There's only 3 people in trl that I've never beaten. Chote, dolph and martin. Maybe one day I'll be able to scratch a name off that list. Hopefully Saturday
That is some fast company! Some say they are wanted by the CIA and that they sleep upside down like bats....

Well I've never raced chote. I haven't raced Dolph since my first race as a turtle in the Mazda and not raced Martin since the first tyro race which where both on Autumn ring. I've improved a lot since then and wanna see how I stack up ;)

Hey guys I think in the same way that bioinic about start the races 1 hr earlier at least, because in my case I'm steward in another league and some times I'm late because we never start in time. But I don't know it's just my opinion

Ill send a pm to all the turtles on what they think of this idea. Weather to keep it at its time or 1 hour earlier.

ItsAllAboutWins

Don't act like derp now!

Randy was saying that the reason why it ends so late the last couple weeks is that we didn't start on time. Ill be hosting this Saturday and it will start on 10:15 EST after qualifying. So 10 P.M EST Qualifying begins! Show up at least 10 minutes earlier if you are going to be late let us know and we will arrange it for the night

Hey Phish... I think the starting times are fine we just had some issues getting going last weekend. The main issues were:

1. My first time hosting with the new rules for qualifying and starting so I was a bit slow.

2. We had some people with wireless connections join the room well before 10 p.m. We had to kick everyone out and start a new room.

3. One of the new guys has an unstable wireless connection so not everybody can view everybody.

4. There were a lot of practice laps before qualifying

I think the easy solution would be to first not allow anyone into the room until the host is settled and its 10 p.m. then once you were in... put your 3 laps in and park it. Then start the race right at 1015 regardless if everyone's finished qualifying or not. These might sound harsh but on the old turtle Racing League we did all our practicing in another room so when we switched over to the race rooms there were no problems. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the input scarecrow..this helps me.. 💡 I think I'm going to make an another turtle psn any minute here for practing. This is can be used by all turtles in both series. Will send the friend request to all current turtles in both series 👍

I second this motion:tup:

re: Another PSN-I do all my practicing in Turtle Town and both current series run in Turtle Home so....why not make it the practice lounge?

Congrats to Dolph and hj with a 2 tenths of a second tiebreaker!! Now that's some Turtle racing fellas. 👍

Some new guys may not be able to access it unless mbobb has that account since psycho created it

If everyone doesn't mind another friend on their account I think it would be best to create a turtle practice room. This way we know everyone has access, at least all current TRL members anyways. Everybody can meet and greet there and then at 10 one of the stewards should already be in place for the room.

For those running Wireless if there's any way that you can run wired that would be awesome. We understand everybody can't, so if wireless is your only option please check into port forwarding.

its easier to dmz the PlayStation. I run wireless and had issues with the port forwarding causing lag still. I still lag just a little but you can't tell it unless my brother in law users the wifi.

Wins please explain to me how to do this either here or pm. I would very much appreciate it.

You log into your modem or router, go through the options until you find enable dmz. There should be a box to put in the last sequence of numbers. You can Google the modems model number to find out exactly how. Then put it in under network part of your ps3

That's a terrible explanation lol give me a little bit and I'll explain it better. If you can, get me your modems model number off the sticker on the bottom.

Garage-father.. I apologize if you think I "dive-bombed" you on lap 8 (starts at the 14:30 mark of race 2 ).. Looks like good hard racing between all four of us. I held my line on the outside and you can see I tried to give everyone room. I got bumped around a bit but hey that's racing. When we got to the corner in question I had the inside line. Sorry we got together and apologies for any contact. I will gladly take a DQ if the stewards deem I caused the incident.

Sorry I did not respond sooner. Missed the post. It would be better to hash this stuff out through PM. I will discuss it here so as to promote Good Racecraft and publicly apologize.

Like I mentioned, it is sometimes a fine line between dive bombing and passing. The reason why I considered it a dive bomb is 2 fold. First because I felt you did not have enough overlap going into the corner and second because the line you took was incompatible with mine, meaning our arc through the apex was different and incompatible. The speed you carried into the corner did not allow you to give me the room I needed. The resultant contact pushed me off the track.

