SCCA Speed World Touring Car Challenge

SIGN UPS ARE CLOSED

I have put alot of time and effort into creating this series so i hope you all enjoy, i have based it as close to the real series as i possibly can, so here goes.

RULES
1. Each car is only allowed 2 drivers, cars are available on a first come first served basis, drivers in the same car are considered a "team"

2. only 20 competitors will be allowed

3. All cars have the following shared mods; 1 way LSD, Stage 3 light weight, full custom transmission, semi racing suspension, racing flywheel, racing brakes, R3 race medium tires, and oil change.

4. if you win a race you will carry a weight penalty proportionate to your finishing position, with a maximum amount of 200kg. the penalty system is as follows, and the weight should be adjusted in the settings screen as ballast weight

1st +75
2nd +60
3rd +45
4th +30
5th +15
6th 0
7th -10
8th -20
9th -30
10th -40
11th -50
12+ -60

5. you will carry any weight penalties for the duration of the series, unless you finish 7th or worse and are allowed to take weight off.

6. all standard OLR rules apply no wall touching/riding, no beneficial AI contact, etc...etc...

7. practice all you want, practice must be on an open track with no AI

8. all RACES are to be run ONLY ONCE, if you screw up you screw up, that is racing, live with it, and try harder next week.

9. all races will be announced one week before times are due, tracks will be listed here, but the laps, and location (league) of the race will not be announced until 1 week prior to the due date.

10. MOST IMPORTANT: have a good time, this series was designed to be, above all, FUN, the one time race format keeps it so that every dog has its day, the fast guys are fast, and consistent, there is no question there, but i was watching the WRC highlights of the rally cyprus and 2 privateers were in the top 5, and petter solberg, and marcus gronholm, and the like were nowhere to be seen. it means that ANYONE CAN WIN, but it will take work. if one car is too dominant and the wieght penaties dont fix that, then I will rework the car so that it is more competitive, same if a car is too far off the pace

Hmmm.....

I may be interested. I do have some questions.

1. After the 'one race' is completed, is the time PMed to you, or do we post it?
Personally, I think PMed is better that we no one can say they've done a better time.

2. Is your time needing to be verified? If so, how? Replay video or time listed at end of race?

3. The 'additional' mods on each vehicle, is that to make the BHP even amongst all the vehicles?

Also, a suggestion on advertising this is to put a link to it in your signature.

Cheers

A couple of notes

1. the weight stages can't be changed - if you have stage 3 you can't go back to stage 2 (useless) need to look at ballast weight instead

2. restarting races - how are you going to conrol this with no way to tell or provide proof otherwise.

3. providing times and such - vidio's only show so much info - won't show weight and other needed info.

this is of course all based on the honor system as is all OLR for the most part. if you are penalized with weight you will just have to build another car with only 2 stages of weight reduction instead of 3, time submissions should be PM'ed to me (ill put that in the rules) and the "additional mods" are so that the cars were even, competitively speaking. i dont have a sharkport o similar device, so i am just going off of what the competitors say. that said with as closely matched as these cars all are, it will bepretty easy to tell if someone is lying.

Doesn't seen to be many persons interested. However, I found your post at GTTimes. Are you going to combine the forums are go that route?

Sorry to bugger you with more questions. Just want to understand. What about driving aids? TCS & ASM. Are they on, off, or it doesn't matter?

[edit] Hey, I didn't see you had the Acura TSX (aka Accord Euro R) in the mix. I'll definitely take Pierre Kleinubing's seat in his absence from GTPlanet.

I do have a question, are we running arcade races at these tracks for the real event, or is it strictly hot lap?

I've been wanting to put together a race like this for the longest time. Now since someone else has done it, I've got to get in on this. But it's an awfully long series. :scared:

Anyway, I'll join the fray.

Can I get the BMW?

It's easy for me so propose, since I won't be administering the series, but I'd like to suggest a graded rewards weight system.

For example:
1st place: 65
2nd place: 35
3rd place: 20

Correspondingly, remove any ballast as follows:
Finish 6-9: remove 20
Finish 10-13: remove 35
Finish 14+: remove 65

Any thoughts on this, either from an administrative perspective or from a competitive standpoint?

Seeing Boom's post reminded me that as recent as the 2003 season, there were IS 300s in the field. Any chance of working these in?

ylg, sorry for trying to create all this extra work for you. I do sincerely appreciate all the effort you have put into pulling this thing together. 👍

YES! I was actually going to mention this as well, but you beat me to it. Young, if you do work the IS300 into this, I want to scrap the BMW and go with the Lex.

And QB, I like your idea of the graduated weight system. Nice idea.

Can I get the BMW?
Da Rules

The BMW team is full already. Join me in the TSX!

...unless the stewards accept the IS300, in which case I'll join Boom in that.

Oh, heck, it was your idea, sure. I'll stick with the TSX either way.
👍

Guys, he listed the 2005 season. The IS300 isn't in this season.

We know; we're just trying to widen the field a little with some other reasonable cars. Boombexus actually owns an IS300, which is why he's eager to drive it in the series. Besides, adding a car opens up 2 more slots.

///M, I'd say it's vice versa, but thanks! Glad to have you on Team TSX.

bleurabbit7
Guys, he listed the 2005 season. The IS300 isn't in this season.

Rule follower!

Conformist!

Just kidding bleurabbit. :P

I only brought it up because...well, I don't know, just because. I know that Boom had/has an IS300 and knew he'd be interested if the Lex were added to the series. Fitzgerald and Pappas made it work and it might be nice to get another non-FF car in the field.

If ylg wants to stick strictly to the 2005 entrants, that's fine with me.

Why, is the A4 too fast? Besides, they run A6s in the real series, I thought... both those cars are available in GT4. Do they overwhelm the competition?

Too much in-game power. More than 300BHP anyway. All other vehicles are about 270-280. Unless we can use the 98 S4? It only has 261BHP. Can we do that? If so, I'll change to it. :)
