The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports

"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

The reason The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports is the first thing you read when you get to Turtle Racing League is because if you do not believe this rule applies to you, then you do not need to read any further because this league is not for you. You are encouraged to read and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

-Rolling Starts x2-

As Turtles, We all Respect every racer on the track, and Race Fair, and Clean. This is Something I would like to try. The 1st Lap when the race begins, you do Not have to go all out right away. The Racer with the Pole in the 1st race will go around the track at a slow speed leading up to the start. Before we approach the start line on the pace lap, Please try to give as much space in between each racer, and having no contact during a pace lap. I believe us turtles will not hit each other during the pace lap or hopefully not during the race. As we come out of the last turn leading to the start of the race, which in this case would be on Lap 2. The Pole Racer must still be in its pace. as everyone gathers us in a double formation. Now, The Pole sitter has the right of way when to accelerate to begin the race! not the 2nd placer, 3rd or lower. Everyone behind the Pole sitter has to wait until the Pole sitter takes off. You can time it when he does accelerate, however, you must make sure, If you are able to pass the pole sitter before the first turn, you are fine and should be able to go through the first turn clean. However if you were not able to fully successfully pass the pole sitter and the front of your car is by his rear of his car, he has the right of way. Remember this whole thing is the first turn rule! We decided to do double formation, because it would first warm up the tires on pace lap, Not smoke your tires at the beginning, more space to work with when approaching the first turn for a cleaner exist.
--Pace Lap Speed is 60 MPH-70 MPH Depending on track--
-70 MPH FIRST LAP PACE SPEED-

-No Swerving left to right, Keep a straight line through the pace lap until the green flag is dropped. This rule produces less accidents and better realistic professional turtle racing league-

Policies

The First Turn Rule - It is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1 and not try to improve it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. 4) If you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn.

Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to effectively avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers who are being careful and doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. You can not win the race on the 1st turn or even the 1st lap. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable, and only results in incidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass on the low side. The trailing driver must also have gained at least a half a car length lead before braking begins so the leading driver can see his position and avoid contact.

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. It is a matter to respect every Turtle on the track, as we are competing against each other on the track, we all must remain clean at all times. If you know you made a mistake on the track by pushing a turtle off track, please let them gain their position back. We are Turtle Racing League, and we want to be remembered as a respectful clean racer towards any racer out there. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

- Turtle Racing League - Race 1 Recap -

GTP_Ph7shr was able to grab the Pole for the first time in this 7 week span. He held off DolphDrago from passing him in the first couple laps, but Dolphdrago made a slight mistake going into Turn 1, allowing GTP_Ph7shr to make a gap for himself and flying away for race 1 victory. DolphDrago couldn't seem to catch GTP_Ph7shr, but was running very fast consistent lap times. DolphDrago was able to grab the 2nd Place finish for a silver podium. RacingOtaku86 was able to get around johnsom, and with great pit strategy, he got a separation from johnsom. RacingOtaku86 came away with a bronze finish that got him 3rd Place. Johnsom had some struggles during the race, by keeping his lap times consistent, but was able to keep his fast lap times up in the air! johnsom got a very well deserved 4th Place finish. spyagent1439 couldn't keep the lap times up to the faster guys in the front, but once he got out of the pits, he improved his consistency a lot, and getting faster lap times. spyagent1439 came away with a great 5th Place Finish. ThethirdRoy came right behind spyagent1439 just by around 2 seconds, ThethirdRoy's Pit Strategy may have cost the 2 seconds, either way ThethirdRoy continues to get faster, and was able to finish 6th Place in Race 1. Latenight-Rider made his Turtle debut, and did very well in his first race with us. Though he may wasn't able to stick with the leaders in the first race, but was able to continue to get faster and be more consistent. Latenight-Rider came away with a 7th Place finish. Randy1122 couldn't keep the car straight at points, but when he kept it straight, randy1122 was able to nail a lot of the turns. randy1122 was able to get a very respectable 8th Place Finish. RJ_Whitlock_9mm was able to wrap up the field getting 9th Place, but RJ_whitlock_9mm may have disconnected in the middle of the race.

- Turtle Racing League - Race 2 Recap -

With a hairy start when the green flag dropped, with DolphDrago colliding into johnsom into randy1122 who went into the sand, but they both waited for randy1122, allowed GTP_Ph7shr to get through the pack up quickly and soon getting by RacingOtaku86 and spyagent1439 and separating himself from the field, giving GTP_Ph7shr another win in race 2! Man, This Fish is sure Turtlely quick! After the accident on lap 2, DolphDrago was able to climb his way up the field and soon outbeating RacingOtaku86 after having a wicked battle for 2nd Place, DolphDrago was able to claim 2nd Place. Giving him 2 2nd Place Finishes for the night. RacingOtaku86 couldn't hold on to DolphDrago for 2nd Place, but was able to get himself 3rd Place. RacingOtaku86 may have been a little conservative towards the end of the race making sure he doesn't make any mistakes. spyagent1439 had another great battle with johnsom, with spyagent1439 going into the pits, and out before johnsom, spyagent1439 was able to grab a great 4th Place Finish. johnsom couldn't catch spyagent1439 as he was still getting great lap times, just didn't come around for him this time. Latenight-Rider improved his lap times, which improved his consistency. Latenight-Rider came away with a great 6th Place Finish. Randy1122 had very consistent lap times as well, just wasn't fast consistent, the most important part is having consistent lap times and keeping the car on track and thats exactly what randy1122 was able to do. TurtleRacer13 wraps up the field at Indy Road Course, he couldn't find the fastest lines around the track somehow, but ill tell you what, it sure looks like he had a super fun busted time!

Great racing last night, as usual. 👍

Great job, Ph1sher, on both your wins. Once I lost your draft in the first race, there was nothing I could do. You were killing me in the last, tight turn before the final turn (turn 1 in real life at Indy) onto the straightaway. The 2nd race, as mentioned, was kinda hairy at the beginning. I know I bumped johnsom slightly, who also got into the back of randy, sending him into the sand. I wasn't sure if my bump of johnsom is what actually put randy into the sand or if it was just johnsom getting into him. But I decided to play it safe and waited up for both of them. While it cost me any chance of winning, I enjoyed trying to make my way back up through the field and finishing 2nd (and having a good battle with Racing). Pitting one lap sooner than everyone else I think helped me tremendously too. In any case, had I not had that issue at the beginning of the race and beat Ph1sher, I still would have lost out in the final standings anyway because of his pole. So moot point. :)

I would also like to thank those of you who chose to participate in the "half-race" at Monza in the Alfa we had following the regular races. Having chosen the car and track combo for last week, I was bummed I couldn't make that race. Even if it was a just a taste of what last week's race was like, I enjoyed it. :dopey:

Thanks Dolph! I thought it was a this car/track was a lot of fun to run around, I still have my secret weapon how I gained so much on that turn ;)

Thanks to everyone for coming out! See you guys next Saturday at High Speed Ring! 👍

The Next 7 weeks will be updated later this week 👍
