it wouldn't cost you some precious time on the track.
For example:
More than 75% mechanical damage would be counted as total loss. You'd instantly be transfered to the pit, back at the start of the current lap. If you have the money, you can repair your car, if not, you fail the race. When everything's done (including optional tire changes etc.), you'd still have to wait for a fixed period of time as an extra penalty.
Between 50 and 75%: You could choose between driving on to the pit at the end of your lap, or return to the pit of the current lap as above. In the first case, you wouldn't suffer the extra time penalty and you won't have to do an extra lap. In the second, it's the same as with +75% of damage. While the first case seems significantly better, it's not necessarily so. Imagine you crash in the first minute of a Nürburgring lap and having 70% of damage. Your car would go slow as hell, resulting in serious time loss. Here, the instant pit option would be much better, even with the extra time penalty (of course, not if the penalty is 10 minutes or so but that's just ridiculous).
Also note that repairing isn't obliged like in the case of +75% damage, so if it's in the last lap of a race you could just ignore the pits and go for the finish.
Less than 50%: instant pit option is not available, it's like the first case of the 50-75% situation.

- More options when starting an arcade/2 player/online race. In stead of just choosing car and track, it should be:
choose car and track, amount of laps/time, amount of cars on the track + restrictions for the other cars (or an extra option to configure the entire grid to your liking), damage: full/visual only/mechanical only/none + an extra option for tire damage, time of day (assuming we'll have dynamic day to night transitions), various weather effects + an option to choose the intensity of those effects (temperature shouldn't be adjustable, it would be determined by the time of the day and the weather effects, maybe even include an option to choose the season),...
And of course, if we're having all those options: a button which randomizes all those elements when we just want a quick race.

I think that's about it. I know it's quite a lot of 'little' things I have here, but that's because I really expect a lot of a GT game on the PS3. I hope PD reads my post and includes all this. :P
A fool's hope of course, but this would be my perfect GT game (until I come up with some other ideas :P ).

The Vanishing Boy
-> Functional reverse lights (those white rear lights when you go reverse. (:

Lots of people have mentioned that. I really don't see a point in it. But it would be a nice addition.

Things I want to see....

- Less crappy cars, there is no point for a cheap Japanese little thing in the game.
- Less of the same model, we don't need a ton of Lancers, Skylines, etc.
- More American cars, there are a ton that the should include off the top of my head a GMC Syclone and Typhoon would be nice, along with a Dodge Omni Turbo. Also whats the deal with no Firebird or Trans Am?
- Engine swaps
- Allow me to adjust the size of the wings, I don't want something gigantic sticking out of my car
- Front end down force
- Adjustable rim and tire size. I want big ol slicks on a Chevelle.
- Chrome rims
- Option to paint your rims
- Mix rim styles
- More modifications. I want to be able to upgrade everything under the hood, things like fuel rails, etc.
- Realistic oil changes, they don't cost 50 bucks and you don't have to change your oil every 600 miles or whatever it is.
- Less pointless races, like 24 hour endurence races
- Faster B-spec, something like 10x's so I can get pointless races done faster
- See the modifactions you do to the car.
- Tire marks
- More tire smoke. I like burnouts.