There are always multiple ways to take any given corner but I tend to take the slow in/fast out approach that most of the really fast guys use ("slow in" is a misnomer in that we are trail breaking to the apex in an attempt to hold the most speed while maintaining a line that allows the longest acceleration time between corners, which may mean slower entrance speeds on some corners). It may seem like I am slower at times because you can dive in there by late braking, but you were really late taking the space and I was already intending on using it. You need more overlap going into the corner to claim the real estate or the driver in front will rightly believe they have claim. Overlap is the key. It signals to the leading driver that he has lost the battle. If there isn't enough overlap, the passing driver must know he has lost the battle. When there is confusion, it normally leads to the leading driver getting wrecked. He cannot see as clearly what is going on. That is why overlap is key, it is his only signal to warn the leading driver that he has lost the battle. Once committed to the corner, he cannot review the minimap for sudden changes.

I actually did not expect you to be there so I never took any evasive action or tried to alter my line. Due to a lack of overlap, I rightly felt I had won the battle and that you wouldn't try to do what you tried. It is just not a good part of the track to pass and was a very aggressive place to try. I thought the aggressiveness was due to you having just lost the position to me as well as the person in front of both of us. Perhaps not. It was aggressive none the less.

Now to be realistic, we all end up making this mistake when racing. The tighter the competition, the fewer the opportunities to pass. The difference between the public lobbies and leagues abiding by the good racecraft guide isn't only that we give back positions that are gained due to contact, but we work very hard not to put ourselves into those positions. We try to treat the race like a racer in a real car would, knowing that certain things are too risky and likely to end your race (even though the video game is much more forgiving). The reason they happen so often in public lobbies is because there is no price to pay for things that would end a real race.

Most of the time you can tell when you have pushed it too hard or when the contact was incidental. Other times it may be less obvious, especially during the race. Most of us have gotten so good at knowing, we generally don't even take the position that may be questionable once contact is made and most contact is incidental because we aren't taking unnecessary risks. Sometimes, many positions are lost relinquishing positions when we really screw up and send someone off, but that is what it is. Knowing when to concede a position gained from contact as well as knowing when to attempt passes and when not to is gained through experience. In the end, the desire to gain the respect of your fellow drivers due to your good racecraft becomes as important as winning. It is part of an evolution of drivers that leads to the experience you had Saturday.

One important thing that you mentioned Saturday is that the racing that night was the closest, fastest, and cleanest racing that you have ever experienced. That is most assuredly true if you have not raced among experienced Good Racecraft committed drivers before. That experience is a real eye opener for many. I know it was for me. I am glad your experience was so rewarding and regret tarnishing it by my statements after the race.

I regret being a buzz kill to you and should have kept my complaints to myself and PM'd you later about it in a better atmosphere. I apologize for letting my emotions get the better of me and hurting your overall positive experience. In Hindsight, I am glad you had a good time and don't think what you did was terribly egregious. I can tell you have some skills and nothing you did to me was blatant. I just hope you consider what I said about it and when things like this happen, consider whether or not you may have overstepped. In this case I still believe you did overstep but I hate that I allowed that to be a buzz kill. That is not what Turtle is all about and I sure as heck don't want to make it that way. I am sorry for that.

I am also sorry to everyone that I accidentally left my mic on during the second race. I mute it religiously during races but somehow failed to do so this time. It was incredibly bad timing on my part due to my stupid rantings in the race being broadcast to everyone. Sorry for that. Ironically, that is partly why a mute it in the first place.:ouch:

I close by saying that I hope to see you next Saturday Monkeyboy.:)

I guess I'll be looking into port forwarding. My router is upstairs and my Ps3 is down in my room. But either way it doesn't seem like I lag very much. I'm up on the edge of a timezone an hour ahead of EST, so if my connection's bad, I'd just blame it on distance from everyone.

Yeah, I think the only time I've raced against you was at Autumn Ring in the 787B. I remember you being very fast...when you kept it on track. :sly: I know you have improved since then, and if we ever get the chance to race each other again (hopefully this Saturday?), there's a chance you'll be able to scratch my name off the list for at least one of the races.

Choate is ridiculously fast; some would say alien fast. The fact that he lapped the entire field in the Corvette Stingray (C7) '14 in an endurance race at the Indy Road Course (in the now defunct FLEX Series) shows just that. I finished 2nd and he lapped me with 5 to go.

I would say Martin and I match up pretty well against each other. It's been a while since I've raced against him though. We're beatable.
