And @johnsom takes a hard fought win in the 2nd race! Congratulations to both winners! And thank you to all Turtles for coming out last night! See you next week at Brands Hatch!

Just a quick note to thank you guys for helping me break my Turtle virginity last night!

I really enjoyed Race 1 where I was involved with good fair battles with Dolph, Hector and Leo and I was pleased enough to finish 5th amongst drivers of this calibre.

Unfortunately, Race 2 was a bit of a disaster. I was in a decent position but on lap 2 had a coming together with Derp which ended with him in the gravel(I forgot to save the replay so can't explain it fully) so I slowed to let him back past me. After that it all went pear shaped for me and I lost touch with the pack and everyone else for that matter. For some strange reason I couldn't get near to the laptimes I made in Race 1 or qualifying and it ended up a lonely race for me.

So thanks again Turtles and sorry Derp!

I'm looking forward to next week. Brands Hatch is a special place for me. I'm a bit of a senior citizen and I was lucky enough to have seen the likes of Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell and Rosberg race there back when they held the last F1 GP in Brands in 1986. I have a few photos I could put up if you guys wish.

That would be Awesome if you shared the photos on the thread!!

Drivers List is Updated

Really enjoyed my first turtle race, just wish i was a little more competitive, the quality in D 2 was ridiculous compared to what i'm used to, the marcos was a really fun ride but incredibly unforgiving...any mistake seems to be a catastrophic loss of momentum! on the other hand, next week's car/track seems to be quite a different challenge!
thanks again for including me, i look forward to another shot

Oh by the way ... I noticed in the room set up last night that Damage was set to Light while Visible Damage was turned ON. I have heard that turning Visible Damage ON uses additional resources and increases the chances of lag and other connection issues. This came to mind while viewing the fantastic detail in 3forSpeed's pictures he posted.

Nürburgring GP_F.jpg

Right from the start we knew that it would be a hard fought battle to the finish, and without fail the Turtles delivered.
SpeedDeemin took the early lead with pole and held on for a few laps until he and BigMoMo101 made a mistake going into turn 7 which allowed Arrogant-Lobster to head into first with ANFD, johnsom, GTP_severn and TheThirdRoy in hot pursuit, followed closely by terk_logan, Speer9892007 and j4hun2ter0. BigMoMo101 made a massive comeback from last place(shout out) to end up in first capitalizing on Arrogant_Lobster's mistake in turn 1, lap 14.
Meanwhile, in the second pack SpeedDeemin came from behind to end up 5th just in front of GTP_Severn, ANFD, terk_logan and j4hun2ter0 to end what was truely an epic battle.

Race 2 was even more closely and hard fought to the bitter end. With Arrogant_Lobster taking the lead from pole followed in hot pursuit by the pack he wouldn't relinqious his lead until lap 7. With a slight mistake going into the last turn that allowed johnsom and BigMoMo101 to slip by. It was a valiant effort by Arrogant-Lobster to get back to 2nd ending up just 0.184 behind, followed closely by BigMoMo101 but johnsom was in focus mode and would not be denied the checker. ANFD led the 2nd pack to the finish with GTP_Severn giving TheThirdRoy some aneurysms fighting a good battle for 5th place until lap 15 where GTP_Severn slipped to 7th giving SpeedDeemin a shot for 5th, who just didn't have enough left in him and ended up just behind TheThirdRoy to take 6th followed closely by GTP_Severn and terk_logan.

Congratulations to the winning turtles!

sounded like y'all had a blast. wish i could have joined you. looks like fish needed some pressure.

while i was in DC, i went to All Sports Grand Prix Karting (never been) with a big group of friends. halfway through my second session, i set the fastest lap of a non-superkarts for the past month. not too shabby :)

and plug...i'm aiming to host a shuffle room on tuesday night.

Your not pressure to me

Congrats man

Awesome racing last night in D1! Phish absolutely destroyed us in race 1. I had a great battle with Hector and turnupdaheat for a good while before finally being able to pull away (not an easy task in this car unless you were Phish in the first race). I started to chase down Derp with about 5 to go, but he tightened down and kept the gap steady the last couple of laps, taking a nice 2nd.

Race 2 was one of the most exciting races I've been a part of. There was a 4 car battle for the lead the entire race with many lead changes. Phish made a rare mistake and took a trip through the kitty litter while leading a tight pack early. The racing got fierce at the end as Phish was chasing the 4 of us leaders down. Given another lap, I think he would have been right with us. Congrats to Leo hanging on for the race 2 win!

By the way, sorry about my sudden disappearance while we were practicing after the races. Not sure what happened with my connection. I tried to get back into the room to see the differences with the 86 I was running and the BR-Z I had bought after the disconnect, but couldn't get back in. I actually tried to join a couple of other random rooms too, but couldn't get into those either. The internet on my computer was working fine, so that wasn't the issue. I imagine if I had just turned off the PS3 and turned it back on again, it would have been fine. But it was pretty late, so I called it a night.

Yeah, Race 2 was kind of tough for me after spinning out unexpectedly, @BionicDerp gave me some awesome racing to compete for 5th! It was quite awesome! Those Marcos as people say, They are Turtles!

Mansell leads Piquet with backmarker Phillipe Streiff in the Tyrrell-Renault between them. Mansell held onto the lead to record a popular home win.

Unlike Silverstone, which has changed a lot over the years, Brands Hatch still looks the same as it did all those years ago

Here's Senna's qualy lap with the Renault pumping out somewhere around 1200/1300 bhp!

thanks for the photos turnuptheheat!

I am an F1 fan... not a huge fan but I try to watch every race. I still believe older f1 cars bring out the best of a driver more than today's F1 cars with all the technology built in.

BTW .... in the second race in D2, I only saw 4 others in the race and my Race Results screen only showed a total of 5 so I'm curious to see what the actual results look like.

I just don't believe that you can compare different eras, back in the 80's they had traction control whereas today there hasn't been any for years, for example. The technology is different today just like it was hugely different in the 80's compared to the 60's. I truly believe that Senna would do just as well today as Vettal would have done if he grew up in the 70's.
